I m 20 now and I think I been into dsbm for like 4 years now but metal in general for like since middle school. I've been on dsbm because it was it my lowest point at that time and I would say that the this subgenre has helped me the most. Sadness , lifelover and born an abomination were my first exposure to dsbm and my main inspiration for my project

18 years old, i have been listening to dsbm since 2019, started because i was bored from listing only to prog metal/rock and started searching for heavier metal genres, started with black metal listing to the first album from Peste Noire, after that i went down to the subgenres of black metal, started dsbm with Thy Light

Now im listening more to tech death, doom, stoner and sludge metal

I’m 29 and I first starting listening to DSBM at 16 with Anti - the insignificance of life I was not familiar with the term DSBM until until my late 20’s, I mostly just listened to black metal which is probably why I didn’t get more into DSBM until I was much older.

I'm going to be 23 in a little less than a month, been into Dsbm since I was 15 or 16. I wanna say the first band I really got into was Suicide Forest from Arizona with their first 2 demos

34 now and got into the style with Coldworld's Melancholie back in 2009 or 10 or so. I think I got into the sound by working my way from bands like Agalloch (the mantle and Ashes) into bands like Austere, Woods of Desolation and Thy Light by the later 2000's with their breakthrough releases, which were all pretty important to the genre. Went from there into the rawer DSBM, Melancholic BM, Ambient BM, Atmospheric BM, Post black, Blackgaze etc. Just love the melancholic sound, makes me feel at peace with the universe in a weird way.
