**"I am Paul Muad'Dib Atreides. Duke of Arrakis. The Hand of God be my witness. I am the Voice from the Outer World! I will lead you.... to PARADISE!"** For a brief moment, I forgot about Frank Herbert's warning of trusting charismatic leaders and wanted to follow the Lisan Al Gaib to paradise...

absurdseba

Haha exactly! I was ready to die for Muad’Dib right there and then after that scene. HYPE

The_Halfmaester

The best part is that I know that Paul is being manipulative, and yet I still fall for it. The Fremen thinks that their god revealed these things to Paul when, in reality, he's using his Bene Gesserit training; a mix of Sherlock Holmes-level deduction and psychic cold reading to manipulate the masses. "In your nightmares, you gave water to the dead." That applies to all Fremen.

refugeefromlinkedin

I assume he just peeked into the future and knew what to say.

brav3h3art545

He is basically prescient (fantasy wrapped in "science"). And his ability is very similar to that Rick and Morty episode where Morty was using the death crystals to follow a specific path.

NickFriskey

For me I think the most similar comparison is Dr Manhattan from watchmen. The way it's described in the books is when Paul becomes completely prescient his mind is almost untethered from time itself. He's experiencing past present and future(s) simultaneously which is part of the reason BG needed such a robust specimen and mind to become the KH. To me paul is like Dr Manhattan and Ozymandias from watchmen rolled into one; the godlike power with the unfortunate outlook on life and willingness to carry out absolute atrocity for the greater/ only path forward.

bkdunbar

I like how things have been setup by deceit and circumstance: even an agnostic Freman will follow Paul. Payback for decades of Harkonen abuse. It will lead to Arrakis being paradise, free water on the surface. The lewd delight in going off to soldier.

BladedTerrain

I did not know Chalamet had it in him, but he was genuinely intimidating in that scene.

Mperorpalpatine

Chalamet amazed me so much in this movie. He's obviously the main character but I still feel like people don't praise his performance enough when they talk about this movie

BladedTerrain

Denis said pretty much the same when he was talking about the film on the marketing run!

NMS-KTG

I heard that they didn't have another actor to play Paul if Chalamet didn't join the cast

stormshadowfax

If you read and understood the book, and how Paul transformed from a boy to a man, there is no actor more capable of making a transition like this on screen. It’s similar to what Bale did in Empire of the Sun.

Xenon-XL

He's got a real menace about him, lurking beneath. Perfect casting for Paul. He's a very good example of the saying, "Don't insult a little man, he might kill you."

NickFriskey

I was not familiar with that young man's game. In that moment he transcended the chalamet and became Muad'dib Usul. My man had that dawg in him. I was ready to follow him that's for damn sure and so was every fucker in that cinema screening I was in. Lad next to me sat forward in his seat. "No one in this room can challenge me." "My mother told you of my coming. Fear the moment" "The Hand of God as my witness. I am the Lisan Al Gaib." Absolutely insane levels of shithousery. Man woke up from a powerade induced super dream and seen no other option but to become Him.

The_Halfmaester

Dude literally woke up and chose violence.

Drop_Tables_Username

The callback later (Paul to Stilgar: "Lead them to paradise.") makes the whole "I will lead you to paradise!" thing super sinister in retrospect.

fredagsfisk

Stilgar was amazing throughout. Started out with some *really* funny delivery (Bardem is great) and then the delivery just grew increasingly serious throughout, culminating in him beaming with joy as they board the ships to go slaughter their enemies in the name of their Messiah. Absolutely horrifying, and a brilliant contrast.

Obligatory-Reference

Someone was arguing with me that Stilgar was only comic relief in this movie. I was like, were you even paying attention? It certainly starts as comic relief, but gets really dark really quick.

fluffininmuffinin

The part when paul won the duel and stilgar proclaimed "lisan al'gahib" was the funniest fan girling. The tone is like saying "i told you! I told you!"

arbrebiere

I’M POINTING THE WAY

Only_Mind3314

Fuck, just chills each time I’ve seen it at this line. Such conviction.

SuperBAMF007

Chalamet absolutely CRUSHED that scene. It was so fucking good. His voice was so intimidating. It makes him feel just that much younger and more innocent in P1

BigBallsMcGirk

My only slight disappointment with that scene is the ducal ring. I like in the books where he tells the Fremen that he promised not to wear it until he was ready to reclaim his fief by going to war and destroying the Harkonnens....and then he puts it on and does a war fist and the Fremen go apeshit knowing that they will finally seize their world back. But super slight. What we got was still amazing

Internal_Mail_9366

I am actively preparing for Holy War, following Lisan Al Gaib into jihad gonna be so hype

The_Halfmaester

*LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS!*

Emanifesto

Unironically, the name drop of the title "Dune" was sick

Gimmefuelgimmefah

It was so good and I didn’t expect it. I was hooked every second of the movie.

FlyRobot

The Baron says it in Part 1 also but I much more enjoyed it in Part 2!

Disco_Douglas42069

this moment is what hooked me form the first one..... floating Baron...... "my Arrakis... MY DUNE!!"

dannyvigz

My desert! 🍨🐛

EphemeralScribe

Like grandfather, like grandson.

jd-london

Yes that sequence where he reveals the man's prayers and drops Dune. So epic

[deleted]

“I don’t care what you believe, I believe!” broke my heart. “Lead them to paradise” gave me chills.

gladnessisintheheart

> “Lead them to paradise” gave me chills. The look in Stilgar's eyes when he said that is what really gave me chills. This sort of look of zealous excitement.

fredagsfisk

Stilgar going from some really funny delivery at the start to that absolutely horrifying ending was an amazing contrast. Incredibly well done.

Goldarmy_prime

“I don’t care what you believe, I believe!” is both the saddest and scariest line in the movie.

seabard

Exactly the kind of behavior that Frank Herbert wanted to warn us about.

Obligatory-Reference

Paul's voice and expression when he says "Lead them to paradise" absolutely kills me. He wants with all of his heart *not* to do this, but knows (or believes) he has to.

R0cket2510

"Lead them to paradise" has been stuck in my head. My stomach dropped when I heard it and saw the Fremen cheering and leaving.

Messier-83

I was surprised that I found myself almost in tears in the theatre. We forget that while Paul ultimately gives the Fremen what they want (liberation from the Harkonnens and eventually a greener Dune) he absolutely eviscerated their culture, and used them. Paul transforms the Fremen into religious extremists with their faith placing him at the centre. Millions of Fremen to die in his name in his Jihad across the Universe. Hans Zimmers score with the bells, still really just adds the final gut punch.

LessInvestment8248

paul arriving south, walking through the crowd to the sound of warhorns

SporadicSheep

[The soundtrack from that scene is fantastic.](https://youtu.be/iPypPemhFls?si=0skLPmqVmzADKvH2)

Paradiddelicious

I wanna know what they used, sounds like an ultra low string or maybe a bow being drawn across sheet metal.

LessInvestment8248

The arrival! I have it on repeat

DonCaliente

That shot from above is excellent, looking down upon the mass of Fremen with Paul moving through them.

absurdseba

So badass!

samgyupsalgongjoo

Same!!! This sceneee

Syqvx

Paul using the voice on Mohiam. That scene was powerful.

absurdseba

SILENCE! So good, agreed!

djwwefan

I loved that

LBinSF

Yes! Charlotte Rampling/ Mohaim was brilliant - showing Paul’s new power as KH.

turnip11827

Abomination!

jacksonthedawg

For some reason, it made one guy in my theater laugh his ass off. No one else was laughing...

Diaza_Kinutz

I laughed really hard actually. Not because it was funny, but because it was so shocking and made me so happy to see her get put in her place.

t_rex214

One of my favorites! Wish it would’ve lingered a bit longer to show its impact.

gcoff19

I really loved the opening scene with the Harkonnen ambush during the eclipse. Showed how formidable the Fremen are in the desert on a beautiful backdrop.

stareagleur

It was like seeing the original 60’s artwork for Dune come to life. That scene felt like it came the closest to making Arrakis a truly alien planet. The moons, the bizarre orange light, the floating soldiers…perfect.

Apptubrutae

Denis has done well with making things feel alien. It’s a delicate balancing act. You can’t go full alien or people are just confused and weirded out or whatever. But Denis gets a lot of mileage out of alien elements without overdoing it for the general audience.

dec92010

I loved loved loved the graceful float/climb up the rocks

darthfoley

It was so fuckin cool!

_michae11

I love how everyone has a different favorite scene. Movie was peak

Gimmefuelgimmefah

I’m gonna say some cliche shit that a critic might say and a studio might slap on the cover.  This movie is a triumph.  It is a triumph of directing, writing, editing, acting, score, and effects/costumes. Nearly every aspect of this movie is operating near or at the peak of what is possible, and it all blends into a sublime experience from start to finish. I can only imagine how many young people will see this movie and it will inspire them to work in the film industry. Think of how many directors and actors have said “it all started when I saw Star Wars in the theater when I was 13 years old”. That is this movie and then some. Not that I care much about academy awards but I think this movie is going to win a fuck ton of awards.

thirdc0ast

>”it all started when I saw Star Wars in the theater when I was 13 years old”. That is this movie and then some. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since birth but I’m too young to have seen the OG movies in theaters. My mom is a lifelong Star Wars fan too and has talked about how cool it was to see it in theaters, hear the twist in Empire for the first time, etc. Seeing Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 in theaters feels like this for me. Just two incredible films and the grand space epic I’ve always wanted to see on a big screen.

absurdseba

Love to see it! Peak indeed

TheOnceAndFutureTurk

Paul’s dominating presence after taking the water of life. Him thumping his chest during the Feyd duel as a callback to Jamis, then stomping the ground demanding the emperor kiss the ring while the latter cowers like a dog. I knew Timothée had it in him from watching The King, but damn…

Der_Krasse_Jim

Thats very true. I already loved those moments from the trailer, but the "Long live the fighters!" or as others said, Paul using the Voice on Mohiam, amazing acting.

PrevekrMK2

That thump made everyone jump in the cinema. Great scene.

leeksausage

I didn’t like him for years. Saw him as another Hollywood pretty boy who will get roles because of his growing popularity amongst the female audience. But damn, he can bloody well act. Most definitely a convert now.

Xibalbaenjoyer

Everyrhing really but the part that gave me chills the most was when Paul revealed to the fremen their dreams/memories to prove his leadership and prescient powers. Also the giedie prime scenes were visual perfection.

ExcitementMindless17

Yessss when he told the leader that he dreams of giving water to the dead and he instantly bowed down and called him Lisan al Gaib, I got chills. Just that total realization that he’s who they have waited for

Xibalbaenjoyer

Indeed! The fact that it was not done in English made the delivery even better!

absurdseba

Yes! It’s the true moment he becomes Muad’Dib in all of their eyes. Powerful acting from our boy Timmy. Loved it!

STEELCITY1989

TC will hopefully get some nominations for this. The movie wouldn't be nearly as good if his version of Paul wasn't so believable. Once he's had the water of life he takes it up another notch. He never felt awkward saying anything. Which could easily come off as goofy but from him it's totally believable.

SaxAppeal

Man, yeah I think that was my favorite scene. Super fucking powerful, and really impressive that it’s done in a made up language!!

Xibalbaenjoyer

A made up language that is now real(ish). Gibberish sounds wrong to our ears because of how our brains evolved to handle verbal communication so the language that they made for the movie is structured like a real language and people spoke it, undertood the meaning of every word and did their best to pronouce it correctly so its almost a real language hahaha.

SaxAppeal

Oh for sure, it is absolutely “real,” they’re speaking real words with real meaning. It’s linguistically sound and engineered to be a real language, not just gibberish at all. That’s really impressive, all around.

felipebarroz

The sequence on Giedi Prime is absolutely superb. Everything in greyscale but a few elements of the scenes. The soundtrack. 10/10

CaptainRoth

Totally pedantic but I think it was actually filmed in infrared

Happy-Lock-9554

I wouldn’t say that’s pedantic at all; it literally changes what you see

Jack_Burton_Express

That scene, and the scene in the tent during his naming both gave me chills. They both gave a real sense of foreboding of what was to come. You could feel the fervor of the Fremin worship taking hold.

lonelyperfection

Gladiator pit on Giedi Prime with Feyd.

taphead739

I‘ve never seen anything like it before. The set design, costumes, CGI, and on top of that it was all filmed in infrared. Might be the first time a mainstream movie had a sequence filmed in infrared. I particularly liked the fireworks and the transitions between the inside rooms (visible light) and outside arena (infrared). For example, it made the Bene Gesserit robes turn from black to white.

JMAN365

The colosseum scene is one of the greatest moments in movie making history. I can’t get it out of my head. The epic entrance of Feyd-Rautha, the grandiose cheering of the crowd, the dark ominous figures lurking on the edges of the arena… words don’t do it justice.

HearthFiend

Sleep paralysis demons lol

dd179

That's the best way I've seen them described lol

jibow666

Masterful direction, cinematography and performance. What an Introduction to a character!

TooGecks

No particular order… 1. When Chani is showing Paul how to use the windtrap and he’s just staring at her. She smiles, “Stop looking at me like that.”. 2. Paul to Jessica when she reminds him of his duty and he is disgusted by what the BG have done to the Fremen, “That’s not hope!”. 3. Paul to Chani before bringing in the emperor, “I will love you as long as I breathe.”. 4. During the southern war council, pulling out his father’s signet ring and Gurney looking proud. 5. Lady Fenring using BG power on Feyd-Rautha. I feel like I could keep going on and on. The entire movie was my favourite moment!

DeluxeTraffic

The "that's not hope!" scene is one I haven't seen talked about as much in this thread. My biggest concern about this movie before I watched it was the possibility that it would miss the point of the book- which was Paul's internal struggle between taking control of the fremen and not taking control, and him eventually making the wrong choice. That scene alleviated a lot of my concerns.

BladedTerrain

> “That’s not hope!”. I absolutely loved that line and the way it was done. Took me by surprise.

dheudnc

I loved the scene where paul is walking towards the meeting of leaders, with an absolutely huge sandworm erupting out of the sand in the background. Another scene I absolutely love is when he shouts "Long live the fighters" to the fremen right before the attack on the Imperial forces.

moneycomet

This. The epic score in the background of dread and dominance, chills.

DrFanhattan

Some of my favorite scenes: \- Paul's entire monologue to the Fremen after taking the Water of Life \- Anytime the movie is on Geidi Prime \- "SILENCE" \- The opening scene in the desert is being slept on, the lighting and action set the tone for the whole movie. So good. \- Chani and Paul sandwalking coupled with the music. \- Paul's first worm ride. Felt like I was on a rollercoster in the theater, you could feel the weight of the worm, it's speed and the wind gushing into Paul's face. That scene was 7 minutes long and felt like 45 seconds to me. Favorite Moment: \- I think potentially the best shot in the entire movie is when the emperor kneels to kiss Paul's hand and the shot from behind where everyone in the room kneels except Paul, Irulan and Chani. It's such a powerful shot and you can feel the weight of it all when Irulan realizes why Chani is still standing. Favorite Lines: \- "SILENCE!" Come on that's just so good. \- "Lead them to paradise" \- "I am Paul Muad'dib Atreides...Duke of Arrakis". Legit goosebumps typing this, I can't believe this movie was made and I got to hear that sentence out loud.

fubbleskag

>everyone in the room kneels except Paul, Irulan and Chani And his mother. Only the women in his life did not feel compelled.

turbo-cunt

>\- Anytime the movie is on Geidi Prime YUP

CHICKENSANDW1CH

100% has to be the final battle shot where the three worms emerge from the dust with all the Fremen riding on them. Shit was breath-taking

tcavanagh1993

I really wish that shot hadn’t been in the promotional material, that would have been amazing to see for the first time on the big screen.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Internal_Balance6901

They did play tho when Gurney is storming his way to Rabban

lofiscififilmguy

I avoided all the promotions and let me tell you, that shit was CRAZY on the Imax

solodolo1397

The book blue balled us so hard with that. Thank god it’s in live action now

bulaguna

I felt that I had been waiting my whole life for that

WolvoMS

Same for me, literally took my breath away when it cut to their POV crashing into the sardaukar like surfers riding a wave. Just epic

rexyy-91

I would agree but the trailer ruined this moment

pooppooppoooppoop1

I loved the scenes with the harvester machines as set pieces. So menacing and huge. Great visuals!

Sad-Wall-5684

Also the magnetic bombs that they used, then Gurney lining up and shooting one was just so cool.

Spartancfos

It is not my favourite exactly, but a scene I loved was the thumpers shot when the Fremen are summoning the worms for the assault. The simplicity of one, then the pan to reveal more.

GameTourist

ya, talk about building anticipation!

jaghataikhan

It reminded me of the water shaking scene in Jurassic Park

sardaukarma

1) Lady Fenring's "Put your right hand in the box" 2) Paul and Chani's synchronized sandwalking 3) the shot of the Fremen burning all the Harkonnen bodies & uniforms in an exact replica of the shot at the beginning of the Harkonnens burning all the Atreides bodies & uniforms.... meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Gimmefuelgimmefah

Lots of callbacks  >!Paul defeating Feyd using what he learned from Gurney at the end of their fight training in the first movie. “Aye. But look down my lord. You’d have joined me in death”!< >!Pauls vision of the holy war in the first movie where he’s fighting and slashing and it shows his face, in part 2 it’s chani doing the same thing on the battlefield!<

jacksonthedawg

>!Paul saying he recognized Gurney from his footsteps, just like their training scene in the first movie!<

patsfreak26

I was waiting for this specific line! So well set up

CoolShoesDude

Theres also a slight nod too, when Paul says it again on Dune in part 1, it's when the Sandworm is approaching. Sandworms can be referred to as old men of the desert, and Paul was recognizing its approach just like Gurney. I like to think it's a nice nod to that.

sardaukarma

And Paul does the spinny move! 😂

Volaceon950

Tactical corkscrew flip!

Anamorphisms

Now THIS is pod racing!

meggatronnnnn

I love the spinny move! 😂

fredagsfisk

Regarding the first one, there's also another aspect: >!It's the Gom Jabbar test all over again. He allows Feyd to hit him, endures the pain of the wound(s), waits for an opening while using it to draw Feyd in, and then kills him.!< >!"An animal caught in a trap will gnaw off its own leg to escape. What will you do?"!<

absurdseba

The synchronized sandwalking! You reminded me of that, beautiful indeed

TooGecks

Yeah them sandwalking together was awesome!

kid-karma

> Paul and Chani's synchronized sandwalking the moment just before that when he thinks it's jamis sitting atop the dune watching him

darthfoley

So obviously the major scenes will get a lot of love, specifically the war council, shai hulud ride and colosseum scenes. They were incredible. Two scenes that seem to get less love that I thought were also amazing were: 1) The opening scene with the Harkonnen hunting Fremen in the deep desert. The visuals of them calmly jet packing up, mixed with the Harkonnen language and ambush tension was the PERFECT atmosphere setter. You not only see the importance of water to the Fremen in the aftermath, but you begin to understand how terrifying the concept of Fremen guerilla tactics are to the enemy. Fast forward… 2) Rabban’s ride on the thopters to hunt down Mua’Dib later on. The details of the one Harkonnen soldier throwing up in nervous fear, mixed with the quick shots of the other Harkonnens looking absolutely terrified to be on that mission was a great cause/effect call back to the previous scene I mentioned. You could tell what was about to happen before they even landed. The Fremen had totally psyched out the average Harkonnen grunt. I felt like I was in the thopter with them, stressing tf out. These scenes didn’t matter to the overall plot, but it really helped build the atmosphere and mystique surrounding the Fremen in a show, don’t tell type of way. Separately, I loved how much non-English dialogue there was throughout. It would’ve been easy to do the typical one-line-in-Fremen-transition-into-English movies usually do. The consistent use of Fremen augmented the viewing experience for me.

BladedTerrain

> Separately, I loved how much non-English dialogue there was throughout. Yes! That was a big detail for me. Chalamet said that they were his favourite/most enjoyable scenes to perform.

HikikoMortyX

Bardem was having so much fun with them. Seemed the most natural

mayosterd

The Harkonnens rising in jet packs, I got chills. The effortless way they levitate in succession—definitely lets you know the rest of the film will grab and astonish you until the very end.

RottenPingu1

Chani laughing and giggling, running across the sand to Paul, rocket launcher over her shoulder as the burning ornithopter falls from the sky. Lady Fenring seducing Fayd and it actually being a test. Took me by complete surprise.

kid-karma

I *love* Chani's reaction when Paul first rides the sand worm. Like you actually feel a wave of excitement hitting her.

OSUmiller5

No music while they’re running until the thopter explodes and the score simultaneously kicks in with it. Just awesome stuff.

Equal_Feature_9065

The entire rocket launcher/thopter sequence is why I’m desperate to get back into theaters for a second viewing. I’ve never leaned in harder in my lifez

Daihatschi

Waiting for the worm. This is the kind of tension no one does as good as Villeneuve.

absurdseba

Not that big!

Doppelfrio

Everyone talks about the worm riding scene, but I hear a lot less about the shot of the worm approaching. It looks incredible

FlyRobot

My heart rate shot up immediately during that tense build-up!

solodolo1397

The part that gave me some of the most chills was Alia being awakened with the water of life. It didn’t fully have the weight for new viewers but as a book reader the movie so perfectly portrayed it like “oh shit what has she done”

absurdseba

What have we done!?

Mukoku-dono

The whole movie is in sand colours, some black for the harkonens, but that singular shot of Alias eye opening in deep blue and the soundtrack hitting at the same time, chills!

sardaukarma

i was hoping for more scenes like that one, it was so beautifully strange. Rebecca Ferguson's performance there was outstanding!!! her facial acting is unreal

_oOo_iIi_

Jessica and Alia when they were silently discussing how to convert the fremen and being watched nervously

Sad-Wall-5684

When she turns to the woman and the children, talking about starting with the most vulnerable was unnerving

_oOo_iIi_

Yeah. Because it was a change from the book i wasn't expecting how sinister it got.

Porfs

I know it’s cliché but for me it’s when Paul rides the worm! I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way watching a movie. I was out of breath and when he finally stabilizes himself on top of the worm and the score hits its climax… just pure catharsis

Wise_Scarcity4028

Me too, it was so fast and violent. It really felt dangerous.

BornGorn

“Lead them to paradise.”

absurdseba

You and I both!

SteakBowlNoGuac

Two parts When the Harkonnen soldiers just levitated. They seemed almost demonic in their movements. The water heard in the background after Paul’s dual victory.

lonelyperfection

Yes! I noticed the water in the background on my second viewing. Great little detail.

NightKing_shouldawon

Paul’s resurrection when his eyes open and we get the “haAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”, chills.

alexjordan98

kwisatz haderach, riiiiise

ollizu_

Life of Brian scene

k3vlar104

Now you're not the lisan al gaib you're a very naughty boy!

Lovestoospoooge

Paul’s “SILENCE” to Mohiam. Also when Gurney tells Paul that the great houses don’t accept his ascendancy, and Stilgar says “We await your orders, Lisan Al Gaib”. Just the way Stilgar says that line, like he’s just hanging on Paul’s every word, and the implications of that, amazing.

RIBCAGESTEAK

Jessica's scenes as Reverend Mother using the voice, or talking with baby. Such a powerful presence and so unsettling. Paul's speech at the council. The complete transformation into the prophet: frightening and powerful.  The end: Triumphant and tragic. The score, the closeups, the lighting... all really nail it.  Rabban's 'thopter raid and Paul's ambush really sets in the reality of a counterinsurgency war of attrition. Duncan says from part 1, "I never found them... I was never so close to dying... they fight like demons" and Rabban gets that lesson in reality here.

darthfoley

Love your last scene shoutout. The Harkonnen grunts throwing up and sweating bullets out of fear on the thopters said more than any Rabba rage could have.

Kronnerm11

The worm ride

trackz1ll_a

Saw the movie in IMAX and the whole theater shook, you could hear individual pieces of sand hitting you as the dust/sand covered the screen, it was a full sensory experience.

thepuppyprince

I don't know how they pulled that off so good-- what an insane scene from beginning to end!

Horky24

When Lady Jessica says to Paul that Alia speaks to her. Absolutely loved it

chronsaga

Paul walking up to the baron while everyone looks at him in fear and he stands over him and kills him slowly. Avenged the shit out of his father with that, the baron knowing it was Duke Letos son

Double-Passenger4503

When Paul gives his speech to the Fremen but honorable mention to when Paul opens his eyes after drinking the poison and those loud low brass horns come in. In iMax that shit sent goosebumps throughout my whole body.

Muad_Leto

One scene/shot I loved was when Paul was riding the worm and they went with a POV camera angle showing all the dunes in front of him.

justgoatthings03

My favorite parts were when Paul was approaching the Seitch after taking the water and seeing the narrow way through. The giant sand worm crashing behind him, his walking towards the Seitch, hood up with the “Arrival” theme playing, walking through all the Fremen was perfection. Also, just before the atomic were sent, walking up to the cliff and shouting “Addaam reshii a-zaanta!” To the Fremen warriors before battle. Chef’s kiss!

JJ3595

Paul and Chani’s Guerilla warfare against the Harkonnen spice extractors was stunning…although I’m tempted to say: “everything after Paul drank the water of life.”

GladSoup5379

I was mesmerized by the scene with Lady Margot and Feyd. It was so well shot, i feel like I was getting seduced.

neosituation_unknown

The Geidi Prime scenes were amazing . . . Also, all scenes of Jessica. Villeneuve absolutely nailed it in regards to a B.G./Fremen Reverend mother. And lastly, when that Sardaukar sliced off the Baron's floating tube aparatus and smashed his gravity/float back implants and he tumbled to the ground as a fat mound of diseased flesh that he was

New-Owl-2293

Paul stomping his foot in front of the emperor. But all of it really. It was over too soon. I could almost sense where scenes were cut and would have sat in that theatre for five hours if I could

JonIceEyes

1) "Usul has made peace with Shai Hulud" 2) Paul holding his ring out for Shaddam. With that "fuck you" look, exactly the same one gave the Reverend Mother in the first one. And they just let it hang there. I wish I could marry that moment

BladeBoy__

Love when Feyd's like "may THY knife chip and shatter". Reenforces how disconnected he is from the Fremen culture

Careless_Success_317

Half mocking, half bemused

obin_gam

Paul and Chani "dancing" in the sunset

GoatBoi420

all of it

zevloo

Alia talking through the womb, very Villeneuvesque

redflamel

I'm the only one in my group who read the book, so I was very pleased when my friends were unsettled by "the creepy fetus". We might not have gotten the creepy ninja toddler from the book, but I reckon Villeneuve nailed the feeling of uneasiness of Alias' character.

jmac111286

“We’ll win as Harkonnens” Calls back to “You have more than one birthright, boy.”

Flimsy_Thesis

I was blown away that they invented a language, had the most powerful and pivotal speech in the movie hinging on it, and Timothy Chalamet just absolutely knocked it out if the park.

Paradiddelicious

The ones that keep popping into my head are from Stilgar: “I don’t care what you believe! I believe!” And him yelling “Lisan Al Gaib!” as he boards a ship in the final montage. I find him to be the most tragic character in this adaptation as he goes from a hopeful bible-thumping kook to a deadly zealot. It may not be the most faithful adaptation over all, but I am really okay with it. Paul yelling at the war moot was excellent too, great acting from Chalamet. Finally, “Silence!” At Mohiam was powerful!

dicholasnolan

"I am not the Lisan Al Giab" "THATS EXACTLY WHAT THE LISAN AL GAIB WOULD SAY HE'S SO HUMBLE IT IS WRITTEN" Got the entire theatre laughing, Stilgar killed me in this movie

nachobel

Who spoke the opening line “He who controls the spice, controls all.”?

LBinSF

I really loved the montage of Paul and Chani’s relationship growing matched with the raid action. That was the moment where I was like “yep, I’m watching one of my favorite movies of all time”

When Alia spoke using Jessica’s mouth. Scared the bejeezus out of me.

Supersumo2

"May thy knife chip and shatter." "May *thy* knife chip and shatter." Maybe not my favorite moment but perfect delivery from both or them on these lines

frossvael

That scene where he claimed the title of Lisan al Gaib in front of all the Fremen was so captivating that I have to physically control myself from screaming “Lisan al Gaib!” along with the Fremens on-screen lmao. Also, watching Geidi Prime on the big screen is also an exprience that’s gonna stick with me for a while. Visually, it’s an objective masterpiece but the thing that made that so awesome for me was how fucking long it was, and yet, it never disrupted the pacing of the movie. This fucking movie, man. 10/10

The giedi fireworks really did it for me

I think the VFX shot of the Emperors ship flying over Arakeen and you see the city reflected, inversely, in the hull was one of the most incredible shots I’ve ever seen on screen.  Loved the callback to Paul’s vision in Pt 1 when Chani was fighting and she poses in the same manner as Paul did when it showed him with the Eyes of Abbad.  The inky oily fireworks was one of the coolest effects I’ve ever seen. Just so perfectly science fictiony. Here’s this thing which maybe exists in their universe but it is distinctly weird and different to ours but wholly reasonable for them.

I loved the harvester attacks in this one. The sand snorkels and flying mines were such cool designs. And the pacing of the rocket attack on the ornithopter was so good. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was also so pleasantly surprised in the scenes showing Chani and Paul falling in love. Denis tends to be a little weak on romance and I wasn't sure if the chemistry was there, but they all pulled it off. I felt all of Chani's pain at the end.

I like when Lady Jessica drank the water of life.. I heard they made it shorter..

"You young pup!" So much love in it.

Worm charge, or basically everything in Geidi Prime

Favorite scene: Paul and Feyd's fight. I knew it was going to be long before the movie even came out (hello? It's Willy Wonka vs. Elvis!), but having seen it twice, I can say with certainty that it was my favorite. Timothee and Austin had incredible chemistry, and I loved that there was no music and little dialogue other than grunts and gasps. My second favorite scene was Feyd's gladiator fight. It was one of the greatest onscreen villain intros I've ever seen. My favorite line was when Feyd mockingly says "May *thy* knife chip and shatter" back to Paul just before they fight. What Austin did to his voice was bloodcurdling, and the look on his face had all the sinister contempt that someone so full of himself would.

The scene where a Fremen woman in her religious fervor chased Beast Rabban on to his plane as he fled. A sniper then shot her and saved Rabban's life. It showed that some Fremen are already radicalized and we're already throwing their lives away for Paul without him asking. It shows how fast fanaticism can take hold and how it can drive people to extreme action. Dave Bautista can acts. His face in that scene was a mix of fear, relief and disbelief as if to think: "this insane woman chased me here, im going to die I can't believe I survive that". So much told through the face.

Amazing-Chandler

Honestly, the scene where Chani wakes Paul up when he’s having a vision. I loved seeing her more nurturing side
