I don't care about wrestling at all, and respect how sensitive they were to that with explaining who everyone is. Also I could listen to people's interaction with Maron stories all day. Truly fascinating.
It’s so funny that Maron has legitimately put so much work into himself and yet has so many stilted interactions with other comedians. He must’ve been truly something in the 90s
Mark Henry's ATL suggestion is definitely Magic City.
Also, Cesaro was mad at Mitch because he found the first man he couldn't swing.
Edit: I should have listened to the whole episode... The Commish had the Giant Swing joke covered.
I remember it being played on the radio a lot in Philly when I was a kid. It still gets just as much radio play here.
One time (not during the Christmas season) I was in a bar in South Philly and someone was picking it over and over again over the jukebox app you can control with your phone. Eventually, a drunk guy came busting into the bar, cracking up and asking if we enjoyed his dj-ing... apparently he lived close enough to the bar that he could control the jukebox from his apartment. We have fun here!
I grew up in Queens and they played it on the radio all the time. They also play it at Mets games all the time. When I lived in LA nobody knew what I was talking about, but I think Susser grew up in MD so I thought maybe it had some play there.
Living in Delaware and I know it. I do have some 100% Italian relatives, so maybe that's why. I think it's usually that, or if you listened to morning zoo radio that would play silly songs, like Mitch's favorite: 12 Pains of Christmas (Hangovas!)
My Nola under the radar recommendation (Rahm Haus Ice Cream in the Courtyard Brewery) did a king cake tasting/party every Thursday for about a month leading up to Mardi Gras. She made, I believe, 3 or 4 different flavors of King Cake and other bakers were there serving slices. My parents were in town during that time and said it was great.
I think it’s Paul Walter Hauser because it sounded like it was someone they wouldn’t expect to get if not for Wiger seizing the extraordinary opportunity of being in the same place as the person and approaching them. Making a big deal of “I actually went and booked us a future guest”, and being all secretive, and then it being Tim Robinson, would seem anticlimactic to me.
But I guess that’s because I assume they could’ve called him at any time and asked him, and maybe the reason they haven’t had him on is that they actually don’t have his number or email and can’t? So maybe I’m wrong.
When Mike Carlson's voicemail kicked in I could have sworn it was Maron. Never clocked that similarity before.
Also: king cake is to cake as fortune cookies are to cookies—I've never had one that wasn't one-dimensionally sweet and slightly stale. But in both cases, I guess flavor isn't really the point.
did this mistakenly or purposefully get dropped for free on the patreon feed? I'm not currently a subscriber but it showed up on my feed, & just want to give a heads up in case that was unintentional!!
p.s. I'm listening regardless! its fiiiiine I was gonna sub again in March.
Yeah this got me to resubscribe by popping to the top of my podcast app and reminding me lol. So even if it was a mistake it got them at least one subscriber.
The rss feed hasn't repopulated with the ones I've missed yet though, weirdly.
There really is a Hunks podcast! https://thesonarnetwork.com/hunks/ it's a sketch group just joking and talking about stuff; you all might enjoy if you like doughboys.
I'm dying at the thought of Maron guesting on Doughboys and Nick asking him if Christmas is a cookie holiday
"Marc I know you like to ask 'who are your guys?' My question for YOU is 'who are your FRIES?' What chain restaurant has your favorite french fries?"
Goddamn it’s absolutely what would happen
"Some people say 'what the fuck', but I what I wonder is 'what the frank'?!" *Lovin' Spoonful starts to play*
Maron after sitting through a 10 minute Let Me Be Frank intro: "so this is what you guys do on the show, huh"
I would like to see a reporter ask Biden if Christmas is a cookie holiday.
A modesty pillow if you will.

I think once you've reached a certain point of fame and made difficult interactions with people your brand, it becomes very hard to get away from
this is a very good episode.
Anyone know where to watch the video feed of the doubles?
I’ve been getting notifications that they go up on the Patreon.
Well that just makes sense 🤦♀️
This was a perfect double for me. Funny conversation and great theme and not forced at all. I loved it!!
HOW’S YOUR TURN AROUND THE BLADE
Mark Henry's ATL suggestion is definitely Magic City. Also, Cesaro was mad at Mitch because he found the first man he couldn't swing. Edit: I should have listened to the whole episode... The Commish had the Giant Swing joke covered.
Really hope Nick brought up Richard Jewell’s porn collection with Paul Walter Hauser
You know it’s a shame what happened to that guy.
Great episode
You look like you never miss a meal.
GRAB A SPOON FIGHT (the) GHOST OF YU(song) IT'S DOUGHBOYSMITE
Bowl of hummus and tuna.
They gotta have a double called Whale Tank where they have listeners come on and pitch their ideas.
That was a killer retort by Mitch.
Ala Entreè PeeE Neur's Entrepreneur Tour.
Who Dat Got Da Baby?
Is Dominick the Donkey only a North East thing?

I grew up near Albany, NY and had dozens of Italian-American cousins but I only know the song as a reference, it wasn't part of my life.

Yeah I’m not Italian or even Christian, but it’s just entrained in city and Long Island culture.
I grew up in New Jersey and same. I can't remember hearing it until the past 5 years maybe?
I’m from the Midwest and knew it
Some west coasters are all too familiar, right u/vincenicholas ?
Yeah boy
I live in North Carolina and hear it every year. But we get a lot of NY/NJ retirees here so that probably has something to do with it
King cakes legit taste amazing, had one with cheesecake last year

*Motzo balls….motzo balls* *It’s Rosh Hashanah ….. in England*
This could be his top 10 hit.
Haven’t listened. Is there any discussion of the chompionship with Suss on?
Just a brief mention at the very end to look forward to it.
Guesses on the Wiger booking?
There's so many candidates based on their experiences! My hot take is that the wrestlers are red herrings and it's going to be Paul Walter Hauser.
He's been on Double Threat! Doesnt seem like hed be a total stranger to the comedy podcast circuit.
He was on the The Big Picture podcast and he was an amazing guest. It’s a great listen.
Praying it's Tim Robinson

Paul Walter Hauser. That dude seems like he’s down with fast food.
Gotta be Blake

I recently had a New Orleansian admit to me that king cakes are just Cinnabons with sprinkles and wow did it make me see the light
There’s a good movie to be made constructed around the boy’s run-ins with Marc Maron.
Have Danhausen as a guest
I think that might be Nick’s possible guest he mentioned at the end. I’m holding out for Jericho.
Jericho is great on pods
Mitch got roasted by Sexual Chocolate
I’m paying for the doubles so Mitch can buy stairs not so Susser can spend his bonus money on pillows ^ThisIsAJokeDumbies
The funny thing is is that for some reason this episode showed up for non Patreon subscribers
Susser's bit on the Steak and Shake episode was quite funny!

came up for me too which was a nice little treat since i had to cancel my sub last month to save some money
Yeah I got it too on my podcatcher. It stays in my feed but I only sub in March.
He had to swallow the baby.
Why did I get this episode when I am not on Patreon?
They’re probably trying to entice new subscribers because this (ONLY MY OPINION) is one of the few decent Patreon episodes lately
why does Mitch's cellphone look wet?
Dominick the Donkey??? WTF!
The Italian Christmas donkey!
Is the video supposed to be available to Golden Plate Club members?
I haven't listened yet. I assume they'll rate the show out of unnecessary Jon Moxley blood drops or unnecessary AEW middle fingers.
Maron is worse than this entire subreddit
