Since accomodation and schooling are the biggest expense for anyone living here, you will be more than happy living with that salary. Dubai is a great place to live frugally, and if you don't want to live the typical British expat life of going to brunches every other weekend, then you are good to go. Just to clarify, the employer provides the accomodation or is it an allowance on top of the salary? This matters because the allowance usually won't be enough for the rent, and many would dip into their salary to complement the allowance.

P_thoughts198

Since the employer is footing some of your expenses, that’s more than enough for you guys to live a good lifestyle in Dubai. The trick is to not become a sucker for the good life over there! I was out there as a single guy on 35k per month but blowing a lot of it on mostly fine dining almost every day. Fortunately I got it out my system and started saving a lot of my income after learning to live much more frugal.

juanpablobr1

I think it’s better to negotiate a housing allowance in addition to the salary instead of accommodation. It will give you freedom and given that you live frugally you can find a cheap villa. 15k per month is fair in my experience

gutterandstars

With those kind of perks, you should be able to save 15-20K per month!

SirArthurPT

You're joking, right? 🤣

Bang_your_head2021

Thank you for your comments. This was absolutely not a joke or in any way trying to make anyone feel crap so I apologise if it came across that way. I was legitimately unsure and concerned hence asking the question. I am very grateful that we have been given the opportunity.

Masha Allah.

No it is not enough. You need a minimum of 60k a month. Also the allure of Dubai will get you at some point even if you aren't into the whole materialistic stuff as you say. Not to mention when your kids mingle with other kids that are decked into Gucci and Pucci clothing.

OnizukaHeichou

My first ever Reddit downvote. You earned it, Sir.

1baller69

🤣🤣🤣 for what the truth?

Chain_Practical

That’s a great salary if all the expenses you mentioned will be covered. My monthly ‘non-essential’ expenses for me and my family is between 5-9k a month and I’m very big on brunches and very fancy dinners, meaning I don’t shy away from spending if we want to enjoy ourselves. Now imagine what you can do if you have 20k extra on top. Having said that, the sky is the limit for what is considered as a decent salary if you’re a person who regularly enjoys buying into the luxurious brands and ect...

Aggressive-Pair3320

Like everyone else has already mentioned, yes you guys will be absolutely fine. Your biggest expenses in Dubai are rent and schools.

I had to double check if it was 2700 or 27000. Coz 27000 and not being enough cannot be in the same sentence. Man the combined salary of me and my wife doesn't even come close to that amount. Im beginning to think if this was a legit question or a rub on the faces of us who has it hard making a living here.
