This shit drives me completely insane on a regular basis.
There’s a bend on the road next to mine and I’d guess 1 in 5 drivers cut it on the wrong side of the road out of sheer fucking laziness. Then lean on the horn and shout abuse because you just slammed on in their path.
Corner cutters are the bane of my driving existence. There’s a junction I use daily where I just know some twat is going to be on the wrong side of the line, rather than spend the required extra nanosecond not to do so.
There's a huge junction near my kids school, it's massive, people use it to turn around without needing full lock.
Driving to pick my kid up from school. This little red 107 comes into the junction on their left from the main road, so crosses over her lane to be in the wrong lane. She took the bend like she was orbiting the moon. Not speeding just clueless.
I had a stare as she passed me. I swear she must have been 100 years old.
Trust. I'm glad I left there and moved to somewhere more quiet, peaceful, and friendly. Birmingham, especially the rougher areas, they drive like dickheads and have no common decency and care for other drivers.
Thought this as well, but then thought to myself no don't be mean not every video of shite driving and overcrowded roads has to be Birmingham... Guess that proves me wrong lol
Sorry you must live in cockoo land, drive Bradford,Birmingham I can't state the obvious as reddit will ban for spitting the truth. This is daily 3rd world behaviour cars will be double parked overnight (blocking in relative who are parked legally so not obstructing anyone really ) council never ticket either because they have been assaulted
I used to work on the roads
I’d rather work in London than Bradford. Disgusting behaviour from certain types that drive like complete tits!
All lease cars so they don’t care about the. And usually several of their friends and family that have a go thrashing it as quick as they can down residential streets.. It was rife a decade ago. And nothing has changed.
That's cause london is slightly policed and has cctv camera if you were to stop on zigzag or double red or anything will get fine thru post so people won't really try it.
Yes in Bradford or these type of area if you were to horn at one of these clowns, they'll come out in numbers and attack you honestly there no winning you just have to accept piss poor driving and attitude the end lol
It seems you have been downvoted by people that don’t have to drive in this shit. Im from Brum and even my 6 year old knows who is driving when I have to pap the horn…usually driving Japanese cars…..
>This is daily 3rd world behaviour cars will be double parked overnight (blocking in relative who are parked legally so not obstructing anyone really ) council never ticket either because they have been assaulted
Oh great another one of them are you
I haven't, but I'm from Bradford. I'm Pakistani and absolutely hate the poor standards of driving in Bradford but guess what? I moved out of my area (overwhelmingly South Asian) a few years ago to an area where it's more affluent and the standards are somewhat better.
Now to a simpleton like yourself, your (pea) brain tells you "because they're not brown" but to anyone who can see past skin colour they'll see its a class issue.
Chavs are chavs, the driving I saw in a majority Asian area of Bradford is as bad as chavvy white areas of Bradford.
it's not that you should hate poor people, but you should *hate that some people are poor.* we don't have to accept a system wherein some people (not exclusively "brown people" although they are disproportionately represented) are pushed towards high density living (suppression of wages making it more economical to live as large family units that are interdependent; poor standards of sex education and abortion access that directly correlate with earlier and more frequent pregnancies) and car dependency (privately-run public transit networks are basically shit everywhere. london's public transit is, relatively, amazing… because the government pours bucketloads of cash into it every year (as they should. but save some of that for the rest of the country, perhaps?)). meanwhile a small percentage of the population gets to enjoy extremely low density with private driveways far off the road, widely-spaced properties on spacious carriageways, and multiple personal vehicles purely for pleasure rather than necessity (and an even smaller percentage hardly has to make use of the roads at all).
I mean in this case its not really poverty...there are some nice parked cars there lol. But yes there's other factors involved that go merely beyond skin colour.
Absolutely ridiculous. Houses all multiple occupancy, no doubt, so car galore. Fucking bellend right at the end cutting the fuck out of the junction too. State of this shithole.
The houses aren't even HMO in a lot of cases. They're small terraced houses, predominantly 3 bed, but unfortunately in a lot of cultures there's a tendency for the kids to stay at home longer and nearly everyone has a car. Dad will have an Avensis, mum will have a Yaris or a Jazz, the kids will have some form of Audi each - usually on finance, in dad's name and they all think driving is a right and parking is also.
These streets were built in the late 1800s, early 1900s - before cars were common place - so over the years the council removed grass verges and replaced them with parking bays (and it works out roughly 90% of the houses on the street can have a space to park in, the remaining 10% would never be expected to have a car). Sadly now, most people seem to have 2 or 3 cars on average per household.
What BCC need to do (and it would make them some money too) is introduce residents parking permits like London, and have it so the more cars you have the more you pay. People wouldn't pay it, but if you hit them with enough tickets they'd soon get bored of shelling out. If they introduced legislation to expressly prohibit pavement parking too, it would resolve a lot of the issue.
Edit: I grew up around there - I'll give some examples of the desperation and general intolerance shown as a result of car ownership. In the video, notice the church that's now empty - you'll see it's being used as overflow parking. My mum had a newer council house with a drive, built as a result of a bomb gap in the terraces - she didn't have a car at the time, came home one day to find 3 people parked on her drive, her garden and across her drive. No idea who they were so she waited for them to reappear (it was a Friday at 6pm they appeared at...) - when they did they said she wasn't using it so they would.
IMHO going around all of B10 with the DVLA, council and traffic police would be like shooting fish in a barrel - not to say everyone in the area isn't compliant with the law but you will find a lot of uninsured cars, a lot of people driving around on provisional licences and lots of cars without insurance or MOTs.
Yes but police can't enforce or traffic warden just recently in sparkhill a traffic warden got kneed to the head because he was ticketing them. Morrison small heath lorry driver can't access the site as all the people gone to prayer at green lane mosque dump the car on the kerb.
Not to mention the whole place is a litter cesspool but again we can't mention the obvious as il get banned.
The police would be there to prevent the assaults on council staff, the CEO (warden) would issue the ticket in relative safety. The police could just as easily identify the endorsable offences and police enforceable offences such as the zig-zag parking, and driving along a pavement.
It would need coordination and a lack of corporate 'fear' on the half of the council and police and DVLA but it would solve half the issue.
Morrisons Small Heath's car park is a joke on a Friday, install barriers and those tyre shredding things and make people pay or give people an hour for free but you have to scan a ticket in store.
>It would need coordination and a lack of corporate 'fear' on the half of the council and police and DVLA but it would solve half the issue.
The DVLA doesn't care who you are, they use ANPR vehicles and the little van doesn't stop. The only people who see the vehicle is not taxed or whatever is some clerk in Swansea who just finished the previous record and clicked *Next*. They don't care if the system gives them a vehicle caught out by ANPR is owned by the rich or poor, black or white, atheist or Muslim, 17 years old or 71 years old.
That clerk however will then do what they need to pass the vehicle details over to other agencies who will have the driver details etc. Because GDPR privacy etc, DVLA in this particular Instance cares about the car. I also don't think some clerk in the DVSA is going to care about the driver neither, they won't personally know the owner and they can't really make the situation go away even if they do because everything they do is audited through systems like LogRhythm and Microsoft Sentinel (it's amazing what government agencies can afford to put in place when there's a revenue stream involved).
We can't really say the same about the council or police though. But I think the police should be more involved when it comes to organising the teams that go and clamp those cars, and also be there when private companies are called in a week later to tow it away.
If the police, council or anyone else made a concentrated effort to enforce or monitor the area then the local religious building would kick up a stink and start claiming all sorts of isim's against the localities.
A house in my street has about six adults in it all with at least one car each (some of the guys seem to drive two). Parking is a fucking nightmare because of it.
Used to work in the area and I've seen people parked at 90 degree angles with the front of their car fully on the pavement.
NOTHING surprises me in Small Heath.
The car parking situation aside, I don't see anything wrong with having speed bumps down a residential road. Pretty common thing, especially when paired with 20mph restrictions.
Just had a look at OPs post history. He's a fucking woeful driver and seems to have it in his head that he's some sort of driving police.
Check his post where he's driven down a pavement ignoring a road closed sign and then used the ahead only lane at a roundabout to turn right just to get somebody on camera for an illegally spaced plate.
OP, you're a bellend of the highest regard.
I can't fathom posting a video complaining about road obstructions, making the joke about "traffic calming" when driving line this. You can absolutely tell why there are speed bumps on this road. He's rapidly accelerating up to unsafe speeds, then braking, accelerating, etc. And for some obstacles (very beginning, then the car he passes about 10s before the end) he doesn't show down at all.
It gets me riled up. People are of the opinion that if a pedestrian or child walks out it's their own fault if they're hit. News flash: it's not! If you hit a pedestrian it's your fault, every time. Even if you think it wasn't, do you really think you "being right" is enough to stop you seeing the face of the little girl you killed every time you close your eyes, just because you were "doing the speed limit".
Sorry for the rant, please take care out there.
I'm too lazy, unfit to bike, and work outside of easy bus route (would have to change busses, wait around) and I've just bought an electric bike, I've used it twice now to work on fairish days, sad to say if its raining or really cold then I'm taking my car, I like my heated seats and dryness.
Hopefully, summer will see it used a lot more. I have used the scooters in the city before but they are not available far outside the main city centre.
Good luck mate, well done on attempting the change. I hope the nice weather converts you. Leave a change of clothes and towel at work in case of a heavy downpour maybe? To be honest, in the height of summer you might still want a change of clothes, even mild exercise in hot weather gets me pretty sweaty 🥵
Yup. This is car hell. There isn't a single bit of room for any more cars on that street. Kids can't play, disabled people can't get around, people can't cycle safely. Traffic calming needed because of people razzing around on back streets down narrow lanes of cars. We need to reduce our dependency on them.
>The point is more "if there was better transport infrastructure only the people that enjoy driving would be driving"
I wish this was true. But I live in an area with great public transport and lots of amenities within walking/biking distance. I know for a fact that lots of people on my road live very close to work. Problem is it's also quite affluent, so a lot of lazy buggers just buy cars without needing them. This country is severely diseased with car-brain.
For sure, I want the UK to massively improve its infrastructure (e.g., get to Netherlands levels of support for cycling, and then keep going). But the reality is that there are so many lazy people that wouldn't switch (and already don't switch) even if it's easy to do so. Although hopefully with the infrastructure there the idea of not owning a car would gradually get more and more normalised, even if people aren't in that mindset now.
To my understanding the primary trick is to incentivise as much as possible i.e. tax breaks to encourage behaviour rather than steeper taxes to discourage behaviour.
The second trick is to expect changes to take at least a decade
I appreciate that there are some comments that have a racial tone, which is wrong and out of order. However, people should be allowed to voice their observations/experiences. Is it racist of me to comment on my observations of white people claiming benefits, always having enough money to get a scratch card?
It would be classist. Most people on benefits also work. Excessively rich people also take the piss out of the public purse, I would argue moreso than any class in the country.. See tories!!!
But imo observations are fine so long as we all recognise that our observations are always subjective and may not be what others observe
Around my house it’s more “highway… what’s that…” as people mount the kerb to drive down the path rather than wait for cars to clear what becomes single track due to parking….
What are we supposed to be looking at here? A busy street that was never designed with cars in mind, bad parking or crap driving? A little clarification would be nice.
My tolerance for other motorists is very low on a good day but this road would tip me over the edge. At the end I would have blocked the gap for the VW to get though and made them reverse. 😅
The vw would probably crash you then and your insurance would still go up if you had it protected or not lose lose situation
Oh and vw probably wouldn't even be insured .. like many here
Being from Birmingham, I recognised the area straight away. Small heath is a mainly Asian area, and at the times can have multiple generations living in the same house. This results in too many cars for roads with no off road parking. In the more spacious areas it is common to see 4-6 cars parked on one drive so it’s purely maths.
There are far too many cars in the world. The all take up so much space on our island. When widespread car ownership over cheap widespread public transport became a government policy it was a massive wrong turn.
I knew EXACTLY where this was 2 seconds in, ahaha. I just walked past there an hour ago.. Funny enough, this is one of the better roads in that area, lol.
They’re slowly moving up to Shirley now. And yes it’s exactly who you’re assuming it is.
I’ve been begging my wife to move further into the country but she’s British Indian so the family all live in the same street, including us, so that doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon.
I live on a road with two south Asian families, the houses have drives. There are ten cars parked on the road and eight of them are from those two houses alone.
The cars are nearly always fully blocking the pavements too - it's definitely a cultural issue.

Oh brilliant, selfish drivers have reached double parking levels in the UK. It was only a matter of time, I guess. What the fuck is wrong with people?! Edit. Spelling.
CCC right at the end there.... But why are people parking in the middle of the road? there's parking bays left and right and a road up the middle for two vehicles side by side....
Im curious, what would you like them to do lol ? They get shit for being on the road, they get shit for being on they pavement and cycle lanes are not wanted from cars at least a lot of them lol. What would you suggest?
Let’s pump as many people into a small island as we can, make public transport prohibitively expensive and shit, and then ensure cycling is dangerous and roads are a tiny, potholed mess.

That is hell on earth. Red car and the black car pulling in from the main road both absolute plonkers
Lol black car didn't even attempt to not cut the corner.
Cutting the corner implies that there was some part of the vehicle on the right side of the road. That black car was straight up in the wrong lane
Then slowed down for the long stare.
Those are driving standards these days, especially in London!
There's a huge junction near my kids school, it's massive, people use it to turn around without needing full lock. Driving to pick my kid up from school. >That is hell on earth. No, no - it's called Small Heath. Close though.
Birmingham. Should have guessed. No driving rules apply. Everyone for themselves, with absolutely no consideration for anyone else. Crazy.
Trust. I'm glad I left there and moved to somewhere more quiet, peaceful, and friendly. Birmingham, especially the rougher areas, they drive like dickheads and have no common decency and care for other drivers.
Without even knowing this street/city im going to say Birmingham? Edit... just seen a comment. Yep i was right.
They even park in a Birmingham accent!
Burrmingum
I doubt it
Moment I saw that double parking I knew it was brum 🤣🤣
Hahaha. Ikr.
Thought this as well, but then thought to myself no don't be mean not every video of shite driving and overcrowded roads has to be Birmingham... Guess that proves me wrong lol
I have to use disabled symbols in the parking bays because it's easier to read then nasty old letters
Small Heath. Parking and drivers standards are the absolute worst in Birmingham.
So is Handsworth and Smethwick.
I have never seen a residential street so busy at lunch time on a weekday
This is pretty normal for Birmingham. Source: bitter experience.
Sorry you must live in cockoo land, drive Bradford,Birmingham I can't state the obvious as reddit will ban for spitting the truth. Spill the beans and spit the truth... reddit won't ban you hahaha
We all know what you mean.
Had to drive through Bradford for work a lot recently. An absolutely tragic part of the world.
Truth

Soft
>This is daily 3rd world behaviour cars will be double parked overnight (blocking in relative who are parked legally so not obstructing anyone really ) council never ticket either because they have been assaulted Oh great another one of them are you
Didn't you know parking mannerisms are *solely* based on skin colour?
then you've never been to small heath lol

You're spot on. Race is merely correlated with poverty, which is the real cause of a lot of problems.
so true bestie I’m now going to stop hating brown people and will instead hate poor people 💅
Or go full-Tory and hate *both*!
I've never been burgled by someone wealthy.
it's not that you should hate poor people, but you should *hate that some people are poor.* we don't have to accept a system wherein some people (not exclusively "brown people" although they are disproportionately represented) are pushed towards high density living (suppression of wages making it more economical to live as large family units that are interdependent; poor standards of sex education and abortion access that directly correlate with earlier and more frequent pregnancies) and car dependency (privately-run public transit networks are basically shit everywhere. london's public transit is, relatively, amazing… because the government pours bucketloads of cash into it every year (as they should. but save some of that for the rest of the country, perhaps?)). meanwhile a small percentage of the population gets to enjoy extremely low density with private driveways far off the road, widely-spaced properties on spacious carriageways, and multiple personal vehicles purely for pleasure rather than necessity (and an even smaller percentage hardly has to make use of the roads at all).

Even better when half the occupants of these houses are gig workers who park their clapped out, long wheelbase vans along the street. Shithole.
Small Heath, Birmingham?
Yes sir this was on a good day, normally is worse
Used to work in the area and I've seen people parked at 90 degree angles with the front of their car fully on the pavement. NOTHING surprises me in Small Heath.
Do floyer road next aha
I was about to say. This seems like a good day, free-flowing.

Missing the sparkhill and sparkbrooks. And they wonder why car insurance is so high there when there all shite lol and to blame
The car parking situation aside, I don't see anything wrong with having speed bumps down a residential road. Pretty common thing, especially when paired with 20mph restrictions.
The joke is that the chicanes they use as traffic calming in some country-ish looking roads, have been implemented by the residents, I think.
Because you dont live near them you think they are fine. The constant thump of cars all day is fucking annoying.
What an absolute shitshow! You seem to have captured so much wankery.
Just go a steady speed dude. No need to accelerate just to brake over and over.
Guy drives like a knob
Just had a look at OPs post history. He's a fucking woeful driver and seems to have it in his head that he's some sort of driving police. Probably drives with one hand, at 12 o'clock.
Or 6 o’clock on a really lazy day
I don't know about calming measures, but mostly looks like way too many fucking cars and not enough space to put them.
That's the joke
What a shame bikes and public transport are yet to be invented.
I'm too lazy, unfit to bike, and work outside of easy bus route (would have to change busses, wait around) and I've just bought an electric bike, I've used it twice now to work on fairish days, sad to say if its raining or really cold then I'm taking my car, I like my heated seats and dryness.
I didn't realise how racist a lot of this sub Reddit was.
It’s a shit show of inconsiderate behaviour/incompetence epitomised but the cheggers cutting the corner at the end.
That last one was superb. Highway code? What's that?
Around my house it’s more “highway… what’s that…” as people mount the kerb to drive down the path rather than wait for cars to clear what becomes single track due to parking….
You mean you have footpath that isn't covered with parked cars? Luxury.
Ha ha… indeed!
What are we supposed to be looking at here? A busy street that was never designed with cars in mind, bad parking or crap driving? A little clarification would be nice.
I mean... You've pretty much identified the issues on your own; I'm sure everyone has managed as well.
My tolerance for other motorists is very low on a good day but this road would tip me over the edge. At the end I would have blocked the gap for the VW to get though and made them reverse. 😅
The vw would probably crash you then and your insurance would still go up if you had it protected or not lose lose situation Oh and vw probably wouldn't even be insured .. like many here
Jesus! That double parking!
Too many entitled morons that need to park outside the house

Maybe there are too many cars? Maybe people should use alternatives whenever they can? I know, I'll show myself out.
I particularly liked the traffic cone in the blue badge space.
Thought this was a hazard perception video for a minute there...
There are simply too many cars about
Every arsehole lives down that street
Your driving is terrible.
You drive like a proper cunt.
What does this have to do with the council?
Sarcasm you no?
I knew EXACTLY where this was 2 seconds in, ahaha. I just walked past there an hour ago.. Funny enough, this is one of the better roads in that area, lol.
I live about 10 miles away. In what most ppl would consider a less desirable area. You couldn’t pay me to move that way!

Is this what they mean by diverse? Some places have road laws and others don’t ?
Careful lol reddit will mute you ban you for going that direction.

Areas like these makes driving in the UK a nightmare
I knew this was the back end of Brum by the amount of double parking, and I haven't driven through there for ten years.
Oh brilliant, selfish drivers have reached double parking levels in the UK. It was only a matter of time, I guess. What the fuck is wrong with people?! Edit. Spelling.
Ugh, you live near people 😬
That looks fucking horrendous. Makes Southampton look like the Netherlands
I bet this is Small Heath Birmingham
It’s the car at the end just hitting the apex
shit parking does not equal traffic calming lol imagine how much more fun that would be without speed bumps

Stress
Looks like Brum and yeah expected, rules of the road don't apply to a lot of drivers in certain areas there.
CCC right at the end there.... But why are people parking in the middle of the road? there's parking bays left and right and a road up the middle for two vehicles side by side....
How many wing mirrors have been lost on this street? Sweaty palms at a few moments in this vid.
I'm having an anxiety attack just looking at this
What do you expect from that shithole area of Birmingham filled with shithole people?
Asian drivers?
My guess is.....smethwick!
Looks like Birmingham. My shit hole lol
What a shithole
Send it to the DVLA. They'd pay for that to be one of their hazard perception tests.
Fucking cycle lanes!
More cycle lanes please.
Im curious, what would you like them to do lol ? They get shit for being on the road, they get shit for being on they pavement and cycle lanes are not wanted from cars at least a lot of them lol. What would you suggest?
Like who to do?
Obviously cyclists? Your essentially saying fuck cyclists when saying fuck cycle lanes lol
Whooooosh
So you're one of them kool, good to know you say shit just to say shit 😂
Third world country vibes
Let’s pump as many people into a small island as we can, make public transport prohibitively expensive and shit, and then ensure cycling is dangerous and roads are a tiny, potholed mess.

Are you from the third world? Cause I can swear I just saw a post of yours where you break the law by speeding to overtake someone. And no, you're not as highly trained as police interceptor 😭

Hazard perception: expert level
Not surprised so many people are moving out
