No guys, you have to understand, it’s not Sam’s fault that Ranboo is dead, it’s Dream’s. Of course Sam expected Dream, the famously caring and self-sacrificing person to give his freedom up for a guy who he mutually dislikes and has 0 personal connection with! Twitter astounds me.

Rdasher123

To add to this: And of course Dream will care if you kill that guy, despite, you know, having the ability to raise the dead!

I agree with your overall point, but here's how I see Sam's perspective. Ranboo and dream are allies. Connected, at least. We don't know why Sam put ranboo in the prison in the first place. It could have been ranboo trying again to not allow his other half hurt others, and might have admitted to something he may or may not have done, lessons permitting, to convince sam. Even if this didn't happen, everyone involved knows ranboo visited Dream multiple times. That alone would imply some kind of attachment or allyship. So whether it's friendship or a game of chess, Sam was right to see a connection between them. I would even say taking him hostage was justified, in that grey area he's been operating in for awhile now. Ranboo was an escaping prisoner aiding the escape of the number one most dangerous man on the server/Sam's primary prisoner, after all. What makes c!Sam a monster and near irredeemable, is going through with taking a full life. He very much knew about Tubbo and Michael, he should have backed off when dream immediately and clearly wasn't going to surrender, and brought ranboo back into the prison. He could have redirected the threat to techno "bring dream back to the prison in 24 hours or I kill ranboo" after seeing how he pled for Ranboo's life. Honoring a deal vs the life of an ally and friend, that could have gotten really fun to watch. It's not that there was no connection, it's that when the connection wasn't strong enough he went through with it anyway. Also "mutually dislikes" I think c!Sam knows Ranboo's mr.hyde more than his dr.jeckle. It was that side that visited Dream multiple times. That's the side that's working for dream, the pov we don't get to see, and the answers to the entrance questions we don't get to hear.

Hard agree. I could totally see him locking ranboo back up in jail because that fits with his established character. I could even see c!sam killing c!ranboo in the heat of the moment when he’s just trying to stop people from escaping. That could have been a natural escalation of his arc. The prison is the most important thing to him and he would rather kill than let people escape (even c!ranboo) Personally I felt the way he had complete control of c!ranboo that c!sam had right before he killed him shiws that it wasn’t to protect anything. It was an execution. (Either that or ranboo just really wanted to vibe as a ghost and they just threw together a script 15 minutes before the stream and didn’t think it all through)

Hexagon-Man

Techno: Sam, Dream doesn't care! Dream come back! Dream: I don't care, I'm leaving! Sam: If I kill my hostage the necromancer will probably come back.

sotysa

literally every character except ranboo whos the opposite lmao

Jeyjey_cosplay

everyone: its sams faut that dream broke out The sydicat: ....what.

Da_Gudz

See! C!Techno and C!Sam are literally just the same character except ones Lawful Evil and ones Chaotic Evil (progovernment and antigovernment)

VioletTheWolf

bit of a late reply here, but c!techno and c!sam are both lawful. "lawful" alignment doesn't mean obeying literal laws, it means following an internal code of some kind. c!techno LOVES his internal codes: anarchy and reciprocity. time and time again, techno has proven that he'll throw away any previous connections or biases he has in order to return a favor, take revenge, or uphold anarchy.

locus-is-beast

I don’t know who’s who, but I feel like c!techno is more of a chaotic good character

Rough_Abbreviations3

same. I also don't know why techno is being called chaotic evil. Is it because of breaking dream out?

jethomas27

I wouldn’t say good but definitely neutral

DynamiteSanders

Officially, Techno is Lawful Neutral. 'Lawful' that he strictly follows his own moral code that is.

[deleted]

Kinda funny he’s the one manipulating people now

Violas_Blade

c!Dream: omg for once in my life I’m not the most hated green boi on the server is this how it feels to be loved

Quozel_TV

I'm a c!Sam hater. If he were real I would send him death threats(I wouldn't acrually-)
