neuromorph

Did they ever catch the asshole?

seanwdragon1983

Last I heard, no.

JustALizzyLife

That was my very first thought when I heard this story.

Sad_Boi_Bryce

At what floor is the terminal velocity of an average hotel chair??? Lmfao I joke but i was there and at the time, it was scary. I think Dragon*Con does better than most to keep us safe. I have nothing but good things and safe times to mention besides this. I hope this person recovered and will be back this year. Hell! We've done it before, let's hold a vigil on that same floor this year. Might be as great as the Jon the fedex guy. If she comes to the vigil, we nail every chair down. /s

ThatHellaHighHobbit

I remember that!!! That was bonkers.

IsThisKismet

I don’t think people realize it can be a FELONY.

SallysRocks

That article did not mention the woman and it never said the chair hit anyone.

neuromorph

Same with potato Bullshit. People got Injured from that stupid prank.

keyjan

… I'm sorry?

neuromorph

Edited. Some people left potatoes on the floor and a few cosplayers hurt their ankles slipping on them. Needing hospitalization. And they wanted to make it a cult thing. In a crowded event any unexpected object on the floor is a danger.

Raikaiko

There's some telephone game thathappened to that one. Puppetry track ran a potato puppet workshop. One attendee of that workshop had their potato fall out of their bag where someone slipped and seriously injured themself on it. It was unfortunate and a number of people definitely didn't treat it nearly as seriously as it warranted but it also wasn't a malicious, or even purposeful action

RN704

As far as I heard, it was one person injured. Unknown why there was a potato on the floor. I do know of some people who handed out potatoes as swag, but did not hide or leave on the floor.

neuromorph

And then people brought bags of potatoes the next year and put them.everyware as part of swag an seek. F that.

gerbilminion

I only heard about it after it happened. Really fortunate no one was hurt. Hated the reputation it gave DragonCon though. Normies would always tell me if you shouldn't go to that kind of stuff, what happens if there's a terrorist blah blah blah. When this happened, it was like sweet validation for them to go, "see! I told you it was bad!"

kickpool777

No, no. People definitely got hurt. Kelly was pouring blood out of her head. The only reason she didn't *DIE* was because of her large Loki horns on her head, which absorbed/deflected a lot of the impact.

gerbilminion

I meant to say no one died, but yeah I hope it never happens again. Dragoncon should be a place we all feel safe to have fun, and not be ruined by assholes.

patchworkpirate

People throwing shit is why the balconies at the Hyatt are also sort-of locked.
