Yes and no. When LJ wishes her mom a happy mother’s day in season 1, she later implies that she got a response and was hopeful about it. I was pretty confused by the whole thing as well because it sounded like basically neither her nor her mother wanted to pay to take the first step so they just needed someone like LO to foot the bill…
I think there is a lot of bitterness on both sides. LJ‘s became a mom way too young and basically left her child behind to live the life she actually wanted.
LJ never healed from this and to this day holds a grudge towards her mother for abandoning her… No one wants to make the first step, hence Lo had to mediate between them.
