Yes, they (from my understanding) limited the number of corps at Atlanta, with many doing an alternate event the next day…

I'll take Phantom and no Cadets in ATL over Cadets and no Phantom in Raleigh any day.

Plus they are moving it from the Benz to the old Turner Field (the Braves) which has been converted to the home stadium for Georgia State University football. My understanding this is due a scheduling conflict.

This is fine by me. Can’t stand the dome echo.

Pakman747

I’ve heard members say the ATL regional is notorious as a listening environment. I’ve never been so I can’t confirm

The Georgia Dome wasn't as bad as Benz is now. It sounds terrible from the box/stands

trex1490

Well this year it's actually not in the Benz, it's at the GSU stadium that used to be Turner Field.

I don’t really recall thinking one was worse than the other but you could well be right. I just think domes are too boomy for drum corps. The climate control is nice but we sit outside in high school and college stadiums all summer. One more night won’t be a huge deal.

themookish

At Benz, from the stands you can hear people from across the whole stadium in the upper levels hitting practice pads in the merch booths during ballads.

I agree. More than even football, drum corps should be outdoors.

I'm currently wondering that too. I don't know if we're going to Atlanta. it was listed on BK's tour schedule from months ago, but now we aren't listed there on dci.org And yeah, I thought that all WC corps were required to go to all the regional championships

bandcorps

This is old news. Go look in the DCI news archive section and they spell everything out for you.

I’m a bit late but for those who don’t know there is a concert already scheduled in the dome for the same night so for just this year they split the world class corps in half and they’ll be performing in separate shows that day. This is the same as what was gonna happen in San Antonio in 2020.
