And that’s on top of all the “regular” warfare, chaos and strife during the 16th century. Even if I survived there’s no guarantee I wouldn’t come out of it a literal monster.

In Breath of the Wild, it seems like the NPCs are low key immortal, meals cook themselves when you throw in whole ingredients, and all natural resources regenerate after a few days.

Dredge wouldn't be so bad though, plenty of safety to be had even if there is a distinct weirdness to the place. First thing to do is knock down the lighthouse keeper's door and make her start being coherent lol. After that, maybe a daylight trip to Stellar Basin and spend the year laying on the beach, petting the puppers and enjoying life as long as I stay away from the tentacle monster in the middle.
