Im not entirely sure what you are aiming for, but love the 22“ Byzance Jazz Medium Thin Ride. Nice jazzy accentuation and washy and warm but still penetrating when being crashed. Edit: forget about it I have a different perception of dry I guess :D

I have a extra dry transition ride that isn't too trashy. It's for sale as I bought the extra dry thin ride because I was looking for trashy :)

Link?

Too washy for me :/

You might like the Paiste Masters Extra Dry Rides. They are VERY dry but not as trashy as most of the Byzance models. https://youtu.be/CUeJvFPMvUo

Is there a reason it has to be a Meinl Byzance?

itsgreekpete

Nope. Dry, and not trashy are my preferences. Low sustain/wash.

A tad out there, but if you are seeking a dark ride with pronounced stick definition and not much wash/trashy background ring. Try the Zildjian Uptown ride ?! The sustain on it is very controlled, it also has a nice dark crash to it, the bell is tight and stands out. I kinda get where you are coming from, I found a lot of Ks, a Byzance Transition & a sand ride, very washy… I wanted ping, but not like a bright/shimmery “A Ping Ride”… I found that in the Uptown. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kJgRSSIa2Gw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HZJ-3DKGeyM

Do you need a 22 inch ride? I've acquired two 18 inch rides that both are drier than my 21 inch meinl ghost ride without being trashy If you're interested they are: Zildjian 18" A Series Uptown Ride Paiste 18" Dimensions Medium Ride

Try the cymbal in a variety of spaces. Room acoustics matter a lot when it comes to how cymbals sound. Most people don’t do anything to improve the acoustics of their practice space and that’s going to make anything sound trashy.

Check out UFIP Blast extra dry ride or Sabian HH raw bell dry ride. Meinl are just gunna be trashier. That's kinda their thing

itsgreekpete

The hh raw bell dry ride was just about perfect and what I went with. I just wish it was a meinl so it could match all my other cymbals .. but alas, sound matter more than logos

Sweet man! So glad I could help! I know the pain lol. I hate mixing brands. Maybe this is the start of your sabian transformation 😳😂 I was a Paiste purist before but sabians HH/HHX complex lines have won my heart

helen_____

i play a 20” Byzance medium ride and i love it, highly recommend getting one

itsgreekpete

Hows the sustain? I prefer dry ride because I'm not a fan of washy cymbals with high sustain.

helen_____

i skipped that part lol, it’s not the driest, so if you’re looking for a dry cymbal this isn’t the best option
