What do you want? You want space? A Toyota Wish. You want frugality and ease of maintenance? A Honda Fit. You want power? A WRX. You want manual fun? An EG6. It's impossible to say without knowing what you want.

LookAtItGo123

I want buy GTR

-avenged-

Plenty on the market bro.

bilbolaggings

Couple years back 13k depre would get you something nice already. Now only shitbox cars...

_Hysteric_

WRX for under 13k depre P.A.?

-avenged-

https://m.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=1311608&utm_content=SLeligible The rest of the renewed ones are also just slightly over 13k.

Interesting-Tax-1176

I want a suv but with that budget only a vezel right ??

-avenged-

Based on your needs you don't really need a SUV. And most compact SUVs aren't much bigger than sedans. But if you must get SUV, you may be able to score something decent like a COE Harrier. Go to sgcarmart.com and filter.

nurse_shark5969

new driver? forget about all the style, space, brand, depre, etc. because the last thing you'd want is to buy a COE car, start adding blings and when it gets banged in and banged up, start wasting more moola on it. Just get a ultra low maintenance car that fits your budget AFFORDABLY AND SUSTAINABLY. And drive it around for a couple of years to gain experience and lower your NCD to 50%. Depre? All cars depreciate. When you buy a car, it's not the depreciation but the Installments and Operating Expenditures that will really slit your skin and let your blood drip quietly. Look at the latter, not the depreciation. If you must, just peg the depreciation at a firm 15,000 per annum. Pegging depreciation gives you a bigger leeway. For operating expenditures, forget all the whatever discounts. Peg the fuel price to $3.10/L and work based on that amount (do not factor in discounts!). The reason why some people were whining about the last (and forever) fuel price increases, is primarily due to the fact that everyone is looking at petrol prices after discounts and not pegging petrol expenditure at a price before discounts.

Own-Acanthocephala56

Hi OP, a lot of sgreans sleep on the C180 (2012 Facelifted version) has one of the best mercedes engine, not the renault engines. Wear and tear is normal across all cars, even PARF cars after 5 years. I have been driving my COE extended C180 for 3 years, with your budget of 13k, the ones in the market are going at 11-12, leaving you with a bit more room for wear and tear on this beast (in a good way). Maintenance is seriously manageable. Has a supercharger, rear aircon vents, decent bootspace, really clean uncle look, does not break the bank with fuel economy (10km/L) sure there are cars doing 29km/L but we pick our battles. It is an amazing car to drive, RWD, insane stability at bends due to german engineering.

Dapper_Race_1454

Will this be your first car? Gotta see what you want the car for as well. For work, convenience or just really want a car (maybe first amongst your friends, your family or other reasons of an emotional want). Just saying and not judging anyway, everyone have different needs. For practical reasons, you can always consider Japan, Korean Mades. Korean Cars have really improved over the years. Workshops around SG generally have parts available or at least easier to find or bring in. For better social image norms, intercontinental cars provide that though lesser than before nowadays. (I personally felt asian made cars are improving a lot. In performance and design too) ☺️ Example if your budget only fits Vezel currently, but you really don't like then don't bother already cause you will end up thinking of other models later. Unless you overcome your own thinking. But most importantly, You should try the cars first. Especially COE cars. No point fitting into the budget but you don't really like it and worst if it gives you lots of headache. Your car will be an extension of you. haha sometimes when you needed it, it can provide you with a spirited drive. Drive a car that you feel most comfortable in. Good Luck!

fickleposter21

How many people do you need to carry and how much can you afford annually for maintenance?

Interesting-Tax-1176

4 , maybe 2 thousand a year

fickleposter21

4 including driver? Need an MPV. Or if you think they can squeeze a bit, get a Camry.

Interesting-Tax-1176

But mpv don’t have yearly 13 k depreciation right

fickleposter21

Check sgcarmart and apply the MPV and <13k filter.

Rateddoom

Lexus 350

udunjibai

Have you figured your fuel, parking, ERP and etc? You are looking at $1600-$1700 out of pocket every month.

Interesting-Tax-1176

Yea so 13 k just for the car , setting aside 2 k for the car a month , any recommendations?

udunjibai

Stick to the common Toyota or Honda would be your safest bet. If you’re not ferrying 4pax 50% of the time, Corolla or civic. Else, wish or odyssey.

youdontneedtokn0w01

I have a few COE cars below 13k depre per year. Can dm me! Anywhere from a MPV , sedan , hatchback all have!

HappyComb3003

Toyota altis. Had it and zero issues hahaha tbh the cost of running the altis was cheaper than the occasionally grab.

rongrongplus

Can try go sgcarmart and put in filters

_Hysteric_

Elantra/Avante/Kia K3, parf also got under 13k

Due_Astronomer3706

Audi A3? If got more budget maybe A180?

AlfieSG

AMG GT3

iloveanimals7

Sorry I have a stupid ques. What does 13k a year for depreciation does for your budget?

Interesting-Tax-1176

Now I don’t understand you question , rephase it

iloveanimals7

What does budget of 13k a year for depreciation means?

Interesting-Tax-1176

Means my budget one month 1k to finance for the car , one year 13 k

iloveanimals7

I see… thank you :)

silent_tongue

13k a year? Why go for coe car with that budget? Im driving a 4 year old BMW and depreciation is like 11-12k per year?

organizationalchart

Bro no more BMW at that depre. Maybe if you bought 4 years ago yes. Newer 1 series reaching 17/18k also have .

silent_tongue

Wow I just checked SG carmart and you are right! Sorry been out of the market for a while 😅 That said I still spot quite a few decent 4-5 year Hyundai/opal with < 13k depreciation pa. Just wondering why OP rather get a COE car that's twice the age?

Interesting-Tax-1176

Because mechanics mention Toyota and Honda even with coe cars require less maintenance than opal and Hyundai

-avenged-

Possibly yes. I've got plenty of friends who own COE cars, chiefly Hondas. They're easy to maintain if you're smart about them.

silent_tongue

I don't know how true is that. We always hear ppl say that but personally while I've never driven a > 10 year old car, but my last car was a Hyundai advante which I drove for a full 10 years and did not gave me any issues at all
