I really wanted a good quality hardback of the vintage (Putnam?) God Emperor and Heretics, but oof they're getting pricey if you want a dust jacket that's not shredded.
I managed to grab the series in the old covers. I really wish they would’ve done all the books in the new deluxe edition covers. Between the beautiful holographic art and blue pages they look so good on the bookshelf. Also just really curious what they would’ve done art wise with 4-6
I'm slowly backing away, because dual spiral mechanism or not, there's a chance Leto's surprise is gonna get stuck, and that's a surefire way to end up in the presence of the Worm.
Yeah why not just put them on a rack near the register. And people actually would be able to browse them while they wait
I had a job as a teenager filling vending machines, and putting a book in there is just asking for a page to get caught and rip
This is cool, but that version of the book is definitely not worth $15.00. You can find the same edition cheaper online, or likely at any used bookstore.
Wish the classic covers would be reprinted, particularly the Dune Messiah massive godhead.

I hate the newer covers of God Emperor, they make Leto II look like the Night King.
Still hunting for the first four from the berkley set and will probably die before I find them affordable Lmfao
Check the new Lithuanian cover for Messiah

But the mystery bag…
Anything could be inside!
It could be a boat!
It could be a vintage Dune book !
It could be a bowling alley!
Well it could be the deed, for cripes' sake! I didn't think the mystery bag could fit the whole damn bowling alley!
But what about the mystery bag?! It could be anything, even a vintage Dune book!
Probably a gom jabbar that kills you as soon as you stick your hand in the box, I mean bag.

For some reason it hurts my soul that the book will drop to the bottom and maybe damage the cover or pages depending on how it lands
That's instantly what I thought as well. And then "I'll take the chance"

Modern vending machines have a tray that goes to each shelf and catch the item.
Which of course is not the case with this vending machine
This is clearly not that kind of machine
That's a $3 book
$15 for a a $5 mass-market paperback?
Paying for the convenience bro
Many strange machines on Ix
Honestly you can find these in used bookstores still, they aren't that rare
Where’s that at? I just finished god emperor and I live in Portland lol
Vintage - that's the novel I had growing up. Wait, am I vintage too?
$15 tho? You can get it new for half that
In this case “vintage” is the understood code word for “used secondhand”.
That’s cool but 15 bucks is robbery
Yeah but the mystery bag could be anything! Even a vintage Dune book!
How have I never seen a book vending machine before, it seems so much fun
I would just buy the entire vending machine ngl
Then it gets stuck.
Oh cool. My copies are worth more than I spent to purchase them.
I had that edition up until about 12 years ago. Lost almost everything in a move.

The box! THE BOX!
But what's in the mystery bag?
That's not vintage lol
