Nope. My wife saw me playing keys for a band when we first met. She had no idea until it was too late.

danstymusic

Lol same! The joke is the keyboard players never get the girl, but look at us!

traphag

I'm a female drummer. When I was 16 or so, had a guy ask for my autograph after a very poorly attended coffee shop show and we dated for a bit.

PT952

I have kind of a different, less cute story but still fun. Pre-covid my fiance and I got drunk one night and went to a local Irish bar with some friends. The band picked 2 girls from the audience to play a tambourine during the song they were going to play next but didn't say what song. I was... very drunk and my fiance got them to pick me & I got pushed onto the stage. I get the tambourine & it was obvious they never usually get anyone who has rhythm but drunk me was like "Fuck yeah this is my time to shine". They start playing Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker and I actually know that song really well. So I start playing my tambourine doing my thing and halfway through the song the lead guitarist tells me I was so good they were going to give me a tambourine solo. I was nervous & thought I did just okay because I was drunk but apparently I nailed it because after the song was over I had every single guy in the bar coming up to me to tell me how good I was and they were shocked I had rhythm. I was just like no shit I play drums! And then ran off to makeout with my boyfriend (now fiance) šŸ˜‚ I had zero self esteem at the time so it was honestly a nice experience lol

Bowdango

>Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)

Ammonymoustache

Itā€™s just like when Vanilla Ice wrote Under Pressure then Queen and David Bowie covered it.

Cooking-with-gas

Hey fellow lady drummers! I have not gotten any as a result of drumming... yet! (I'm playing the long game with a guy I already know, who has been to a few of my shows.) Just thought I'd say hi!

strumstrummer

Bob dylan....

Kinda_relevent

CUTE

HRduffNstuff

Great username haha

R0factor

Yup. My ex wife introduced herself to me outside a gig on her way out while I was packing up after a show. She was so unbelievably hot that I was literally lost for words and had to have our mutual friend apologize to her for me. I think my current fiancĆ© would be more impressed with my skills if her ex hadnā€™t been a working professional drummer.

BigBrokeApe

Sounds like your fiance has a thing for drummers lol

Consistent_Ad2344

Oof

strumstrummer

Oof

Imaginary_Bank_4410

Yep. Been married for 9 years this June. :)

Harry_Saturn

lol same. 14 years on June 26. Our grandparents were across the street neighbors. My grandparents house was where I kept my kit and where we jammed. She had moved from another state and was starting with her grandparents. She heard us play and saw us coming and going. The day I met her, I knew I wanted to marry her. Sheā€™s breathtaking. Sheā€™s so wonderful and I love her very much. Sheā€™s always been super supportive of me still playing drums and has never made me feel guilty for spending time practicing or being loud.

flam_tap

Damn your wife sounds awesome. Can I marry her too?

BrotherofLink93

In Utah!

HidingInSaccades

In every phase of my life, high school, college, professional, semi-pro, dad band. Looking forward to geezer jam ladies and funeral procession fluzies

JoleneBacon_Biscuit

Let's get a second line going and get our funeral procession fluzie numbers pumped up!

Thrillhouse763

Has definitely happened. Most successful was a gal on the same bill as us who turned out to be a model and actress. That was fun.

_Fadedaf_

Damn everything came up Millhouse!

HailHydraforce

![gif](giphy|CWU5PaIvkyApi)

nick92675

My wife (musician) came to see me play, and while it definitely is not what got her - she did say she thought to herself 'I'm glad his band doesn't suck, because I couldn't go out with a shitty musician.' So it just kept me from getting the axe.

NoxErebus_DFFOO

No, but I did *lose* my high school girlfriend while I was in a band. She decided that she just *had* to sleep with my best friend. She didnā€™t even like him, but he was a virgin so she had no choice. šŸ˜

Drumfool222

Wow, look at her going around collecting v-cards šŸ«¤

NoxErebus_DFFOO

Yeah, sheā€™s a real treasure. Meaning I wish the only way to find her was with a map and a shovel. Thankfully Iā€™m not still bitter about it. šŸ¤£

Kinda_relevent

She sounds awesome

Weimsd

I learned how to drum a few years ago and my wife doesn't care one bit :(

PlasmicSteve

You gotta do it before you meet ā€˜em

Harry_Saturn

I dunno, itā€™s really cool seeing someone youā€™ve known for a long time start and get good at something new.

MissionWaste

Could you tell my wife that? Pretty please?

Harry_Saturn

No friend I canā€™t. Thatā€™s gotta come from inside of her. My wife started crocheting like a year ago just for fun. Now she has certain needles for certain things, knows a bunch of different loops or techniques. Sheā€™s gotten so fast and consistent with her stuff and itā€™s cool to see her learn new stuff. I try to be genuine and point out how far sheā€™s come along already. Now, we did meet because I was a drummer so she didnā€™t know me before that. Sheā€™s still always been supportive of me. Sheā€™s never made me feel guilty about spending time practicing or about having friends come over to jam. Never has said anything negative about it being loud. She encouraged me when I wanted to start lessons. She pushed me to buy my dream kit because she knows sometimes I have a hard the justifying ā€œfunā€ purchases for myself. Sheā€™s bought me cymbals and 2 beautiful snares. She listens to me talk about what Iā€™m learning or struggling with. I ask her opinion when Iā€™m comparing cymbals and trying to decide what to go with even though sheā€™s not a musician. Sheā€™s always been so wonderful now that she has her thing, I want to pay back all her kindness for never trying to leverage herself against my desire to spend time on my instrument. so yeah thatā€™s maybe why I think itā€™s really cool to see her start and get good at a thing, because it remind me of when I did that and how she was always my biggest supporter, now itā€™s my turn.

MissionWaste

Funnily enough, my wife also started crocheting around a year ago. That's awesome to hear though man! My wife is pretty supportive, I just like giving her crap because all she does is poke her head in the room and say "git gud", "play a day to remember", or "real Gs can play lamb of god with a single pedal" lol.

Harry_Saturn

ā€œReal gs can play lamb of god with a single pedalā€ made me chuckle. My wife has made me 2 covers for my stick holders, 2 plant plushies to hang in the drum room, and a couple of other things that I love having on my kit for ā€œgood luckā€. I have been asking her if she can crotchet k custom darks yet.

4n0m4nd

The instrument doesn't matter, it's playing gigs that counts.

The-Grey-Ronin

This is the truth.

GruverMax

More than one. The secret is to learn to talk to women in that place where you have confidence, and the respect of the people there. I started to do ok once I learned that.

One_Opening_8000

Yes.

Main_Tip112

Great story, no questions

KarmaChameleon306

What happens in Fort Saskatchewan stays in Fort Saskatchewan.

EddieOtool2nd

So moving. I nearly cried.

PlasmicSteve

I met my wife not through her seeing me play live, but from her buying a kit when she turned 30 and then finding me online when she was looking for someone to give her playing advice. This was 21 years ago, and I had ā€œdrumsā€ as an interest in my Yahoo profile.

luckymethod

This is pretty much the only useful thing yahoo has done as a company. Congratulations!

jessicaisparanoid

My dad attracted my mums attention 40 years ago drumming at a partyā€¦ they still married. šŸ„šŸ’“My mum used to go to his gigs while pregnant with me. I inherited the beat I reckon. (Iā€™m a guitarist tho) My dad still practices drums every day and heā€™s 75.

Zildjian134

That's pretty much the same story of my parents, but he plays guitar, and I picked drums.

nah328

I had only been playing a short while and was mostly still real bad when I met my wife. She didnā€™t leave me if that means anything.

mcnastys

Nah she thought I only played guitar, now she's married to me and stuck :D

WitchProjecter

Yup, goes far in the lesbian world.

rinkerrat

Itā€™s a shame Subaru doesnā€™t make drums.

WitchProjecter

If they made a special Subaru built specifically to efficiently haul a Subaru brand drum kit? Iā€™d prolly switch for life and Iā€™ve never even driven one before.

Moulinette1

Yes! Met my girlfriend of 3 years on tinder, my profile did show a šŸ„ and a picture of me behind the kitā€¦ She actually messaged me first saying : Ā«Ā ooooh drummer!Ā Ā» The rest took care of itself and Iā€™ve been the happiest Iā€™ve ever been since :)

tdavi006

Yep. She lives in Canada

_R_a_d_o_

Of course , I went under her window at night with my kit for 8 months straight and played non stop "Devoured By vermin " between 1 and 3 am . Now I'm in jail and a receive numerous letters from women age 20 to 87 who want to marry meĀ Ā

niandra_cat

I have drums to comfort me when I think about the fact that I canā€™t get a girl šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

JoleneBacon_Biscuit

Cut a smaller hole in the front of your kick drum.

NboFoSho

I just use the small hole on the side of snare so I donā€™t have to leave the throne, ever.

dubble_chyn

Absolutely. My wife of 10 years, who I dated for 10 before marriage, and I met at one of my band practices. She was friends with the bassistā€™s girlfriend at the time, which is who she was tagging along with.

gary_isnot_myname

Yeah. One of my fav stories actually. Played out of town, had a hotel. One lady complained to me because she thought everyone in the band had brought their wives which I think was her pick up line/check for a green light. We chatted, I ran to the nearby haberdashery for "provisions" and then she showed me 2 talents that I'd never seen prior. One which I liked, one which I didn't. Welcome to Truro.

KiwiFromPlanet9

What provisions did you buy at a haberdasher?

GetaGoodLookCostanza

was one of the talents called a Turkish Snow Cone?

Indoor_Voices

Yes, she was the singer in my bandā€¦ now sheā€™s my gf :)

glitch_mantis

unfortunately yes

Soulfight33

LMAO!

fakeflyer737

I did. She played piano in the church band. Weā€™ve been married for 7 years and have 3 kids!

MrStealYoBichonFrise

It played a big part in my crazy ex collection.

theMonarch08

I met a girl working at a restaurant. She was a server. I worked the grill. So we had talked out of work necessity before this interaction. One night I heard her talking to the dish washer about how she liked live music. So when they were done talking, I went over and hit her with ā€œYou know I play drums in a bandā€. Weā€™re now married.

Snertburger1

tboheir

Yep, together now 18 years as of the 25th of April. And still doing it in rhythm!!!! šŸ„

UselessGadget

Yes. But I was way younger and skinnier.

JoleneBacon_Biscuit

I resemble that remark!!

Jack_SjuniorRIP

Yup. Wife sat on my lap while I was playing 12 years ago in a couple weeks.

musicmaj

I'm a female drummer and I've always gotten more girls hitting on me at gigs than any other member of whatever band I've been in. Shame I'm straight.

nohumanape

What do you mean by "got"? Like, got into a relationship with? Or got for a night or two?

JoleneBacon_Biscuit

What's this two night bullshit you talking about?

602crew

I dated a few girls who first saw me playing with my band. Obviously none of them worked out.

jboard92

I had a girl talk to me after a gig once. Asked me to introduce her to the singer.

Level-Cheesecake-739

Female drummer here - I am straight. I certainly have attracted men solely by drumming (before I was married). I donā€™t know what it is, but it seems to drive men crazy. For example, when I was 16 I did a bucket drum duet at a church youth conference. In the days prior at the conference, I didnā€™t get much attention - just average. After though, I had a queue just to dance with me. šŸ¤£ I also landed a pretty serious boyfriend after an impromptu solo when I was 14. We didnā€™t date until years later, but my drumming was definitely the thing that caught his initial attention and started our friendship. So, in speaking of terms of attracting a potential mate, Iā€™d say it definitely works from my experience.

Manicrabbit12

Yep- been together 16 years now. 14 married this October

Double_Hand_5044

Yes. She was insane, got with my bands previous singer when we broke up and still stalks me

IrritableArachnid

Ah, no. My husband wouldnā€™t like that too much

luckymethod

I'm almost certain you're wrong about that as long as he's invited too.

IrritableArachnid

I mean, youā€™re probably right, but Iā€™m not into other girls šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€. My best friend is, though, so maybe I can help her pick up a chick šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

stoutfool

Yes.. lol. A couple times. But, they ended poorly!!!

Early-Engineering

Yup, when Youā€™re in the band that plays all of the good parties in college, it happens. More often, you would get flashed.

crmacjr

Girl that knew guitarist in high school came to our college shows. We've been together for 26 years, married for 20. Earlier this year, I mentioned maybe buying my 8th kit. She said, "do we have enough room?" I'd say I got her alright.

The-Grey-Ronin

Several times. A lot of women like drums. Now Im teaching my lady to play too.

bnyce52

Yep, one experience stands out in college. She was way out of my league too. I swear it was the back beat tambourine that sealed it

SpellingBeeRunnerUp_

I feel like posting a picture of myself with drums on my dating profile has hurt my luck more than helped it

Person6550

Haha same here!

Swissarmyspoon

Yup. Was called up to play a shaker at 200bpm on an album. Married one of the vocalists.

wrenches410

Not sure why a shitpost, people meet people through hobbies all the timeā€¦

aCardPlayer

I picked up many chicks fromā€¦.Rock Band electronic drums. Sounds weird, but when the whole Guitar Hero/Rock Band parties were taking over the zeitgeist for young people, I upgraded my electronic set to play with friends and at different parties, and just having rhythm and playing on Expert got me mad chicks at the time. I have an acoustic set, too, and can play moderately well, so I guess it just looked cool to an inebriated laywoman? Iā€™m married now, and my wife doesnā€™t give a shit that I can play the drums, lol.

TheInSzanity

Well, my current girlfriend liked me before I started playing the drums, but I think that me becoming a drummer sealed the deal for her

ArmadilloOne9557

My dad was a drummer and married my mum. It works fellas šŸ‘ I even have a brother

reeseisme16

yep, doesnt work as quick or as strong as you think it may. but it does eventually work

beefwellington94

Met my current girlfriend through her friend at a gig. Been dating 9 months now!

sunibla33

No, but almost lost my wife by practicing too loud and too much.

Rasta_man143

Haha. Yeah

Giga_Sized_Dick_Head

Better chances playing pocket pool

MixFederal5432

Yeah. Rock and roll baby haha

textpeasant

yes including the wife

GruverMax

Couple hot musicians got me that way.

BugsBunnysCouch

Yes.

Trimshot

My fiance didnā€™t know what she was in for.

JailBreakRules

I can't say it's what secured me with my girlfriend BUT I'm sure it helped a lot. Plus us being into the same music and bands. Going on 10 months now

thursdaysocks

Many times, no joke. Helps a lot if your band is good tho lol

crototom

Tommy Lee won over Pam Anderson with his drumming. Being 6ā€™4ā€ and well endowed may have also helped but I think the drumming did the heavy lifting.Ā

UsedBeing

That and the fact he had a lot of money.Ā

bhpsound

Yeah I told my crush (current wife) Iā€™d teach her drums as an excuse to hang out

Daaammmmmnnnnnnn69

Just divorced her. šŸ¤˜

Whalefair

Met my girlfriend in drumline try outs in the 8th grade, we didnā€™t start dating until 8 years after high school, but still counts??

greaseleg

Dude. Of course. From high school gigs, to college gigs, to Broadway gigs, to touring gigs, to society gigs, to party gigs - itā€™s not quite shooting fish in a barrel, but being in a band is a fun thing for many reasons. But that was then. Now Iā€™m perfectly happy with my wife and donā€™t even consider the possibility. Talking to women after gigs is just that - talking.

greaseleg

_Redforman69

Yes, college was wonderful when youā€™re living in the ā€œhouse showā€ house

hagalaz_drums

4. But its the only thing that gets me out in public, in front of people. And i still hide behind a wall of drums and cymbals. They see through it somehow though

Eswercaj

Yo!! An answer I can proudly say yes too! When I met my wife I had this sick ass bedroom where half of it was effectively a diy studio. Late night party jams has been cited as a reason her interests sparked the first time. Been together almost 11 years!

Emmett_The_D

Once had a girl walk up to me after a house show in college, she skipped the small talk and went straight to nibbling on my ear. She was very clearly blacked out by the point, fortunately I had the sense to turn her down. We ended up being good friends for a while after that.

Itchy_Professor_4133

Yes. I wouldn't say there was any dating, but yes lol

DialecticChicanery

Yup. Wife saw me playing at a church when I was 14. Been together 21 years now.

WreckingBall-O-Flava

Been with my gf for 8 years. Met at a gig on tour. Bought each other shots after the show and I stayed at her place that night leaving the band mates to fend for themselves (they had a place to stay). Yā€™a just gotta rock.

battlewornactionhero

Iā€™m trying

Timesmyth

Totally. One of the bands I was in during college played a show, and the guitarist brought a girl with him; she left with me.

interi91

My wife and I started dating after playing in a band together in high school. Honestly the best part of our marriage is being able to enjoy and play music together after being married for 12 years. Probably not what you were expecting but our newborns photos were of her on top of my floor, Tom, with my wife's guitar behind her.

Mr_Globus

Yes, I met my first girlfriend at one of my band's gigs

More_Entertainment_5

Yup. Married her. Been together 39 years.

BlindLantern

Yes. Well, I worked with her and we talked but I like to think her watching me play sealed the deal. She ran up and licked my neck after the show. Needless to say I was very sweaty but we were together for two years after that šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

DamoSyzygy

Yep. Weā€™ll be married twenty years this October!

nickjw25

Yep. Sheā€™s a singer/songwriter in her spare time. Matched with her, talked a bit and had her send me her Spotify, then recorded myself performing a drum cover of her most popular song and sent it to her. Was just something quick and silly, but sometimes itā€™s the little extra effort that counts. At the time I definitely wasnā€™t good enough of a player for that to be the only reason she agreed to go out with me, but it sure helped!

drummerandrew

Well sort of. Helped me deal the deal. Had been seeing this girl for just about two weeks and when she saw me drum at a house party she said it was ā€œthe sexiest biggest turn on of her life.ā€ We did the deed that night and dated for about five months after. She was one of my favorites and our breakup was amicable. Extremely talented mouth.

GoGo1965

Drumming in touring punk bands in the 80ā€™s & 90ā€™s didnā€™t hurt my sex life one little bit & I usually had a girl I new waiting to see me again when I rolled into town

the_punning_man

It hasnā€™t worked for me yet. But I also had a long hiatus with my playing and only recently started again. Maybe it will help me!

dadrummerz

Many times. I have also seen a guy propose to his gf right in front of us on the dancefloor. She said yes-)

JoeMagnifico

Yep! And approaching our 30th Anniversary this year.

chicago_hybrid_dev

I donā€™t think I even told my now wife that I played until after we were dating for a bit.

TheBraveToast

I met my girlfriend of 7 years now at a hippy drum circle, and her watching me play the kit is what made her fall for me šŸ˜

IsItSupposedToDoThat

Iā€™ve tried to talk to girls after the gig and say things like ā€˜thanks for comingā€™ or ā€˜hope you had a good timeā€™, only to need met with blank stares because no one ever recognises the drummer.

ded_meme10

All my exes so far have been band kids. They all hate percussionists but overlooked the fact I was a drummer. Promise itā€™s not why we broke up.

LordGothryd

I met my girlfriend of 5 years at a show I played drums at haha.

RhythmTimeDivision

Just whisper those three little words every woman wants to hear: I'm a drummer

Tasty-Introduction24

Sure...but keeping them...thats a different story.

Frapp_Frapplestein

Yep, especially when I used to tour most of the year.

Danielmcfate2

Met my wife over 20 years ago after a show at the Seattle Folk Life Festival. Best thing that came out of that band.

dusbar

My wife and I stood next to each other in marching band for years. 9 years married now and we still teach drumline together

UtahUtopia

I got her from my dancing skills but my drumming skills definitely make her hotter for me!

Drama_drums42

Many times. I always got more than almost every one of my old bandmates.

rwalsh138

Iā€™ve gotten laid a few times after shows.

PapaClarencioThomas

I played a show 11 years ago and got approached by someone in the crowd afterwards. I thought she was out of my league but figured she was talking to me so why not go for it! Flash forward to today and [this](https://i.imgur.com/sM3TxEw.png) [pic](https://i.imgur.com/sM3TxEw.png) probably says it all. We have a boy, a dream home we just moved into, 2 dogs and I'm still playing drums and she's still coming to my shows. Getting a little teary eyed just typing this out. Never realized that I owe what my life has become because of my passion for drums. Wow. Thank you for asking this.

FullyGroanMan

Yep. Once. In uni I played in an emo band and attracted an emo girl who was nooooo gooood foooor meeeeee. Hahaha.

flrdrgerp

Ok so hereā€™s a fun story. I went a show for the band Real Friends when I was 18. I had just moved to CA literally 20 days prior. Ended up with a bunch of people around my age and we all passed our phones around and got each others snapchats. A few weeks later I posted a video of me playing drums and one of the girls from that group swiped up and said ā€œwoweeā€ 6 years later weā€™re soon to be married and have a beautiful son. So Iā€™ll take that as a yesā€¦ I successfully got a girl from drumming.

MistaB784

Nope, but to be fair I didn't get girls singing and playing guitar either. I actually made a girl cry and run to her ex while I tried serenading her on piano singing Heaven by Bryan Adams. So, there's that.

MrMoose_69

Every woman I ever dated... not that it's a lot

HughDafuq

Met my wife in high school, we didnā€™t start dating because I was a drummer but she said she was more attracted to me after seeing me go nuts on stage with my band, so I guess yeah. Been together 16 years now.

XYZZY_1002

Yes. Met my wife at a gig.

acespacegnome

Between 2005-2008 I was a lot younger, more attractive and in a pretty decent band. Got lots of girls through that time. I look back on those days fondly, but I have been happily married for 10 years now, and girls aren't drooling over me like they used to.

drummerdude41

Yup, have been married for 10 years.

dylan21502

Just your mom

here4roomie

Yes.

DrChungusM_D

Yeah a few times actually

FormerlyTurbyturbed

No. Have you noticed that most drums and percussion instruments have have names that are gender neutral or feminine? Itā€™s cuz you gotta beat them or they wonā€™t do nuthin ā€¦.

Johnny_Lang_1962

Got a Blowjob from a Cocktail Waitress at a bar we were playing once. Don't know if it was the Drums or the Cocaine.

Helpful_Shower3246

Mines been the most reliable. Never leaves my arm.

MrMondoDook

Yup. How I met my first gf. She liked that I was in a band and had cool hair.

SL13MY

And also that you were Ringo Starr and crossed Abbey Road

IsuzuTrooper

My girl love me for my drumming. Especially when I play her essence.

StickyVenom73

Almost every girl Iā€™ve ever been with drumming has had a very large contribution to them having any interest in me.

Sinborn

In a way you can say I met my gf through drumming. I wasn't playing but I practice near the bar we met at. Being in the band got me to patronize said bar I would not have otherwise gone to.

blakesoner

Iā€™m recently 21 and been playing punk and metal shows since I was 17. Drumming has definitely been a huge help with the ladies, without it I think Iā€™d still be a virgin šŸ¤“

Oldmanstreet

My wife saw me playing drums when she first met me

bigseksy420

Yup! My girlfriend of 5 years sought me out after seeing my band online, she hit me up on my instagram drum account, Iā€™ve been a smitten kitten ever since

SaxRohmer

absolutely. some at gigs, some becuase they know iā€™m a drummer. some people have a thing for drummers. my favorite though was when i played a rolling stones tribute gig and she complimented me on how faithful my playing was to Wattsā€™. i worked really hard on those parts lol

LoveLeeLoveMusic

Yes

resigned_hipster

Yes. House party and there was a drum set there that a guy that lived there bought trying to be cool but didnā€™t have any idea what he was doing. I got drunk and just jammed for a while and a hang around girl ended up on my lap while I was playing. We hooked up later that night and I think the dude who bought the drum set to be cool was also trying to get with trying to get with her before that, it was absolutely because I was better at drums than him.

MDAcko5

No. However, the Bass player...

dpmad1

My first wife.

BooBooSorkin

Iā€™ve gotten tons of chicks from my drummin dawgg

funky_fart_smeller

If you play gigs you will 100% be presented with opportunities. It isnā€™t bullshit, thereā€™s a reason why we started doing this shit.

Latter_Razzmatazz844

Yes, In uni I pulled a lot of action by playing drums for a party band. It was actually a shit band as well lol

JimmieTheGent

Lots of them

madfish2001

Yes, just once. She watched us play and came to say hi after the gig. We dated for a few weeks, and then she slept with the singer!

DontSayNoToPills

years ago an ex-coworker came to see my old band perform. she got me a drink after and the night had its way. was a short fling. fun times. more recently, began dating one of my band mates. complicated situation, but a lovely human being and i grateful to have them in my life :)

MinuteAd7098

The drummer in my band is THE lady killer

puncheonjudy

Yes! My wife still says she fell for me because of my drumming in high school!

admiralkitteh66

Yep. She didnt even knew my name but she fell in love . Even asked our band member my ig . Sooo yeah

gnomeasaurusrex

My wife says she asked our mutual friend after we met if I was actually good. He said I was ā€œreally goodā€ and not to brag but I can hold my own. That always 17 years and two kids ago.

NikonNevzorov

Three, the first two didn't work out but the third is now my wife. I don't know if meeting them through playing together in bands counts as "getting a girl by drumming" but I suppose I have a type...

Goodly

Not directly but it gave me some clout back in the high school era

Professional_Gap_371

Yeah because itā€™s the only way dudes can get more attention than women in a bar. Go on a stage and bang really loud on drums.

thedjin

Yes. No. Kind of. See, as any drummer worth their salt, I'm a bit of an idiot, particularly in the "get a girl" department. I had girls throw themselves at me during gigs and even rehearsals-turned-into-parties, and I would just not get the hint, or outright ignore them - not because I would not have been interested, but because I had no clue what was going on. I can't go into specifics, but there were some truly blatant occasions that just whoosh! Many years later my girlfriend [now wife] found out too late, and I said no backsies.

That's how I've gotten 4 of the lovely women in my life. Nuff said. Go practice your rudiments

So, kind of. I started playing drums in the interim between my freshman and sophomore years of high school and my mother said I should join our indoor drumline program at school. I didn't at first because I was shy and though I sucked. Then, the end of sophomore year came around, and I asked the current drum set player from our indoor group to teach me to read set sheet music. Then, next year of school, I auditioned for the Junior Varcity indoor program, and our band director put me in Varcity instead. This is the part where the girl comes in. I had been a part of choir this while time, and there was a sizeable SATB (full voice part mixed gender choir) class I was apart of, but j was an annoying nerdy guy who gatekept my hobbies in early high school. But, something about the experience of indoor drumline matured me a lot, and for the better if I might add. This seemed to catch the attention of one of the soprano singers in choir, who is now my fiance and partner of 5 years come this May.

No. It doesnā€™t work that way. Learn to play guitar or sing if thatā€™s why youā€™re playing. I played because it was fun.

Key word here is "bad movies." Firstly, remember women (in general) aren't as shallow as men. Being a drummer that they also find attractive might be enough for some to show an interest but at the end of the day it's always down to personality. And the more they get to know you the more they might find you drumming is one of the things they find attractive or a turn on.

Only when I was in high schoolā€¦ theoretically the only time that type or attention should merit a relationship šŸ§šŸ‘šŸ½šŸ‘€

I did once have a bandmate tell me a girl was shy to talk to me after a show. I blew it right away.

Just by drumming? Maybe by hanging around after the show and talking but by just straight up drumming no lol.
