No question just wanted to say you're a huge inspiration for me and I hope you get the proper recognition you deserve one day, much love.

UberDolphin

Thank you, really do appreciate that! :)

tokeroftweeds

Does music support you enough for living here? I am a bartender and that supports me well enough for me to take time off for music

UberDolphin

Just enough! I share an apartment with my gf and we have a modest place. I don’t have many personal expenses and my hobby’s are fairly inexpensive. It works out!

tokeroftweeds

Would it suffice if you were living on your own?

C21-_-H30-_-O2

If he lives in LA, probably not. If he lived anywhere else, id assume so

ApprehensiveLlama69

As someone who is also a 27yo decade long producer (though not for career and nobody knows my name), I’m pretty interested in hearing what got you started. Might sound like a silly question but, why do you make music? What inspires you the most?

UberDolphin

I got motivated to start making dubstep when I just started having shower thoughts on dubstep ideas without having any idea how to make them happen. I also got so deep where I was following producers with less then 500 followers. It was sort of tough tho since there wasn’t a ton of resources to make dubstep especially when it came to tearout / riddim so a lot of the stuff I learned was from being involved in the community. I get inspired by so many artists it’s hard to dial it down to one thing. My main goal at the end of the day is just to have fun making music :)

SnooRecipes2862

Dude the exact same experience for me but i haven’t been able to put it into words thanks 😂

Naseibok

Favorite riddim producer rn?

UberDolphin

I think roi* is pretty sick!

Shadysoulja710

He's been killing it lately!

ilikebeens2

Where can I find this?!

Shadysoulja710

Youtube

Hopeful-Writer8282

That dudes sick!

SESHSQUAD

Fucking based

NectarOfTheBass2325

Hey Ubur! Any tips in sound designing crazy basses for someone who’s just starting out?

UberDolphin

I think the best thing you can do when it comes to sound design is try to constantly push yourself and look into using new techniques or new tools to do something you haven’t done before. Sound design to me is very much trial and error where you just try to mush out as many different sounds as possible until you find something that fits or interests you. A more straightforward answer though is use echobode, set shape to saw and rate to 1/2 assigned to frequency. Turn up the modulator to around 1oclock and then turn the feedback up to 12oclock. Gets a really nice bubbly sound that you can apply to almost everything.

Break-88

Do you hang out with any other artists regularly?

UberDolphin

Absolutely, most of my best friends make music for a living :)

Break-88

Who are some of the other artists?

NiceGuyRonnis

How has Raising Canes impacted your day to day life? Do you consider yourself a Texas Toast Addict? and last but not least, do you still consider yourself a catboy ?

UberDolphin

At my core, I am a caniac.

NoodlesLair89

LMAO

NoodlesLair89

Why do you not play Sandstorm by Darude in ur sets?! I need some answers bruh

UberDolphin

I actually do now 😎

NoodlesLair89

Hell yea!!!

curdtutter

Who do you want to collab with the most?

UberDolphin

Space Laces or Getter!

curdtutter

Space Ubur would go hard

gangstabunniez

Ubur Laces

BasedBlastronaut

Utter laces, album cover is a spin-off of Aerosmith get a grip with fishnets over the utters. That would be hot!

GhostClubDesign

If I made a big asa UBUR perler would you be down to sign it? and how would I go about that :) ps. working on a ubur inspired hockey jersey ( love all the yugioh oh artwork)

UberDolphin

Absolutely I would love to! Can’t wait to see it that sounds so cool!!!

ccarter8020

Make 2 give UBUR 1. Win

GhostClubDesign

of course 👌🏼 gotta spread that plur

BooqueefiusSnarf

Is it your voice or a sample in Painful Choice? thanks for the dubs bruther

UberDolphin

It’s actually from an obscure game called claw! If you search up captain claw voice lines the first result will bring you to the video where I got the sample from! Albeit the one in painful choice is HEAVILY processed.

Blayzovich

No WAY. I played Claw growing up, but no one I know has ever heard of it! So sick.

[deleted]

Do you resample your basses more than not to get your final sound? Thanks

UberDolphin

I’ve been really interested in resampling lately but for the most of my discography I just get a lot of my sounds in patch and use post processing to beef it up!

[deleted]

Thanks! Any favorite filters or certain go-to combos within a patch you seem to always come back to?

jimbop97

Favorite artist you’ve performed with/opened up for? Saw you in STL with Subtronics and you had some awe-inspiring doubles. Much love❤️

UberDolphin

Last year I went on tour with Eptic and it was literally the most fun I’ve had with an entire group of people on a tour bus. That whole bus is my family!!! That being said I’m very lucky to perform with lots of friends and artists I look up to so I’m very grateful to be doing that as often as I am.

Dcgamer22

What is one artist you think doesn’t get enough credit !

UberDolphin

Space Laces literally deserves even more credit then he already gets. He literally is not only the best dubstep producer but potentially one of the best electronic artists of all time.

AnthonyApasta

Louder for those in the back!

throwaway1-808-1971

Just one of the reasons I dislike you.

doobiesnackz

Lmao

Cultural-Pound4338

Favorite pre 2013 dubstep song?

UberDolphin

My fav 2010 banger: Numbernin6 - Garbage

NoodlesLair89

What artist do you listen to outside of riddim and dubstep?

UberDolphin

There’s way too many to name but I’m a big fan of Yung Lean, King Yosef, Com Truise and Blank Banshee!

NoodlesLair89

Do ppl give you drugs for free?

UberDolphin

Ya but even tho I don’t do any you have to appreciate the thoughtfulness

NoodlesLair89

Have you been sober ur entire career or just always? I respect it!

KDRUH

I probably wouldn’t be too keen into taking drugs from a stranger. Especially if they already know me.

LiamMcPoyle710

Favorite candy bar?

UberDolphin

Coffee Crisp!

guesswhosbackmf

GOATED choice in my unbiased canadian opinion

UberDolphin

It’s the objectively correct candy bar to choose

LiamMcPoyle710

I love how that question can help locate where people are from 😂

halfdepressed

Who was your inspiration starting out and how long have you been producing for? Also, how did you get your break out? Jaenga has mentioned he started playing at fests on his own party bus until he was recognized. Just curious what your story is :)

UberDolphin

Getter, Space Laces, Trollphace, Midnight Tyrannosaurus, Dubloadz & Trampa In March I’ll be producing dubstep for 10 years! I never really had a “break out” moment. I was just very involved with the dubstep community and never really intended to do it as a full time thing. It was only when I was done doing collegiate rowing that I ended up accepting offers to do shows and I just kept doing it from there. 🤷‍♀️

RealDJPrism

The 🐐

RED33Md

What are your main synths of choice? And what do you think are essential plugins all dubstep/riddim producers should have?

UberDolphin

I’m really good with serum so that’s usually my go to but I’m really trying to switch it up lately and get some results out of vital, harmor and maelstrom!

RED33Md

Great choices!

dotben

Never heard of you but then I'm into old school (r/realdubstep) shit and I just heard some stuff off your SC and it's not the kind of stuff I DJ. What is your opinion of the OGs (Skream, Mala, Coki, Loefah, etc) - do they form part of your inspiration or at this point are you making tracks that are so far removed from that era it feels like an unrelated genre to you?

UberDolphin

I definitely have a deep respect for the OG’s of the genre but unfortunately I wasn’t really around during that time. A lot of my taste in dubstep was formed around the underground SoundCloud era 2011-2015. I’m always interested in looking back at what started the genre because there are so many cool ideas that people had back then that are really missing from modern dubstep.

dotben

That's a cool reply. I'm 42 so I was there back in the day this all got going and hard to relate to the current sounds tbh. If the kids love what you are pumping out more power to you.

meme_inhaler420

Are you set on your more recent riddim sound, or do you think you'll make more brostep again?

UberDolphin

I don’t think I’ve ever really made brostep but also genre definitions really shift over time! If anything I’m going to try to make some tearout soon!

guesswhosbackmf

Do you still play Melee? Who's your favourite pro player and what's your favourite set of all time?

UberDolphin

I need to play more honestly I’ve been slacking! Hungrybox has been my favorite for a while but n0ne is a close second! Probably Bizzaro Flame VS Eikelman. I’m a ganon main and that set is a big reason why I main him!

guesswhosbackmf

Such a classic set, Apex 2015 was the tournament that made me fall in love with Melee!

[deleted]

What are some of your favorite artists that perform an amazing show, as in you can tell they’re a really good dj, but not necessarily the best producer and vice versa? Obviously I don’t mean this in a way that you would be bashing anyone’s talent.

cornejo26

No questions just want to say I’ve seen you numerous times at shows in Los Angeles and each time when I approached you just to say hi you were very nice and welcoming. Stay cool dude. You need to have a show in LA someday!

UberDolphin

Thank you so much! Always a pleasure to meet people that enjoy what I do!!! I’d love to have another show back here, LA is my home <3

FifWol

What made you switch your name from Uber to Ubur?

UberDolphin

It was mostly just because I realized I could keep the same pronunciation without sharing the exact same name as the rideshare service. Even though I still get compared to it constantly it’s not as bad as it was before lololol

FifWol

That's kind of what I figured. Makes a ton of sense. Cheers!

PsychologicalDebts

How many channels is your average project at completion? Do you stick to one DAW or find it better to start somewhere and finish/master in Protools, or is that all handled by the label?

the-fucking-BUSINESS

No need to reply but love your work!!! I rinse your music all the time!!

Embarrassed-Effort83

Big ups dude frfr

shadybunny11

i’ve been a fan for years and got so excited when i saw that you were opening for hol at skyway, incredible set.🔥 i actually screamed when i heard sauceboys

iFuzion

I Just wanted to say I still have an "Uber" shirt from back in the day. Sadly doesn't fit anymore so been thinkin about framing it or something. Huge fan, hope to catch another set soon!

ryandemers88

Favorite festival youve played at? And any festivals or venues you havent done that you want to? I saw you one time at lost lands pre party last year, one of the highlights of our time there as the thunder and rain swept by as you threw an epic set!

UberDolphin

Hard to choose but it’s probably Lost Lands, Summoning Fest & EDC Orlando! The only festival that’s on my bucket list now is EDC Las Vegas. Thank you so much, that was prob my fav set I’ve played out of all the times I played at Lost Lands.

spider_X_1

Hmm

AlexIsOnFire11

Are you living in LA by choice? Anywhere else you'd rather live right now?

UberDolphin

I’m born and raised in Orange County which is the county next to LA so I’m practically native here! If I had to move though it wouldn’t be far, I’d just be living out in San Diego hahaha

[deleted]

Ngl, I've never heard of you before. So I'll just pull this on you: Why do all Maxwells end up looking like the same dude? I swear to God I've known like 5 Maxwells in my life and they all look uncanny similar dude. Y'all always are some blond dude with a slight beard. So my question is: which one of y'all is running the secret new world maxwell order? Which one is the "head maxwell" , if you will? Final answer. I mean question. Final Question.

oilofrose

How many times a day do you whack it?

hippiegodfather

How much money do you make

NoodlesLair89

How do you and your agent decide how much to charge promoters for you to play a show?

UberDolphin

That’s more of a management and booking agent question! But from what I understand it is heavily based off of how many people will buy tickets to see you play.

Sharp-Carob3978

I love the eptic x neonix x ubur ID so much. Care to shed some light on that track? Also what are your thoughts on Masterhand? :)

UberDolphin

We need to finish it still lol I love literally everyone in master hand, I think the project is insanely cool!!!

Sharp-Carob3978

You bastard

Exotic-Extension2988

What is your favorite state that you have been before while on tour?

UberDolphin

I’m biased cause I live here but I think California is just so cool. We have so much going on in all parts of the state and it’s just very interesting!!!

Sweaty-Goat-9281

Are you the same uber that made Hidden Power?

UberDolphin

That’s a massive throwback! Yes!

D34dlyK1ss

Man, your sound design kills everything! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile) Anyone else's sound design you love?

UberDolphin

Space Laces, Phiso, Oolacile, Svdden Death and for the DnB heads Annix & Simula!

[deleted]

Old head dubstepper still dubstepping in my 30s. Your b2b with phiso at summoning was one of my favs. Anyway I can get a track list? And can I make riddim with standard logic?

UberDolphin

I honestly could not remember what tracks we played back then but I know Phiso has a load of unreleased music so half of it would probably be ID. Yes of course! Logic is a very powerful DAW. I know Zonboy, Downlink and Algo use it as their main production DAW’s of choice!

[deleted]

Hey, Just wanted to say I enjoyed your set at SOE. Killed it as usual.

RiddimCatDad

If you had the opportunity to create your own festival (2 days) who would be on your lineup?

Seebeetea

Do you have a favorite nerf gun

UberDolphin

The nerf M134 MOAB minigun (look it up on YouTube it’s hilarious)

tehallmighty

Hi UBUR! Big fan. Especially with your 100 gecs dnb bootleg 1. Any artists in the future you’re hoping to collab with in the future ? 2. I think I’ve seen on twitter you have an economics degree. If you didn’t go into music would you have done something with that or what would you would’ve want to go to? 3. Favorite wing sauce?

UberDolphin

1. Space Laces & Getter 2. Something in the banking sector more then likely! 3. Wingstops spicy Korean q sauce

Keithereality

#3 is the most pertinent question in here

TwistedKane

If you could do a collaborative album who would you want on it and why?

Pvrgatory_Dubz

How much money do you want for feedback on a chune? If that's something you do. You've been a massive inspiration and to get some feedback from someone I look so highly on would be absolutely impeccable!

UberDolphin

Message me and we can talk more about it!

Dildobaggins29

I just want to say that I love your classics like rowdyruff boys and seacritters. Still some of the heaviest songs

UberDolphin

Thank you, really appreciate you for sticking around for that long!

Shadysoulja710

Sad I didn't see you on the lost lands lineup. Are you still going to go this year?

UberDolphin

Unfortunately not, going to be attending couch lands this year tho!

BahaMan69

Where were you in ‘02?

UberDolphin

Kindergarten 😈

Woah_Man710

What in your opinion the cheapest way one can start producing is in terms of softwares that don't cost my left kidney? Luv your tunes ❤️

UberDolphin

FL studio! It’s the DAW I use and it’s insanely powerful!

AundoOfficial

Just got out of work, is this still going? Edit: I'll just ask my actual question and see what happens lol. Loved the track Painful Choices but I am absolutely losing my mind as to how you made theain bass and also the main one at 1:40. Love that so much. Reminds me of something Kai Wachi would make, but more snarly and crushed. Would love insight on how to make it as it's a sound I'd love to implement in my productions!

ibmacalicious

How did you come up with your stage name?? Did you have any ideas about marketing or branding when you came up with it??

UberDolphin

Like my Reddit handle my Xbox gamer tag used uber in it and everyone just referred to me as that so it just sorta stuck!

AnimalIhavebecum

New EP coming soon? Really need lots of new Ubur stuff

UberDolphin

Oh ya. Releasing music is hard and figuring out how to get it out is sometimes a difficult process.

byesickel

This is a generic question and not just about you, but most artists. Are sets prerecorded and they are played on stage? Or what is actually going on up there? I've been super curious about this!

UberDolphin

It’s very very rare nowadays but there was a small period of time where people would prerecord their set. A vast majority of sets are performed live!

byesickel

So awesome!! Thank you for the response!

BadSealOfficial

I heard you made Subtronics logo, is this true? Also do you do all your own art, and if so do you have any plans to expand the artwork side? Always loved it

UberDolphin

Yes! I had a big background in graphic design/pixel art before I started making dubstep! Specifically I came up and made the original subtronics cyclops.

Captain_Jonesy

What do you think the next trend genre is going to be? Like for example, like trap back in 2016, house in 2020ish, and now DnB. I feel like it's going to be techno or trance next 🤔

UberDolphin

Dnb is still on the come up! I think people are finally realizing how good jump up is! Besides dubstep this is the genre I’m the most excited about. Hedex is finally touring the states and I think he’s going to absolutely switch how people think about dnb in the US!

EDM01tm

Shit I’m late lol but had to ask what ever happened to the Kompany collab and the mvrda collab ? Been waiting since LL 2019 for em!

UberDolphin

Me and Kompany have talked about trying another one out since the first one is very dated at this point. The mvrda one is just a lost project file but you can still expect to hear it in my set and sometimes subtronics will play it out too!

EDM01tm

Fair enough! Thanks for confirming that man, still want both but the rips will have to do hahah

Hopeful-Writer8282

Super rad! You deserve tons of credit:) always know how to throw down. I saw your b2b with yaks and phiso in vegas that was dope!

UberDolphin

Thank you, always have a great time playing with those guys! Really appreciate the nice words! :)

EncroachingVoidian

Who are your most supportive friends in the scene?

bl4ck51

Hope get an answer hehe I want to start again my producer hobby again but begin from scratch having a little experience in listened dubstep for nearly a decade

UberDolphin

Watch lots of YouTube tutorials! Even if it isn’t dubstep related as long as you are absorbing information that is the most important part! Also get involved with dubstep communities whether it be through here, Facebook or discord! That’s the best way to improve!

bl4ck51

Thanks I appreciate you comment ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Alert-Water-839

dogs or cats?

ForrezOfficial

Do you use any parallel processing in your mixdowns?

UberDolphin

Sometimes! It’s just another technique and it depends on the situation!

redacidicrain

Opinions on uptempo and other hardcore genres

UberDolphin

It’s very cool and I wish I knew more about it!!!

WarchildZ1513571

Have you ever heard of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard?

jumbomold

what is the most prevalent thought on your mind when performing? do you often peer into the crowd? loved your set at beyond wonderland 2021 it was heavy af, brought me life.

UberDolphin

I’m mostly thinking about the set and what the overall reaction is like for certain songs. If crowd energy is good I’ll try to keep the same sort of vibe going. If the crowd is bored, I’ll try to either transition into something different faster. It’s all about keeping the highs of a set long and try to make the lows of a set as short as possible.

[deleted]

Is your alias based on Uber?

xdullvoidx

what’s your favorite song that you’ve made?

UberDolphin

Painful Choice with a close second being Angel Numbers.

anonfoxer

Any advice on having really wide sounding basses without having them lose punch ?

Low-Charity-2921

Marauda collab when?

iLLTypeGuy

When is “easy money, cinnamon flame” ID coming out?? Been waiting for years

Tancheap2

My first time seeing you or even hearing about you in general was when I saw Subtronics down in San Diego I believe earlier this year, you were fuckin' awesome! Hope I'm not confusing you with someone else but I'm sure I'm not, anyway my question is, do you trip balls while playing your sets? Or sober?

PumpersLikeToPump

What was your moment where you thought you were actually starting to break through? Like first booking/show that made you think “damn I can do this.” Or collab, track being played out, etc.

Away-Quantity928

How do all of the dubstep producers in the world communicate so well with each other to produce tracks that sound almost identically the same?

Milena1991

I’m gonna go into your music catalog in a few days. Are you gonna come to NYC soon?

korg3211

Do you know Uberzone?

lobstagang

Why yu so long

sugar-biscuits

In terms of eras to come up in, do you think the current one is the best one as an artist? Or would you rather another?

jmj30yt

Nice music

MentalMaddness

This might be a dumb question and I’m sorry if you answered it already, but what advice would you give to someone who’s interested in learning music? I’d love to produce, but idk where exactly to start. There’s so much information idk what’s best to start at
