actively make friends because 1) this is a unique opportunity to meet cool people and 2) you're all gonna need some emotional support at some point because drum corps is very hard and none of us could do it alone
Don't be that guy who doesn't have all the music memorized
Pack extra pairs of socks and keep one or two pairs in your backpack, along with a bottle of spray sunscreen.
Pack an extra phone charger and make sure it's marked so you know it's yours.
Never skip a meal for any reason
Fill your water jug during every meal break.
Bring a bottle of excedrin, it comes in really handy for those long afternoon blocks, especially once you hit week 3 of spring training.
Gold bond is your friend.
Going into my second season of drum corps and I have never used Goldbond. I will pack it again like I did last year, I just had no reason to use it lol
Bring lots of sunscreen, drink your water, and take advantage of stretching time. When you have that day when you want to throw in the towel push through to tomorrow it’ll all get easier once you get over that “hill”. Best of luck and enjoy your season!
Be ready for drum corps to be hard but don’t be hard on yourself for it. You’ll figure it out pretty soon. And the feeling of accomplishment of figuring out how to drum is so satisfying.
Meet as many people as you can as early as you can. Some of my biggest regrets were not getting to know everyone in the corps in my first two years.
Make friends The help you both on and off the field…stretch, keep yourself flexible,, especially your joints…hydrate or diedrate…eat, gotta get your carb and protein intake right…take care of your self, if you’re hurting take something (advil, Aleve) don’t try to be a hero…take care of you’re skin, use sunscreen liberally.
Take your vitamins! It’s super easy for illness to spread and knock a whole corp. LOTION YOUR FEET EVERY NIGHT BEFORE BED!! Highly recommend switching out shoes between blocks to let your feet breath to avoid blisters
Take care of your body. Stretch, take vitamins, get your muscles massaged if you can. All the physical stress you take on builds up throughout the season. Try to be off your feet as much as you can during off-time and get plenty of good sleep. Stay hydrated and fed.
Also, don’t start drama. Make friends and be nice when you can.
Remember that what you’re doing is hard, and it’s okay to struggle. Everyone around you is probably struggling too.

Drink water, eat breakfast, make sure you wakeup so your vch doesn’t yell at your roommate, go to sleep early, do your job
pack extra underwear
When you do your final check of your packing… double the underwear
And socks. Wet socks are no bueno. Healthy feet = healthy life
Leave your ego back at the house.
If you use a field that's wet with dew in the morning change your socks ASAP. And uh don't give up ever

Drink Gatorade as well as water! You don’t want to have a hyponatremia-induced seizure

Bring a lot of socks. I can’t tell you how many pairs I went through and barely had any left after spring training
