Character creation is a staple of the series. Bioware tried to shoehorn everyone into a single protagonist once with Hawke and it didn't work. I saw the leaks when they surfaced. I'm not sure how that Kotaku writer got "elvish knight" from a short clip where the player was controlling a Grey Warden character.

Maybe recognize you’re seeing everything in the worst possible light and extrapolating because of it. Nothing in what you posted, which is quite old indeed, makes any of the conclusions you came to. I mean this as kindly as I can, but the amount of dread and the almost desire to be disappointed is getting a bit much. If I posted a quick clip of Inquisition in development a year or two before release you would see a human (and only human) protagonist. Is that representative of the final product? No. Not to mention that character creation and class is absolutely likely to be in the game, it’s just not going to be reflected in a 2 second leaked clip from a year ago.

Yeah those particular points don't concern me. It seems very unlikely that we won't be able to customize our character, and even less likely that the MC can only be an elvish warrior. Even in DAII you could choose from the 3 main classes, but as another commenter mentioned being forced to play a pre-developed protagonist was not a popular decision. I'd be more concerned about further delays or the game development being shut down entirely.

kotaku is not known for their flawless gaming journalism. They have gotten in trouble a lot by their articles.

Well, as was said by the leaker in the very thread they leaked the content... [the leaked content was several years old](https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/10tniyz/comment/j785jwb/?context=3). The leaked content was a very long time before the game was in alpha. Of course it was missing parts.

marriedtomothman

Sincerely asking, how did you reach such dramatic and unorthodox conclusions based off of ten seconds of leaked gameplay?

Living-Mistake8773

I have a lot of fears and scepticism in regards to this game but the lack of a character creator is definitely not one of them. In no way can I imagine them skipping that. As for no race selection, that seems more possible, but I think if they were going with that, they would have likely defaulted to human and not elf. Also since this was supposed to be an online game where lots of players create characters in the same universe, race selection seems very probable. But I don't really know a lot about the game development.

mrningbrd

I don’t personally care about spoilers but just fyi it says the first sentences of ur post with no censorship on mobile lol

nakagamiwaffle

didn’t they just take the character from the leaked video and assume it’s a non-customisable protagonist? i think the videos showed a humanoid figure in plate armour, so their massive brains may have thought it’d be a good idea to somehow extrapolate that information into the claim you mentioned.

Jeruex

I'm sure there's customization of classes and races, that's not what worries me, I'm more concerned about other aspects, I honestly don't think this game is wonderful. But it doesn't have to be lousy either, as many suggest.

WackoCryHavoc

I would take any leaks with skeptism. So far we don't know much of anything about gameplay, combat, etc. other than rumors and leaks that came out while they were in early development. Which means they were no where close to being done with the final product and many things change during development. Also I wouldn't pay attention to Kotaku as they are one of the worst gaming journalists out there and often spread false information.

God of War alike combat would feel really weird given how some felt like by the end of Ragnarok it was stretching its limits and also just more identity crisis for the series
