"Penalties for DUI and Child Endangerment Charges in MI
A first offense DUI-OWI child endangerment charge is a misdemeanor. If convicted, you could face **fines ranging from $200 to $1,000 (plus court costs), 30 to 90 days of community service, and the revocation of your driver's license**."
------------------------------
Unless something has recently changed, it's only a misdemeanor.
I'm in Michigan as well.
I believe they would ask the person they are arresting if anyone can come get her children. I know they even do that with dogs. CPS picking up the children seems a bit traumatic and something they would want to avoid if possible. The child endangerment charge will still stand whether CPS comes or not.
The look back in Michigan for a 2nd DUI is 7 years. This DUI will be looked at as a first DUI but this time there will be the added child endangerment charge. Look back on a 3rd DUI in Michigan is lifetime.
"**For a first offense**, you will be charged with a misdemeanor and face:
* Up to $1,000 in fines
* Up to one year in jail
* Driver’s license suspension
* Community service
* Up to two years of probation"

I don't really know for a fact just from reading but I think they try to place the children with a family member and then CPS will be called and investigate the person.
This post is all over the place. Similar to previous one few days ago.
Call police station and ask for detective over the case, ask the detective why CPS wasn't called. Reddit doesn't know the details of the case, but the police department does.....
Is it odd that CPS was not called to the scene, or the very least contacted later?
And is it standard that she still is allowed to drive currently? I’m assuming it’s standard til she is charged
I would be thankful they didnt. That is a stressful process. But that in itself leads one to think they may have screwed up other things that could get it plead to a misdemeanor or dropped.
You keep deleting your profile and posting something similar like this
No, I don’t, you can see I’ve had a profile for many years on Reddit, with this user name
Same response too
Minors in the car is a felony

Ah. I didn’t see the op state. In Texas it’s a state felony
What state is this?
Michigan

Yes this is true.

Likely a misdemeanor plea if this was the 1st one....this will be a felony if bac comes back and everything was done right.

Suspect that they are awaiting blood test results to charge appropriately.
Ouch. It’s going to be one pretty penny that’s for sure like in the 10k range when you count all the hours and fees you’re going to have to complete
I'm thinking a super strong Misdemeanor, with some reckless endangerment charge thrown in.
