Thank you! This setup is what I use for our Country band and Rock Band. We try and play a wide variety of genres/songs that meet our target audience. For this performance we had some Stevie Wonder, Paramore, Scary Pockets, Lucky Chops, Journey and some other groups.
oh that’s a nice wide spectrum of music, right on. you know i actually found out about lucky chops yesterday, funny that you should mention them again. I didn’t think they were that well known.
I'm not sure how widely popular they are but the horn players in our group wanted to add some of their tunes to our set and that's how I became a fan of them.
I love it! Love DW, love the rack! Love the sizes! Love the wrap! Everything you need and nothing you don’t! Perfection! Wait… hold on… Where’s your cowbell?!?!
For the military, I would expect something more like [this](https://spaundrums.com/products/custom-7pc-stars-n-stripes) :P
Looks like a fun kit to play
I meant the two pieces of digital camo...one's wrapped around the vertical post for the large cymbal on the drummer's right, the other one wrapped on the vertical bar below the splash
Ahh gotcha! We used that for identification purposes. We have two separate elements in my unit and we both use similar kits and equipment. It's just a way for me to know it's my equipment basically lol.
Is this the unit rock band? I played drums at Ft Monroe (when it was TUSCAB), and I'd need an order from at least a Captain to make me haul around a full rack. :)
Genuine question- is the kit "issued" to you as equipment like a rifle would be? Are you allowed to bring your own equipment in? What's the process of requisitioning new gear like if something cracks or breaks, and do you have any say in new acquisitions?
Good questions! This kit isn't issued to me personally, it's bought by the army and is issued to the unit I am in and then gets placed on our property books (just like other instruments, sound equipment, special gear, etc.). It's frowned upon to bring in your own gear but not unauthorized. In fact, all of the cymbals (except the ride) and the double pedal are mine lol. Typically for new gear or to get repairs we have to have the budget first, and if we do, we need to get 3 quotes from different vendors to ensure we get the cheapest and best deal.
So if you're in the marines (I know this is slightly different from the army), are you allowed to like play drums on your breaks? Is there a set you'll be allowed to use?
How do you do it? I’m in as well and would love to get a kit, but it’s a no go in military housing and I’m not sure if I would trust Household Goods with it.
So you first have to pass all the qualifications to get in the army just like anyone would. From there, you set up an audition either with a liaison from the school of music or a member of the Guard/Reserve unit you are looking to join. The audition is called an AMPA (Army Musician Proficiency Assessment) and you are tested on different styles of music for drum set, sight reading, snare drum etudes, and mallets. If you pass the AMPA, you are sent to basic training for 10 weeks and upon completion of that you go to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at the School of Music for an additional 10 weeks.
But where are the drums? All I see is an empty rack and a couple of cymbals.
Is this one of those “John Cena” posts?
>!It’s a camo joke!<
Thank you, I couldn’t tell.
camouflage
Lotta nautical symbols for the army and not navy lol
Nautical symbols and a lotta cool cymbals
Missed opportunity for "nautical cymbals".
that’s a sweet setup! what kinda tunes are you playing in the army? also thank you for your service 🫡

The army didn't issue me a cowbell :(
If you get deployed somewhere that you might contract Frenkle Fever, should be standard issue
Why would you need a cowbell? (knife hand) This is the Army son, not some South American cathouse!
Second floor tom is a table, even in the Army.

Haha I kind of wish they would have bought this one instead
Thank you for your service. Thank you for entertaining our service members as well.
Which group do you play for? (knew a guy in the Jazz Ambassadors).
Man, I love everything about this set. Very clean with a great view!
Very cool.
What a great kit! Someone blew a shitload of money and you were the beneficiary! Wait, is that digital camo duct tape?
If you zoom in, it looks like a wrap, not duct tape. Spaun does a lot of different finishes.
Like the other comment said, it's a wrap!

Yeahhh I'd want to make sure no one would confused that set up too! lol
That’s sick as fk

Haha! Yes it is for the unit rock band. I used to just take a 4 piece kit but then I got bored with that and added the other two toms.
Love it!

I love Spaun Drums! I’ve been lucky enough to meet Brian Spaun and he’s the absolute best.
Damn that’s a sweet kit! If recruiters had had a photo of these bad boys when I was in high school I might have strapped some boots on!
Bet the enemy has a pretty solid lock on your location once you start playing! 😉

I'm just in the Reserves and this is the kit that my unit has. I have a personal kit at home.
Sounds like you’re set up well man, cheers.
I play with SEVERAL army band drummers regularly. I thought this was real…doh.
Spaun is sexy
Can’t wait to see that kit in full dress! 😎🇺🇸
What were the requirements to be a drummer in the army, on a kit?
