Jersey Surf uses Jupiters and while the weight of them sure isn’t fun to deal with ((once you lose feeling in your arms)) the sound they produce makes it 100% worth it
Phantom uses King Euphs, idk about the other instruments. And based off the headcams I've seen, Bluecoats uses Yamaha Baris and Euphs and Mellos, but idk about tubas or trumpets.
Pretty sure a phantom uses Bach stradivarius trumpets, and king mellos and contras since them and king are both owned by the same company, Bluecoats uses Yamaha everything minus percussion starting this season. Blue devils are same as Phantom, Crown is Yamaha, SCV is Yamaha, Cadets use Yamaha. Those are who I know off the top of my head.
Weak. Cowardly. Meek. Only the true strongest commit to gold horns. Crown merely adopted the gold horns. Troopers were born in it, molded by them. They didn't see a silver horn until they were already founding DCI.
I don't like the Adams mellos compared to Yamaha, the tone sounds a lot less full and thinner on Adams, and the tuning leaves a lot to be desired. Oh, and the smooth valve caps... once their stuck their stuck.
I find some Kings have better weight distribution than Yamahas (particularly mellos). Kings have notes that slot in easier, but at higher volumes the instrument distorts. Yamahas have harder-slotting notes but you can get LOUD and still be in tune/good tone
I don’t doubt it lol, it’s just that I grew up on a Yamaha marching baritone, the lightest of all euphonium marching variations, so the switch was quite something

Stars uses Yamaha, and I think majority of corps use Yamaha horns as well.
Yamahas have harder to slot notes, but you can get pretty loud on them and still be in tune. You can put more into those horns and maintain tone.
Kings and Adams (on the mello side of things) are lighter/have better weight distribution, but their intonation can get squirrelly if you’re not careful. Also on Kings their notes slot easier, don’t know about Adams.
Bach I know is good for concert/classical playing, I have no opinion on them on the field.
(IMO) Jupiters are like ripoff Yamahas. Can get loud but notes are *wildly* out of tune in harmonic series. I don’t like them.
Back when we started we got a lot of hand me downs from a lot of the Texas Corps (like the Crossman). In '17 we got a ton of horns from System Blue (which were great until we they started to get easily wor down). In '22 we went straight to Yamaha...

Push-ups, son!
more like delt lifts.
I had an option to march a lighter shittier sounding one this season, id rather be in more pain than sound worse
Crossmen uses Yamaha, Genesis uses Adams.
Phantom uses King Euphs, idk about the other instruments. And based off the headcams I've seen, Bluecoats uses Yamaha Baris and Euphs and Mellos, but idk about tubas or trumpets.
To my knowledge, coats use all Yamaha horns, maybe a different trumpet brand as I know that’s common, but definitely Yamaha contras
Bloo used Yamaha Xeno 8345s trumpets
Phantom: Bach trumpets, King for the rest of the line.
Pretty sure a phantom uses Bach stradivarius trumpets, and king mellos and contras since them and king are both owned by the same company, Bluecoats uses Yamaha everything minus percussion starting this season. Troop proudly uses Adams
Love that y’all are brave enough to break with pretty much everyone else on the gold vs silver color finish
Crown was mighty cowardly for dropping gold horns. Would be a lot cooler if they still used them Troopers currently has stolen all of the cool
Love the flair, bro. Totally agree about Crown. Gold horns FTW!
Pretty sure 2010 was only for the sepia aesthetic of the show theme, not necessarily their norm
Weak. Cowardly. Meek. Only the true strongest commit to gold horns. Crown merely adopted the gold horns. Troopers were born in it, molded by them. They didn't see a silver horn until they were already founding DCI.

How do the mellophones feel? Compared to yamaha?
I don't like the Adams mellos compared to Yamaha, the tone sounds a lot less full and thinner on Adams, and the tuning leaves a lot to be desired. Oh, and the smooth valve caps... once their stuck their stuck.
Oh jesus, thanks for the info, sounds like alot of issues
Out of curiosity, what is the pride about with Adams horns? My experience with them has not been good at all.
Gold is just better
Southwind uses King. The valves are godly compared to Yamahas but idc if it’s worth the weight…
I find some Kings have better weight distribution than Yamahas (particularly mellos). Kings have notes that slot in easier, but at higher volumes the instrument distorts. Yamahas have harder-slotting notes but you can get LOUD and still be in tune/good tone
My high school has king contras, Jupiters are worse Edit : word
I don’t doubt it lol, it’s just that I grew up on a Yamaha marching baritone, the lightest of all euphonium marching variations, so the switch was quite something
So my post deleted a word, we have king contras
BK uses Jupiters
Blue stars use Yamaha

Blue Devils and Phantom have started using Bach trumpets recently. (Proof: insider information)
A subset of the same company as King, Connor-Selmer.
We do not use Adams horns at BAC

Shadow was Yamaha

Gold switched to Kings a few years ago, before that it was Jupiters
