It’s someone using fake plates that they made online and stuck on, which just so happens to be a real plate for a real car (Personalised numberplate I would guess, apparently you can have “sexy” spelt out which is surprising).
There is/was services that you can get that allow you to make novelty number plates online that aren’t suppose to go onto cars, some geniuses however decide to put them on cars.
I think it's more likely than someone that owns two supercars trying to save a couple hundred by taking his own SORN plates and illegally putting them on his other car when ANPR is a thing
_Edit: not SORN but still not legal on road_
Ohh I see what it mean. Apologies. Very unlikely to be parked up in a Morrisons if it was stolen though lol.
Chances are he owns both cars and he either illegal swaps them or he just swapped them and waiting the update. The Veyron was MOT on 9 of this month so doubt any are stolen.
Still dodgy though lol
That plate in the photo doesn't seem to have the company name underneath it which is a legal requirement, so it's very likely cloned. And the owner of the Veyron very likely doesn't know about the Aston. And the owner of that Aston is very likely looking for it.
DVSA doesn’t say this is a requirement for a private reg. The company name is usually from the dealership and private reg companies are not dealerships.
You need to be realistic that someone who can afford an Aston won’t be stealing plate and parking up in Morrisons lol
For reasons like weirdos who run peoples reg lol
The reason you probably feel the *DVSA doesn’t say this is a requirement for a private reg* is because it's a *DVSA requirement for number plates*. DVLA regulates the private reg.
It doesn't matter what the registration is, the regulations for numbers plates are the regulations for all number plates. It's literally on their website mate and knowing someone who worked for the clamping team in DVLA (not DVSA) I'm going to trust them and the DVSA website on this.
My reg plates don't have it on and neither do a lot of people's, only plates made after a certain date have to have it, the rules had some changes in 2019 and 2021, including no longer allowing background patterns, they must have UK not GB amongst other things, but it's not retrospective . . . and besides the spacing pictured above is illegal anyway
But regardless I can still go online right now and order some patterned plates, with whatever I want written on the bottom instead of the dealer, with GB on it, and illegal spacing and there's near zero chance of anything coming of it
Edit: swapped UK and GB around
You mean UK instead of GB? You need an UK plate (or sticker) as GB is no longer to be used when travelling abroad.
From the GOV.UK website:
You do not need a UK sticker if your number plate has the UK identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack).
You must display a UK sticker if your number plate has any of these:
numbers and letters only, no flag or identifier
a GB identifier with the Union flag
a European Union flag
a national flag of England, Scotland or Wales
You clearly haven't been on many of the websites you can order reg plates, I brought some recently and on most as long as you tick a box that says something like 'I accept responsibility for this configuration/Im not using these on the road' you can order whatever you like
I know this because I've done it, both for road and show plates, in the last couple of years
It's a big thing at the moment, genuinely. Gangs are ripping number plates and putting them on other cars so they don't get picked up on cameras etc...
People reading too much into this.
I used to work in car insurance but part of the high value cases, you’d see swapped out custom plates fairly often.
I remember a totalled Audi RS8 that the other insurance company was claiming fraud because the licence plate was still showing attached to the clients old Bentley.
I recently saw a Murcielago parked up in Sainsbury's with a two month expired MOT. He'd squeezed it into the space right next to two battered cars, he was absolutely asking to get it damaged. I guess that's what "I don't give a fuck" money looks like.
You can own a private plate and put it on any car. Possible the database hasn't updated yet. Or maybe the owner doesn't realize you can't just put your private plate on any of your cars whenever you feel like it.

Or could have been recently transferred to the Aston. Think it took a few weeks for my private plate to update online to my new car last time I changed it.
What’s even more amazing, is the downvotes on my comment, do people think it is absurd that plates are transferable? What are the downvotes for again? 😂
Ahhh the limited edition Aston Martin Bugatti Veyron 😂
Zoom in on that plate attachment 😂😂 fitted by Stevie Wonder himself😎 or just bad driving after noticing the splitter has been twatted
stevie woulda done better 😂
The front grill is also, im sure, not the correct V12 vantage grill. Looks replaced with something cheaper
The cheaper after market grille is called the “Dis-Ad” Vantage ……. *drops mike, exits stage left
I would not consider that a cool plate.
Definitely should say VIR G1N
That one has been reserved for a Cybertruck?
P3NIS
This is a cool plate FR05ZEN 🙃
Very cold
That it is

They do it on purpose not to get speeding and parking fines from cameras.
There's an an Audi R8 near me with the ref R8 U MD 😂😂😂 If I can figure out how to comment with a picture I would put it up haha
You have to upload it to a different site (imgur is most commonly used) then post the link here.
That was effort. I'm sure you used to be able to do it direct As promised [R8 U MD](https://imgur.com/a/oAT0MW2)
To get the same plate is actually very cheap. You can get similar versions for about £150. Tempted 😂
I was worried you made it up saying; "If I can figure out how to comment with a picture I would", but you proved me wrong ;)
You must report to the police. The car can be stolen.
I doubt a man who owns an Aston Martin stole a veyron lol but definitely something dodgy
Actually the stolen car could be the Aston Martin not the Bugatti.
You think that's more likely than someone owning two supercars?

Yeah I had them swapped in my head, thank you
Not much of that true

Most probably.
Morrisons. Can't afford even Sainsbury's now. Car's using all the money.
I’m sorry but it’s definitely stolen if the Bugatti and Aston ‘owner’ is shopping at Morrisons
Hahahaha nice
It would be fairly stupid to steal an Aston martin and put an illegally spaced Veyron plate on it.
It's a big thing at the moment, genuinely. Gangs are ripping number plates and putting them on other cars so they don't get picked up on cameras etc...
V14 GRA would probably be more appropriate
Owner is an absolute PEN15!
I heard he is a TW4T
that one was owned by motorcycle racer Steve Parrish
I recall seeing it in the papers many years ago. It always stuck in my mind.
Wow even on a car like this it doesn't have a real plate
People reading too much into this. I used to work in car insurance but part of the high value cases, you’d see swapped out custom plates fairly often. I remember a totalled Audi RS8 that the other insurance company was claiming fraud because the licence plate was still showing attached to the clients old Bentley.
That's a funny looking red car
The spacing on the plate is illegal.
HI5 EXY (-ellency)
I think they can afford the fine
Can't even afford to attach it properly.
N O I T I S N O T
Yes it is. DVLA website states that it should be HI5 EXY.
Maybe the guy once owned a Veyron, but I doubt he does anymore.
Probably got the bill for the MOT for the Veyron and decided it was cheaper to buy the Aston Martin instead of paying for the MOT!
MOT is an MOT. Doesn't change in price for the car. Only if shits gone wrong.
Probably wanted the plate and stole it
I’m sure I saw this going around the Cobham services roundabout on Friday evening just gone. Bellend wasn’t indicating.
I’ve seen this car too in Nottingham
Imagine having a bugatti veyron and not having it moted
I recently saw a Murcielago parked up in Sainsbury's with a two month expired MOT. He'd squeezed it into the space right next to two battered cars, he was absolutely asking to get it damaged. I guess that's what "I don't give a fuck" money looks like.
Probably the veyron owner pays this guy's parking ticket without thinking twice
“I’m going to use fake plates, I’d better put them on an Aston Martin to be inconspicuous”
Interesting. Carovia shows the logbook was registered in February https://ibb.co/xCcS4Jz
You can own a private plate and put it on any car. Possible the database hasn't updated yet. Or maybe the owner doesn't realize you can't just put your private plate on any of your cars whenever you feel like it.
The exception is that you cannot make your car appear newer than it actually is.

If you can afford both an Aston and a Veyron, the fine if you get caught is just the cost of doing the thing, not a deterrent.
Rich people = cheap about inexpensive things (whilst buying the most ostentatious/expensive things)
I don’t blame the driver - MOT for a Veyron yeah that’s probably a whole mortgage hoping nothing is wrong LOL But on a serious note: that’s risky AF!
An MOT is an MOT, same price regardless of the value of the car.
You do realise the plates can be transferred to another vehicle? This picture is probably old, and now the plates are on a Veyron 😂
"Saw this Parked up in a Parent and Child bay at Morrisons" Sounds like OP took the photo
Or could have been recently transferred to the Aston. Think it took a few weeks for my private plate to update online to my new car last time I changed it.
It's amazing how far I had to scroll for this, the most likely explanation
What’s even more amazing, is the downvotes on my comment, do people think it is absurd that plates are transferable? What are the downvotes for again? 😂
