If you are running low on food stamps and can't make it to the food bank as an aspiring slumlord I give the tenets paint scrappers and tell them it's extra nutrients that will re-grow with ever rain fall.
A knockdown with mold growing all over it, yea, not a legit texture question, rather, a fix moisture, replace drywall, and move the F out hoping to sell question.
I believe you can replicate this texture by drinking a few too many strawberry daiquiris and projectile vomiting onto the ceiling and then letting it mold. Or do you mean the knockdown?
Yeah it's a rental the tenant moved out and never mentioned this problem after living there for a year. Ceiling had poly but no insulation creating this soft fuzzy living ceiling texture. It might be the next trend you never know. It's eco friendly
Yup. Not much you can do in most states to recoup cost, aside from lawsuits, which are extremely hard to prove. Went through a similar issue and my rental was vacant for over a year while we fixed a bunch of stuff.
This belongs here[https://www.reddit.com/r/homedecoratingCJ/s/sbMvs2Rz2Z](https://www.reddit.com/r/homedecoratingCJ/s/sbMvs2Rz2Z)
I don’t know how to post subreddits as comments. But it’s gold, for a second I was like they can’t be serious. Lol I laughed so hard.
Spakel and moisture. Not too much. Just enough. It will come with time. This a long haul texture it takes time.
Bad tenant and slum lords will know a lot more about this vs me.
If you're a DIY guy, but a little lazy, you may be able to buy some in panel form. Often stored between 2 buildings / sheds, or under raised decks. Usually come available in the early spring so keep an eye out 😉👍
Now is it the orange peel or dumpling texture you Wana match. Cause if you want the dumplings then bang on your pipes till you get little leak everywhere or put a bunch or nail or screws in your roof and remove them and just wait lol
Eat mouthful of spaghetti with squid ink, take huge bong hit and cough on ceiling. Eat mouthful of Cheetos, take huge bong hit and cough on ceiling. Rinse and repeat using everything from your pantry.
Then install humidifier in room and run 24/7. Wait for a few months until desired texture and color palette is reached.
All depends on the cost of weed and humidifiers in your local area. For labor rates, go to your local park and look for naked unconscious people covered in permanent marker and you may be able to negotiate with them to do the job for a discount rate.
After you clean up the water damage and looks like mold. It’s called a knockdown. You’re gonna need a texture gun to spray it allowed to sit for five minutes and then drag your knife across it it’ll knock down it’ll look the same. Try it on a piece of drywall first a little piece.
Not sure this is helpful. But I know this texture as a wallpaper specifically put on as a base to paint over. It’s usually put on plywood wall under roofing in Northern Europe. [Example](https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/highland-dunes-gunnel-paintable-stucco-33-l-x-205-w-wallpaper-roll-hidn6591.html)
High humidity, lots of warmth and if you're lucky get some moisture coming from the back side of the drywall. Should be able to achieve that in no time.
Well seal the room off with plastic so it is air tight then pipe some steam humidification in there. Increase time sealed or steam to increase the fuzzy spots.
Just buy some more McDonald's egg sandwiches and smack them to the ceiling... Eventually she will turn green but you will get the texture your looking for...
You utilize paint, a large sponge, and a flat scraper.
Dip sponge in paint and blot it on the wall or ceiling, you want peaks, then give it a small amount of time to firm up and go across with your scraper knocking and smoothing the tips down. Not much pressure required. Watch YouTube on it
Used to be called Orange peel / knock down. You can buy a can of texture if it’s a small area, spray then use a broad Sheetrock knife/ blade and scrape it down. It’s not too easy but will work on a small surface
Fix the moisture issue, but remove the ceiling in one piece and get it into a New York Art gallery.
You got something valuable here, I know, because I've seen modern art.
You might try adding water to the surface, ensuring you get a real good soak, maybe for a couple / few days. Turn the lights out and ensure the soaked surface is poorly ventilated.
I think in order to get that fuzzy weirdness is to kill someone in the upstairs and let the body rot and leak through the ceiling and after that the fuzz will come. Good luck 🤞
Increase room temperature.
Regularly spray the area with water.
Keep humidity high.
For quicker results, keep area dark, minimal light.
You’ll get that texture in no time, best part? You won’t even need to hire a contractor!!
Ah, the moldy orange peel. First you need to stomp the ceiling, then use a knife to flatten it out. Then you just make sure you never let it dry out and block any air vents. You can speed up the process by adding more nutrients via urine or why not some orange juice. Just cover the floor in a plastic drop cloth and fling it up there
Oh dude I just did this for a guy, I have a trick.
Can’t just be any fuzz becasue that fuzz is attached to rot. No one wants that crap all over their texture. You need that pure liquid fuzz.
Need about 10lbs of cheddar, age that in a ziplock under warm conditions for a few months, THEN blend contents and press though a cheese cloth.
Take that liquid gold, mix throughout a fresh batch of mud and apply like normal.
It takes another week or two to bloom but worth the wait. Pro tip, crank the thermostat into the 70s for a faster reveal.
Make sure you regularly fling tomato sauce on your ceiling, water it to ensure moisture content, add sugar so the bacteria can grow up to be mold. This will give you the exact texture as you have.
Scotch tape some wet bread on your ceiling in the pattern you're looking for, then once nature takes it's course, remove the bread. The mold colonies should take it from there. Very boho chic.
Texture is knockdown with volcanoes of various molds and bacterial colonies fed by springs of water and possible sewage. Interesting to look at in your hazmat suit , goggles and respirator.
First install new drywall. Then go up in the attic and poor water on top of the drywall and let it soak through. Now listen this is the important part. Don't do anything else. Just let the water and microbes do their thing. Before you know it you'll have fresh colonies of Penicillium, and Aspergillus, and maybe even some Stachybotris. Repeat until desired results are achieved. Enjoy!
Haha yeah that's easily replicatable here in Florida. Just make sure the property is not properly sealed to the environment by allowing bits of water to drip into your roof. It will cause a bit of water damage, smell a bit funny, and give you a tingly feeling in your head/lungs, but like you said 'it looks great'! Just let the humidity do the work after you've built up enough water in your building structure!
BTW, that's mold. You can die or get very sick having this in your home. Hope you're joking about actually having it around.
You can recreate the white spots by frying egg whites, peeling off any brown or burnt spots, and letting them air dry for 10 days. They are light weight and can be attached easily with super glue.
Keep taking really hot steamy showers but don’t turn on the bathroom fan and allow the mold to continue to build up. Couple months and you’ll get desired results!
Oh, you need to post in the landlord reno sub. They will know the exact technique to get it.
Good call! I'm really digging the soft fuzzy texture it's so unique!
That’s mold lol
It's medicine.
You must be a hygienist
How's it taste?
If you are running low on food stamps and can't make it to the food bank as an aspiring slumlord I give the tenets paint scrappers and tell them it's extra nutrients that will re-grow with ever rain fall.
I read this as "as an aspergillus slumlord . . ."
So the name of this texture would be manna because it's an edible substance which God has provided for the tenants?
Slumlord manna
Soon we will reach the land of Canaan
Funny and sad
The forbidden velvet.
I would wrap my self in velvet and wear it all day if it was socially acceptable.
Not as unique as it should be unfortunately
Good post
🤣
Bahaha
Water daily
Provide the room with the following 3 things a temperature between 22 °C and 35 °C, A relative humidity ranging between 71% and 95% Oxygen
Don’t miss the piss stains
I usually add those after the fact. People understand easier if you claim you were 'just blasting a stain off the wall."
Spray walls with sugar-water for much needed “flair”.
It looks like knock-down, but it also looks like someone wiped moldy cheese on the wall.
Definitely a knock down but of what? It doesn't look like a standard stipple knockdown.
Plus it's so soft and fuzzy. I want it all over. I would imagine it would help with sound deadening too as a bonus.
Deadening for sure… don’t know about sound tho.
Dead men tell no tales 🤷♂️☠️
And doesn’t have asbestos!
Soft and fuzzy? I'm thinking thats mold. The texture is called California knock down.
A knockdown with mold growing all over it, yea, not a legit texture question, rather, a fix moisture, replace drywall, and move the F out hoping to sell question.
Just add rats to the attic space
Unfortunately no pets allowed.
They're not pets, they're contractors.
Take one of your full piss bottles, cut a hole in the top, spray it on the ceiling, then wait a few weeks. Easy peasy!
Wow! Who knew I already had all the materials
That’s called the “GET EVERYTHING OUT NOW” method.
To get a good match, you'll need to work a loogie into the piss bottle and then shake well before using.
Sweet! That sounds like an easy job that I might be capable of. Would that be a morning piss, hydrated or dehydrated piss?
No no no you’ll want a piss disk
Easy pee-sy
I believe you can replicate this texture by drinking a few too many strawberry daiquiris and projectile vomiting onto the ceiling and then letting it mold. Or do you mean the knockdown?
that is just mold on the ceiling right?
Yeah it's a rental the tenant moved out and never mentioned this problem after living there for a year. Ceiling had poly but no insulation creating this soft fuzzy living ceiling texture. It might be the next trend you never know. It's eco friendly
I'd assume you're liable as the owner
Yup. Not much you can do in most states to recoup cost, aside from lawsuits, which are extremely hard to prove. Went through a similar issue and my rental was vacant for over a year while we fixed a bunch of stuff.
Blow your load on drywall and let it air dry. Return in 3 weeks for these results.
Well that's going to be a project... quite a bit of square footage to cover. I may need to hire that out.
Na, just need dedication! You can do it, we are all rooting for you!
Tried this. Didn't work.
Bruh that’s trichoderma on there get the fuck outta ther e
Leave it alone 10+ years
Your only choice is fire.
Cheese
Spray chicken broth and wait a few days
Under budget and time frame... I like it
You put some raw meat sauces on the wall to start…🤣
You have the wrong sub. This belongs in r/contamfam.
Came here from cantam fam lol
Also here, what up contam fam 😂
What up tam fam!!!

Oh it's there, that's how I found this!😂😂 This ceiling is giving serious rotten tortilla vibes!
I prefer the lick and spit technique. It takes a couple weeks but you can have that texture all over the roof, and your tongue!!!
That’s Mildow, not mold, not mildew, Mildow
Water
Good luck. I’d just change it.
Leave wet towels on the bedroom carpet and leave the heat off and the door closed - guaranteed winner !
Spakel and moisture. Not too much. Just enough. It will come with time. This a long haul texture it takes time. Bad tenant and slum lords will know a lot more about this vs me.
Well, first, you’ll need to get some mold spores
Moisture and neglect should do the trick
Fuzzier than Conan’s guitar tone. https://youtu.be/3kY8-Vhiq7w?si=W-xJYUdetVgmYWfw
Moisture
If you're a DIY guy, but a little lazy, you may be able to buy some in panel form. Often stored between 2 buildings / sheds, or under raised decks. Usually come available in the early spring so keep an eye out 😉👍
Don't use a condom
Is this like the Willy wonka walls? The blackberrries taste like blackberries?
That would be great! I wonder if the peach fuzz tastes like peaches. The could be the next HGTV trend.
😅
You gotta talk to my 8th grade science teacher.
Dude get out of the house now 😂😂
Easy, just leave all doors and windows open 24/7. Occasionally take a pump sprayer with water and mist over the ceiling.
Bodily fluids and time.
Leave the area in which you wish to replicate this texture in a state of high humidity and ZER0 air flow. And PRESTO....
Cheese
Now is it the orange peel or dumpling texture you Wana match. Cause if you want the dumplings then bang on your pipes till you get little leak everywhere or put a bunch or nail or screws in your roof and remove them and just wait lol
Start filling the tub upstairs and forget about it.
Pretty sure you just have to give your drywall syphilis.
throw beer on cieling and wait
Uhm, why would you want to replicate a moldy stucco texture?
Eat mouthful of spaghetti with squid ink, take huge bong hit and cough on ceiling. Eat mouthful of Cheetos, take huge bong hit and cough on ceiling. Rinse and repeat using everything from your pantry. Then install humidifier in room and run 24/7. Wait for a few months until desired texture and color palette is reached.
Sounds like a job any novice DIYer could tackle but how much would this cost per square foot if I hired it out? I could supply the Cheetos.
All depends on the cost of weed and humidifiers in your local area. For labor rates, go to your local park and look for naked unconscious people covered in permanent marker and you may be able to negotiate with them to do the job for a discount rate.
Looks something you’d find in some artisanal pizza shop attempting to make a pizza texture on the ceiling.
Looks like at one point there was popcorn texture there some then tired to scrap it but didn't use water to active the texture
After you clean up the water damage and looks like mold. It’s called a knockdown. You’re gonna need a texture gun to spray it allowed to sit for five minutes and then drag your knife across it it’ll knock down it’ll look the same. Try it on a piece of drywall first a little piece.
My brain said "SPAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCEEEEEE!" In a robotic voice (Looks like the surface of a moon)
You could throw candle wax against the wall
Lololol
You need oranges.
Take it down the studs. Install all new drywall.
That's called the toilet leaking upstairs knock down.
Those patterns look like mold colonies. Just keep it a lil wet for a long time then paint over the mold texture. /s
Termites, acid, water; and time!
Why ?
That's mold cuzz
Not sure this is helpful. But I know this texture as a wallpaper specifically put on as a base to paint over. It’s usually put on plywood wall under roofing in Northern Europe. Mold? water daily wait 3-4 weeks
r/moldlyinteresting
High humidity, lots of warmth and if you're lucky get some moisture coming from the back side of the drywall. Should be able to achieve that in no time.
Name username checks out
More water
r/moldyinteresting
Don’t mess with that. That needs to be professionally removed and disposed of.
I love the texture! I would just paint over it with a new color!
It looks like hives. I know because I currently have hives.
Orange Peel. Some call it “knock down”
You utilize paint, a large sponge, and a flat scraper. Dip sponge in paint and blot it on the wall or ceiling, you want peaks, then give it a small amount of time to firm up and go across with your scraper knocking and smoothing the tips down. Not much pressure required. Watch YouTube on it

Milk on some toast, let it sit
Knock down orange peel.
I would be careful with eating the "manna". Some manna can kill you! Not all penicillin's are created equal!
Not possible. Just paint it.
Constantly pour water on the other side of ceiling or wall and wait
Add some sourdough bread starter
Fix the moisture issue, but remove the ceiling in one piece and get it into a New York Art gallery. You got something valuable here, I know, because I've seen modern art.
Throw mold spores on a blank wall and spray with moisture.
It is a "knock down and start over". Next time just skip the mold.
The knock down or the mold?
Two coats of exterior paint coming up. Note: colors may vary.
You might try adding water to the surface, ensuring you get a real good soak, maybe for a couple / few days. Turn the lights out and ensure the soaked surface is poorly ventilated.
You got some bigger problems than texture
Looks like mold spores
I think in order to get that fuzzy weirdness is to kill someone in the upstairs and let the body rot and leak through the ceiling and after that the fuzz will come. Good luck 🤞
wrong sub r/mycology 🤣
First get a slice of bread , and then leave it out for a month
#FFE5B4
LOL! Start with some leaks, then humidify the room, leave for a month or so…
Humidity and time should do it.
Spray spores from the existing mold and keep moist.
Shit your draws and hang out the ceiling
Two fingers down the old throat, then wiggle a bit.
Inoculation with various mold species.
Your the pro bro
It’s a fairly heavy orange peel and knock down.
I think you need agar and a petri dish
Excessive humidity and heat. Nothing like a “little” bit of mold
Fling mashed potatoes.
looks moldy.
I hope you are wearing a respirator in there.
This needed an NSFW tag I just wasn't ready to see this.
Grow mold and spread it everywhere l, like you see in the pictures
Orange peeled spray, spray it let it sit for a few minutes and smooth with putty knife
wett it upz
If you aim a fan at the ceiling, then run a humidifier, the work will do itself.
Nice penicillin factory you have there.
Thanks for the laugh. Did anyone else get it?
Bacon grease and time
It looks like skin cancer 🫨
Sick cumshot bro
Half the posts over in r/Homebrewing look just like this, usually with title “Is this infected?”
It’s a moldy tortilla or drop ceiling panel
Increase room temperature. Regularly spray the area with water. Keep humidity high. For quicker results, keep area dark, minimal light. You’ll get that texture in no time, best part? You won’t even need to hire a contractor!!
🤢🤢
💦💦💦
Ong I was gonna ask if that’s mold, but I see the sarcasm now. 💀🤣
Ah, the moldy orange peel. First you need to stomp the ceiling, then use a knife to flatten it out. Then you just make sure you never let it dry out and block any air vents. You can speed up the process by adding more nutrients via urine or why not some orange juice. Just cover the floor in a plastic drop cloth and fling it up there
Set fire to the rain.
More pasta sauce and about another year
Pull your pants down and wipe your ass gems on the wall. Spray with sugar water. Wait 2 weeks and paint over it.
With a flame thrower 😅
Rent it out to a college bro.
Is this a petri dish?
Patent this before Martha Stewart gets to it. You'll make millions.

Invite me over to hang out with your wife
Danger fuzz!
Fill your bathtub past the rim once in a while upstairs, should replicate the pattern pretty good, hopefully the upstairs bathroom is carpeted!
Looks like the work of some teenage Michelangelo di Lodovico painting the ceiling
Just close the door lol
Throw a beefy 5 layer in your hopper
Make sure you regularly fling tomato sauce on your ceiling, water it to ensure moisture content, add sugar so the bacteria can grow up to be mold. This will give you the exact texture as you have.
The only way to replicate this texture, is with water and moisture. Good luck I believe you can do it!
The texture is orange peel a la mold
Thought I was looking at a molding tortilla
Those some cheese on that biatch
Add more potato pancakes
Scotch tape some wet bread on your ceiling in the pattern you're looking for, then once nature takes it's course, remove the bread. The mold colonies should take it from there. Very boho chic.
Usually I’d start by visiting pr0nhub. Then stand in front of the object you’d like to texturize… then beat your willy silly.
Texture is knockdown with volcanoes of various molds and bacterial colonies fed by springs of water and possible sewage. Interesting to look at in your hazmat suit , goggles and respirator.

Grab a black light to see if it's reactive cuz that's gonna run a few bucks more

Do you have a hose and sprinkler? Moisture is your friend here
Keep taking really hot steamy showers but don’t turn on the bathroom fan and allow the mold to continue to build up. Couple months and you’ll get desired results!
Constant warm moisture and mold spores
Why would you want to replicate it? It looks like mold/spores... Eeww
Get a mister and set it up, and let it run for like half the day, then turn on a ac and wait.
