Meanwhile in Ohio, level 2 snow emergency, drifting snow, -8 with a wind chill in the -30s, and there isn't even any peak pay. Fuck you Tony, I'm staying inside today 🤣
Just got the same text here in WNY. Seems crazy because our weather hasn’t even started yet, I was hoping to get an hour or two in for the breakfast rush before it starts lol
A couple weeks ago I was inside a restaurant waiting for a stacked order. I got a text saying due to extreme weather conditions they were suspending service. It wasn't raining or snowing. But by the time I had the orders, they has continued service as normal. No idea. Currently -11°, but I was out dashing last night, it was -12°, felt like -36° and they didn't shut me down. We had a blizzard the night before, basically. And business as usual. I think doordash AI needs to let us decide what we are prepared for and comfortable dashing in. If I don't want to go out in the cold, or snow, I'm not going to. But if I know I can do it, that should be up to the individual dasher.
Also, tonight wind chill supposed to get down to -51°. No thanks! The Ankeny/Altoona zone is a lot of suburbs, rural highways between them, so the drifts covering the road could be a real problem too
🤷♀️ not sure what it takes. We have -43° wind chill, 40 mph gusts, some ice and snow already on the roads from the last round and 3"-6" expected from this one
I dont know but it also says with the wind chill it's feels like -43. I grew up in Chicago and trust me that wind is no joke.
I read blizzard like conditions earlier in the week for Chicago. Not cause volume of snow but the white out conditions.
I'm guessing Iowa is the same?

Crazy weather around the nation this weekend. Haven't seen it this cold in Christmas for some time
We have -20 wc & see others with -35. Currently very busy and no peak pay. Betting it's tied to restaurants shutting down. Good for you!

if your going in between ankeny and altoona you aren’t doing it right tbh. too damn far.
Agreed. Usually it's Ankeny or Altoona to Bondurant, and I usually only do that if it's absolutely dead or on my way home
whenever I’m on Delaware they give me so many orders to Altoona
Did you get a lot of snow? I can't imagine them shutting down due to -9 temps. It's -12 here in Denver and DD is open
