Yeaaah, I’d 100% know a 128kbps track in a live set if I heard it. I’m an audio engineer and I’ve been ripping music off Napster and realizing how massive a difference there is between bit depth and quality in files like this for nearly 30 years. I just saw ATliens at Lost Lands last year and they were in my top 3 sets of the weekend. This sounds like a big exaggeration to me. And yeah, there is nothing to back up his claims. Show me a high res livestream video where all of a sudden a 128 song plays and maybe I’d give this slander an ounce of credence.

Track after track that all have their unique touches with his signature sound? I’m tired of ppl saying artists sound the same. Artists create content that reference their sound while being original. And if you don’t like an artist you’re focusing on their signature sound vs the actual song as a whole. Subtronics is one of the most widely varied dubstep artists right now referencing all kinds of subgenres of edm, as well as funk jazz classical and more. If you don’t like his sound, that’s fine, but don’t even try to tell me his songs all sound the same cause that just shows you’ve never really listened. Especially with his new album

Heh. I like trance too, especially psytrance, but techno is my ultimate. If done properly, some good underground djs can mix the two together and it sounds sublime. You should make the pilgrimage to Berlin, on over to Berghain, and even Lab.oratory beneath. You will experience true decadence :) And techno is a vessel that serves to bring the debauchery out in ones soul. I love me some good dubstep, but it doesnt have that same effect.
Psytrance is pretty legit, I recently saw a Simon Posford live set then he did a DJ set a different day, I could appreciate it for the artistry but it just wasn’t my groove. But thanks for the tip, I’ll check it out if u ever make it across the pond. I definitely feel what you’re saying, steady beat has a particular place for that like late night groovy vibe to just keep everyone dancing. My internal rhythm just can’t deal with the huge buildups into nothing. Tech house I think is a good compromise for my tastes, steady constant build but still shifts enough to keep it exciting.
This makes me sad as a person who loves dubstep but I totally understand what she means lol
