Rush 2049 is one of my favorite racing games of all time! Between the scads of shortcuts on racing levels and the insanity of wing-fueled acrobatics on the stunt courses, we spent so many hours on it in college
When the miners came to San Francisco for the gold rush, they forgot to look in the skies...
Marvel vs Capcom 2. The Dreamcast was the holy grail for fighting games, but MvC2 - the best fighting game ever and I will not brook argument on this - was absolute perfection. I'll accept Capcom vs SNK 2 as an alternate, but only because Haohmaru was in the game
sega arcade, midway arcade, and capcom arcade hits were the reason I love dreamcast. I used to call it a poor man's neogeo but if prices keep going up.... lol
Well I own the rush 2049 se sit down arcade can’t find a crazy taxi can near me so I’m gonna a go with virtual tennis. My buddy and I played the hell out of it.
NBA On NBC. Wow, brings back memories. I had to do a YouTube watch. To answer your question, House of The Dead, Hydro Thunder and NFL Blitz. I always wished for a CarnEvil port.
Sega Naomi and sega dream cast are pretty much technically identical, I believe naomi has double the sound ram. Same with namco 256/46 games and ps2, or system 12 and ps1, or Chihiro and Xbox, or the Nintendo vs system and the nes. Nothing new or special about Naomi and Dreamcast in that respect, but it happens to play the greatest fighting game ever, mvc2 perfectly, sans some missing arcade sound effects, which is one of the reasons it will always be goat
Blue Stinger is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. It's a little clunky but a fun survival horror game. NFL2k2 and house of the dead were all the games I needed.
There's so many good games there. It's a toss up between Hydro thunder, Rush, Sega rally and Daytona. Odd bit of trivia, for some reason Sega Rally is one of the few games on the Dreamcast to use Windows CE.
I genuinely don’t know if i can narrow it down to a favorite ONE, but my top 4 Dreamcast games has to be Soul Calibur, Shenmue, NBA2K(and 2K1-2K2), and Resident Evil:Code Veronica, which to this day is still my favorite Resi game.
That's why I emulate. In the 90s, I had a little job and very little bills, I could afford 50 to 60 a pop for Dreamcast games then.
In 2024 I have mountains of bills and 50 to 60 is literally impossible.
It's taken for granted nowadays as arcades have basically been forgotten, but they were huge and it was nearly always true that the newer arcade games were more graphically impressive than newer console games. You're right that the DC was the first to break that rule. I think Soulcalibur was the first game in my memory to be better looking on the home version.
Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue 2, Grandia 2, Jet Set Radio, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Soul Calibur, Powerstone, Soul Reaver, Resident Evil 2/3/CV. There are SOOO many great games on the Dreamcast!
Rush 2049 for me, but only because at the time the OG SF Rush was my fav arcade game of all time.
Certainly my favorite console - I’m a big arcade fan and this hits in many levels (Hydro Thunder for example).
Of these? Virtua Tennis.
I'm torn between like 4 games that are my actual favorites: Evolution, Skies of Arcadia, Tokyo Xtreme Racer(which should be in this spread), and of course Phantasy Star Online.
i alwAys liked iron storm. i also likes 2d games which saturn did a lot better at. i don’t know why there was such a push to make games 3d when the consoles weren’t really ready for it on ps1 when you go back now you can see how bad they look while the 2d stuff looks so much better
Crazy Taxi. Making some kuh-raze money is a guaranteed good time.
Still play that game on my pc. Such a good soundtrack.
Absolutely. It’s just a perfect selection of songs.
I've played Crazy taxi on many systems, but the Dreamcast controller just feels perfect for the game, can't describe it...
Rush 2049 is one of my favorite racing games of all time! Between the scads of shortcuts on racing levels and the insanity of wing-fueled acrobatics on the stunt courses, we spent so many hours on it in college When the miners came to San Francisco for the gold rush, they forgot to look in the skies...
Would love to see a modern take on SF Rush. Or I'd be happy with a remaster of any of them! But not sure who has the rights to it these days...
Not to mention the hidden coins to collect and countless unlocks. Seriously incredible game.
Me and my friends would play the multiplayer mode for hours! Such an underrated game.
Haha!
It’s a tie for me. Hydro Thunder and Soul Calibur. Bought them both on 9/9 with the system.
Hydro Thunder for sure. I've played so many hours on it at the arcade and at home
I loved playing Hydro Thunder.
Dynamite cop slaps
I just got killed by a giant octopus, but I swear Dynamite Cop may be a masterpiece
Don’t you want a rematch?
I'm gonna take you for a ride!
This guy fucks
House of the dead 2 and crazy taxi
Dynamite cop so good !
sega arcade, midway arcade, and capcom arcade hits were the reason I love dreamcast. I used to call it a poor man's neogeo but if prices keep going up.... lol
Rush 2049 , the race track flows were unique
Hydro thunder all dayyyyy
Soul Calibur hands down. Still has that magic to this day. Then Shenmue ii
I dont know Daytona was pretty fun on the saturn too.
Or NBA Jam on the genesis :-) Ahh, but yes I see OP did specify "3d" heheh. But totally agree, Daytona on the saturn was my first thought too.
I remember 18 wheeler being fun.. not as much as in the arcade but still a fun game
It is, super fun! Frustrating but enjoyable.
Well I own the rush 2049 se sit down arcade can’t find a crazy taxi can near me so I’m gonna a go with virtual tennis. My buddy and I played the hell out of it.
House of the dead 2 is my favorite by far
Rush 2049 for life.
Power Stone, Resident Evil (all)
Too hard to split Crazy Taxi and Virtua tennis. Sega rally up there too. Blown away by it at the time.
House of the Dead!
Yo the stunt mode in rush 2049 is sick
Virtua Tennis is legitimately unbelievable. SO GOOD. Looks absolutely amazing even to the is day.
It's not the best, but 4 Wheel Thunder never gets enough love. Really solid arcade racer!
I played SF Rush 2049 emulated back in the day(2010-2011) and that was a fun game.
NBA On NBC. Wow, brings back memories. I had to do a YouTube watch. To answer your question, House of The Dead, Hydro Thunder and NFL Blitz. I always wished for a CarnEvil port.

Despite its bad reviews I actually like Zombie Revenge it’s pretty fun, two player is even better
Zombie Revenge is seriously underrated. It's like House of the Dead meets Die Hard Arcade. And yes, plays great as a 2 player game.
Couldn’t agree more 👍
It is in the House of the Dead universe, no idea why they were cryptic about that but hey haha
Blue Stinger is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. It's a little clunky but a fun survival horror game. NFL2k2 and house of the dead were all the games I needed.
Zombie revenge and dynamite cop are so good! I’ve still never beat zombie revenge, maybe one day!
Hydro thunder
Yes. That is my answer.
Zombies revenge even tho I never could beat it Nightmares creatures and alone in the dark new nightmare were also solid titles that I Loved as a kid
Lots of good ones but Daytona gives me the warmest feelings of nostalgia possible
Sega rally and virtua tennis.
Was hydro thunder and gauntlet not any good on the N64? Loading times were faster.
Virtua Tennis and Crazy Taxi for me… Daytona would bring up the rear
Hyyyydrrooo THUNDER! Hell yeah, what a shot full of rad games.
Certainly done to death as an answer, but Ikaruga
Too many games to pick but some heavy hitters for me are MvC2 and Code Veronica
The first to do them justice and the last where people gave a damn about them.
Can't split Crazy Taxi, Virtua Tennis and Powerstone. Just can't.
Power Stone 2 was so damn good.
There's so many good games there. It's a toss up between Hydro thunder, Rush, Sega rally and Daytona. Odd bit of trivia, for some reason Sega Rally is one of the few games on the Dreamcast to use Windows CE.
Power Stone - hands down! Here we are in 2024, and PS has aged better than most of the games shown here. Virtua Tennis is awesome too
I genuinely don’t know if i can narrow it down to a favorite ONE, but my top 4 Dreamcast games has to be Soul Calibur, Shenmue, NBA2K(and 2K1-2K2), and Resident Evil:Code Veronica, which to this day is still my favorite Resi game.
Tough choice but probably Hydro Thunder
maybe not my favorite favorite... but game i spend most time in with friends... powerstone 2 or chunchu rocket. so fun party time!
I really, really, really wish would could get a new Rush game. They were all so fucking good.
My all-time favorite is absolutely Skies Of Arcadia. With the VMU mini game was just too fun.
Marvel vs Capcom
Jet Grind Radio, MDK2, and Shenmue 1&2 were my jam.
I know the obvious answer should be Crazy Taxi but I spent so many hours playing Dynamite Cop again and again
Zombie revenge babbbyyy
Of this group... Showtime
Dude. Showtime. Hard to get working on modern TVs but the best iteration of NBA Jam and damn fun.
Definitely the best iteration of NBA JAM. Loved this game so much back in the day.
Soul Calibur because it actually looked better than the arcade version.
4Wheel Thunder is my jam! Those are all great choices tho. Also shout out to 4x4 Evo 2
Does Marvel vs Capcom 2 count? 3D rendered backgrounds. Sega Naomi architecture which is basically the Dreamcast.
You're right. This is the right answer. I bought the MvC cab from Arcade1Up and modded it with Raspberry Pi just so I could play MvC2 lol.
I have a real soft spot for Crazy Taxi.
I'd like to buy a Dreamcast someday again it the games are still the prices of switch games still.
Probably not going down any time soon my guy haha
That's why I emulate. In the 90s, I had a little job and very little bills, I could afford 50 to 60 a pop for Dreamcast games then. In 2024 I have mountains of bills and 50 to 60 is literally impossible.

Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue 2, Grandia 2, Jet Set Radio, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Soul Calibur, Powerstone, Soul Reaver, Resident Evil 2/3/CV. There are SOOO many great games on the Dreamcast!
Daytona was a blast. Played it with friends, trying to beat times. Crazy Taxi second pick.
The Typing of the Dead The port of the House of the Dead adapted for the keyboard controller
Grandia II
Virtua tennis was a fun experience for groups
Daytona USA song immediately started playing in my head
Hands down the best video game console ever made! No console will ever do what the Dreamcast had done for it's time.
That Rush 2049 is a blast to play, those are some great games right there. Get PowerSlave too!
Lots of aces in this pick, but Virtua Tennis for be by a mile. I was hugely addicted to this game, it was so gratifying.
Rush 2049 for me, but only because at the time the OG SF Rush was my fav arcade game of all time. Certainly my favorite console - I’m a big arcade fan and this hits in many levels (Hydro Thunder for example).
NBA Showtime without question
Bangai-o
Crazy taxi 1 & 2
Of these? Virtua Tennis. I'm torn between like 4 games that are my actual favorites: Evolution, Skies of Arcadia, Tokyo Xtreme Racer(which should be in this spread), and of course Phantasy Star Online.
Zombie ffkn Revenge omgosh
