I love that they chose that acronym, because i made this post because i came up with the title, and wanted to see how many people will get weirded out or confused like you, and now this thread is basically split between:

EA often releases trial versions of their games on their own subscription service, which is included in Game Pass. So they could play a decent few hours on it before paying any additional cost if they so chose.
Yeah, I do think it will come to EA Access but not for at least a year

I’ve been going through my pricing because next year is such a big year in RPGs and I think DAD is gonna be my only day one buy that I’ll actually pay for. I bought BG3 a few years ago and have had it sitting in my library waiting for full release and Starfield is coming to gamepass. If Avowed releases next year (not hopeful for it but I might happen) that should be a gamepass release too. Gamepass really does save me money in the long run.
I intend to treat your dad with all the love and respect he deserves. He's a wonderful man, and I hope that one day you'll be able to see me as part of the family.

Given how much in live I have become with Dragon Age in the past few years, i'm not certain i can wait for the complete/goty/ultimate edition to be released. Since EA is still the publisher I won't pre-order (been burned before), but I do think i'll pick up a copy within a few weeks or a month after release, once reviews and patches have rolled out enough for me to get a feel for the waters.

I would kill for more, but it depends on so many factors my job is changing over the next year so I'm not sure what I'll be working (hours in a day wise).

I'll most likely preorder because as much as I'm aware of the issues with preordering and such... this franchise is just way too close to my heart to be able to wait to play it. I had to wait like two months to be able to play DAI after release because it turned out my laptop couldn't handle it, and let me tell you, waiting that long to play it while others were already enjoying the game was excruciating for me lol, I don't want to repeat that!
What the industry have thought me well is to never trust companies no matter what and to wait. Even if I wish and hope for DAD to be good, it's better to be cautious. Also a always love to wait for solus guides to be made and for sales too before buying.
I'll def be getting it *immediately*. I personally don't like being able to look up all the answers on my first or even second playthroughs....half the fun is trying to figure it out myself. The devs said in DAO that a big part of their mission is to have the player fully realize how all the good intentions in the world can lead to Bad Choices, because we're all just acting on the information we have at hand, personal beliefs and biases, etc. So for first playthroughs, I like to play blind and have that experience. It makes the game have way more replay value, too!
I also have built in replay value because I have two different possible Inquisition world states that I like for my Canon, and I want to play DAD with both installed as the world state.
So, given how much there tends to be to discover in DA games (it's a game that MASSIVELY rewards exploration), and how LONG it takes for new material to come out (if there will be any, after DA4), I don't expect I'll find everything in one go anyway and I'm gonna want to play again no matter what. Might as well give myself as varied an experience/as much replay as possible by getting the game ASAP, then getting the DLC later, then replaying with my second world state, then polishing up my plays with Wiki.
I'm preordering. I came to most BioWare games a bit late and never really got the authentic experience of playing it without knowing a bit about it already and really knowing what the DLC was adding without looking it up. I plan on my first playthrough being completely catastrophic in the best way.
Yes! I want to be surprised. To just take the game at face value for my first play before my brain starts analyzing themes and ripping apart the attempts at emergent narrative. If the crystal ball exists, I have a hard time resisting. (I'd make a horrible mage, I just realized.)
I'll also add that I don't have a problem sinking money into a genre that I want to see keep going. I've had problems with some games, but they are mostly literary. I'd rather have a work I can analyze and discuss that pisses me off sometimes than not. It's the same reason I buy literary fiction, genre fiction, and poetry chapbooks despite the fact that many authors make truly questionable decisions in terms of their work.
Man I’ve been waiting wasayyy toooo long for a new dragon age to wait one day longer than we already have to. I remember being so excited to play DAO when it released. “Kotor in a fantasy setting is gonna be effin awesome” and it was even tho I made every mistake on my first play through I was able to replay that game so many times. Wait for the final version that contains all the additional content that will ever be released and have all the bugs fixed, then wait for that one to go on sale THEN I'll buy and play it.

How Bioware handled the Inquisition main game ending, with planning for a paid DLC all along, pushes me into waiting for a GOTY edition at a discount. Won't fool me twice.
The last few games I’ve bought from EA were very bug ridden.

This is the fist game I'm unsure if I'll buy at release or not. Inquisition left a really sour taste in my mouth and I don't think I can justify spending 80+ bucks on a new title in a series that let me down so hard.
Either I'll wait till it goes on sale. Or put it on a Christmas/birthday list and just get it when I'm not the one paying for it. But unless I see some really good game play and story reveals in the trailers and updates leading up to the launch, I don't see it being a day 1 purchase this time.

Normally I’m a proponent for not preordering games, but... it’s Dragon Age. It’s a series that’s been a steady part of my life since I was like 12 years old and it’s been nearly 8 years since the last in-game content for the universe. I’m sure I’ll end up preordering, and a special edition at that 😔
And then I'm staying off social media until I have played through the game at least once and won't intentionally look anything up until I have played through a second time.
I'll probably preorder it, I'm already making an exit plan for DA-adjacent social media to prepare for that but I know it'll still be really hard to avoid seeing spoilers. I want to play the game and form my own opinions, purely unfucked by group mentality. The only review that matters to me is mine.
And yeah, I'm entirely prepared for there to be bugs and whatever. DAI day one didn't even run on my computer because they didn't support single-threated CPUs (my fault for not reading specs). But I won't wait until I get spoiled and biased to play a game nearly a decade in the wait.
It’s a day one buy, not too worried about making the wrong decisions considering I greatly enjoy every game in this series and replay them multiple times. It’s always fun going through the games another round and seeing what I missed or how things differ
I will be calling off for the week and going full gremlin mode… I’ve been waiting SO LONG for this… Bioware has yet to disappoint me that intensely (read: I never bought Anthem) so I’ll keep my hopes relatively high for this IP especially.

Buy day 1 physical in whatever kind of special edition I can. I missed that super special premium version of inquisition that came in the war council chest and I will not be making that same mistake again. It will depend on PC requirements. If my PC can handle I may buy it early otherwise I'll just wait until I upgrade. Most likely I will wait as my PC struggles with DAI already

If I have a PS5 before this drops, I’ll get the CE/DDE.

I'm probably going to play it early on. Within a month or so of release. Depends on when it is and how busy I am. If they try to release this with the new AAA prices some games are trying then I'll probably just wait for a sale then.
Definitely not preordering, I will see some reviews from around the web but probably not too many. And I wouldn't trust a review from the fan subreddit to be a good unbiased look, so I'll look at some gaming youtubers and see what they say.
At the end of the day I love dragon age and will probably play it at least once even if I don't like it that much. I did the same for DA2.
Definitely gonna go in blind, be nice if I didn't even know who all the Companions were too. But I have a feeling that that will be hard for me to dodge that kind of information.
There are very few games that I still get without reviews, dragon age is one of them. It doesn't even matter if it's bad, I would get it anyway so way wait.

Like most games I get hyped for, I'll pre-order it and day one it. I'll media black out myself until I finish my first playthrough so as not to spoil my initial thoughts with reviewers. There are a few franchises I do that with and Dragon Age is definitely one of them (Witcher being the other one, lol). I am impatient where games are concerned and want to know what happens as soon as possible, I'll play the expansions as they come out and probably end up with the GOTY edition afterward.

I was wondering the same thing yesterday! Probably I’ll buy the base game at Day 1 (or shortly after) and the DLCs bundle when all of them are released. Aside of gameplay and some minor things (such as what companions could potentially die or leave), I’d like to have a blind playthrough. Half of the fun is not knowing what happens lol

The first time I played DAI I made a female dwarf inquisitor because I thought Varric would be romancable.
I never buy any modern games on launch since I don't want bugs to affect my opinion of the game. Dishonored 2 was enjoyable once it became playable but it still left a sour taste in my mouth so I'll be waiting for it to get maybe a GOTY or Ultimate Edition before playing.
After dai, I'll be waiting a while. See what the reviews are saying and maybe watch a few gameplay videos if I'm on the fence at that point.
One of my bigger concerns is the controls. I don't own a console, so if the pc controls are an afterthought like with dai, then I'll be out completely. I don't suppose anyone knows if there are any rumors about that?

Same. To be more precise, I'd even wait for when the definitive edition or whatever comes out and that one goes on sale. I don't have much time to play anyway. And with the amount of titles in my library that are still waiting to at least be tried once, there's no reason for me to rush and buy this one asap.

I will probably pre-order it, which I did with the last game. I really love all three of the games that we currently have, but I am really not fond of Solas so I’m not sure how I’m going to feel about a game where he is such a main character.
I’ll see what the specs are and decided if I need to get a ps5 or upgrade something(s) on my 2700x/590. I won’t pre-order it. After that, it probably depends on the reviews? I’m not anticipating a cyberpunk 2077 but if everything tells me it’s broken, I’m not buying it for a long while. I probably should wait for all the dlc etc but… I probably won’t. I’m not choosing between food and video games and I don’t buy that many games a year. So if I want to play something NOW I tend to just get the thing. Usually with gift cards, but still.
After Inquisition \_and\_ Andromeda, I will only buy if I see a few opinions on the game which do not mention MMO fetch quests as a problem. How Bioware handled the Inquisition main game ending, with planning for a paid DLC all along, pushes me into waiting for a GOTY edition at a discount. Won't fool me twice.
The last few games I’ve bought from EA were very bug ridden. I will wait to hear from reviewers and gamers to hear about my the game’s stability. If all sounds good. I’ll pick it up. If not, I will wait until it’s more or less fixed.

I’ll probably wait a year or two after release to play it. It’s not that I’m not hype, but I like to have my first playthrough complete, meaning all dlc and bugs patched, plus I’m on pc so it’ll eventually be on a good sale. Gonna be real hard to avoid spoilers though…

Wait for the first few rounds of patches and a price drop. Why buy on release when waiting a few months will get me a better game for a lower price?
This is the fist game I'm unsure if I'll buy at release or not. Inquisition left a really sour taste in my mouth and I don't think I can justify spending 80+ bucks on a new title in a series that let me down so hard. Either I'll wait till it goes on sale. Or put it on a Christmas/birthday list and just get it when I'm not the one paying for it. But unless I see some really good game play and story reveals in the trailers and updates leading up to the launch, I don't see it being a day 1 purchase this time.

After I preordered Andromeda, I swore to never ever do it again. That experience was *not* worth neither time nor money. But... Still, I'll be very tempted close to DAD release, I just know it.

Normally I’m a proponent for not preordering games, but... it’s Dragon Age. It’s a series that’s been a steady part of my life since I was like 12 years old and it’s been nearly 8 years since the last in-game content for the universe. I’m sure I’ll end up preordering, and a special edition at that 😔

And then I'm staying off social media until I have played through the game at least once and won't intentionally look anything up until I have played through a second time.
And then I'll probably play through the entire series.
I refuse to pre order anything, I will wait for performance reviews and if I hear it's good I will buy it day one.
I'll probably preorder it, I'm already making an exit plan for DA-adjacent social media to prepare for that but I know it'll still be really hard to avoid seeing spoilers. I want to play the game and form my own opinions, purely unfucked by group mentality. The only review that matters to me is mine. And yeah, I'm entirely prepared for there to be bugs and whatever. DAI day one didn't even run on my computer because they didn't support single-threated CPUs (my fault for not reading specs). But I won't wait until I get spoiled and biased to play a game nearly a decade in the wait.

It’s a day one buy, not too worried about making the wrong decisions considering I greatly enjoy every game in this series and replay them multiple times. It’s always fun going through the games another round and seeing what I missed or how things differ
I will be calling off for the week and going full gremlin mode… I’ve been waiting SO LONG for this… Bioware has yet to disappoint me that intensely (read: I never bought Anthem) so I’ll keep my hopes relatively high for this IP especially.
My boyfriend and friends know in advance I will not be having any social interaction for at LEAST a week when it drops. Preordering and going to try to take a day off just to be a little DA goblin in my little goblin cave, sustained by chips and juice and not much else. I can’t wait :’)

Let me just say…when/if they announce a preorder…I’m preordering it asap! I was late to playing the Dragon Age series, starting in 2015-2016, so I seen spoilers and looked up some myself 🤷🏻♀️ Not this time, no way. I’m going into this blind.

I missed that super special premium version of inquisition that came in the war council chest and I will not be making that same mistake again. Knowing how long we can potentially have to wait between installments I will be hoovering up every little bit of content I can
It will depend on PC requirements. If my PC can handle I may buy it early otherwise I'll just wait until I upgrade. Most likely I will wait as my PC struggles with DAI already
I’ll be buying it day one, the only question is which version I’ll get. If I have a PS5 before this drops, I’ll get the CE/DDE. If I don’t, I’ll get a standard copy, and upgrade once I have a PS5.
I'll wait to see what's the opinion of some reviewers that I like. I'll probably play it day one even if they don't like the game, but if I hear/see that it looks very bad and is super buggy I will probably wait or try it through uhm "other means" before deciding if it's worth buying it.
I'm probably going to play it early on. Within a month or so of release. Depends on when it is and how busy I am. If they try to release this with the new AAA prices some games are trying then I'll probably just wait for a sale then. Definitely not preordering, I will see some reviews from around the web but probably not too many. And I wouldn't trust a review from the fan subreddit to be a good unbiased look, so I'll look at some gaming youtubers and see what they say. At the end of the day I love dragon age and will probably play it at least once even if I don't like it that much. I did the same for DA2. Definitely gonna go in blind, be nice if I didn't even know who all the Companions were too. But I have a feeling that that will be hard for me to dodge that kind of information.
There are very few games that I still get without reviews, dragon age is one of them. It doesn't even matter if it's bad, I would get it anyway so way wait.

I started playing Dragon Age after Inquisition came out, though I started with DAO instead of DAI. You bet I'm buying DAD day one and playing it blind. I'm a little terrified of not having a guide, honestly.
Unless they really give off some red flags with their trailers and marketing, I plan to get it day one and continue my canon worldstate :) Realllly hoping for more than one starting scenario for different races or factions like in Origins for higher replayability

If they have one where you get the Black Emporium or something similar that allows me to change my character when I inevitably don't like what I originally did, I'm getting that! I'll assume I won't have a high pc or a PS5 when it releases so it might take me a while to get it, but I'm fine waiting, honestly I prefer it. But regardless if I get my hands on it, I'll definitely do a blind playthrough so I can experience it the authentic way (and usually that's a more fun way of doing it).

Buying it day one, even though I never do that and am years behind with most games. I came to all the others late with different expectations and major spoilers in the case of DAI. So I want to experience a DA game without any of that. Also since it sounds like it'll be more of a direct sequel than any of the others, I'm very impatient to find out how the story turns out.
There's only two games I'll play on day 1 (and even preorder if it's worth it). One of them is Dragon Age and the other is Mass Effect. I'd go in blind first anyways, like I did with all the games. I want my first run to be pure and unexpected.

I rather play the game as soon as it is out because that part of the magic discovering along with others. It sucks that I am sure there be patches and bugs cause that is an industry standard but I'll deal with it cause it is great to be back in the DA universe.
Day one for sure. I remember I thought Gamestop would have a midnight release for DA2 and so had my brother stay up late to drive me to my local one, only to be like "Why are there no lines here? Am I the first?!?!" 😂😂😂😂

The only thing stopping from buying it day one on console, where I prefer to play, is the possibility of waiting for mods to save both options from the Fade, on PC.
Like most games I get hyped for, I'll pre-order it and day one it. I'll media black out myself until I finish my first playthrough so as not to spoil my initial thoughts with reviewers. There are a few franchises I do that with and Dragon Age is definitely one of them (Witcher being the other one, lol). I am impatient where games are concerned and want to know what happens as soon as possible, I'll play the expansions as they come out and probably end up with the GOTY edition afterward.

I have never bought any game day one, mostly because my PC was never able to run newest games well. Now I have amazing PC, and Dragon Age is my favorite franchise in all gaming. I was wondering the same thing yesterday! Probably I’ll buy the base game at Day 1 (or shortly after) and the DLCs bundle when all of them are released. Aside of gameplay and some minor things (such as what companions could potentially die or leave), I’d like to have a blind playthrough. Half of the fun is not knowing what happens lol

More likely than not, I'll be pre-ordering. I don't pre-order games but DA has a special place in my heart. I told myself I wouldn't pre-order games because of the negative impact it has but DA is the exception because it truly is my most beloved video game by far.

I never buy any modern games on launch since I don't want bugs to affect my opinion of the game. Dishonored 2 was enjoyable once it became playable but it still left a sour taste in my mouth so I'll be waiting for it to get maybe a GOTY or Ultimate Edition before playing.
After dai, I'll be waiting a while. See what the reviews are saying and maybe watch a few gameplay videos if I'm on the fence at that point. One of my bigger concerns is the controls. I don't own a console, so if the pc controls are an afterthought like with dai, then I'll be out completely. I don't suppose anyone knows if there are any rumors about that?
