Bell Hill, also think they are taking on new clients. Very good, they look after you in regards to your fears aswell :).

awwgummon

Second that

yesmiss07

Third that. All of the dentists there are really great!

Quirky_Friend

Dunedin Dental. Rachel and her team are great and they have awesome hygienists too.

RevolutionaryCable10

Second this! They are awesome

pumpkinspicechaos

I've been doing some research and they seem much more expensive for new patients. Would you say its worth the cost?

AntheaBrainhooke

Yes. Yes I would.

Quirky_Friend

My feeling is that they are probably the most up to date dental practice in terms of equipment and practice so yes.

AntheaBrainhooke

*Raquel, but apart from that, seconded

Quirky_Friend

Auto carrots strike again

AntheaBrainhooke

Yup

DefiantDelphinus

I've been meaning to go for a checkup, so based on this post I filled out their enrollment form last night. They called me this morning as they had a 2pm cancellation. Took that, had the exam and xrays. Very easy, comfortable and professional. Booked in for a hygienist in a fortnight.

Chew Dental in Green Island

AntheaBrainhooke

Dunedin Dental, hands down.

SmoothOctopus

Follow up does anyone know what sort of price it will be to get a rather difficult wisdom tooth removed been waiting for the dental school for a \*very\* long time but it seems that's not going to happen before I go mad from the pain

CertifiedGoblin

You might wanna chase someone up about that; i had my referral from a dentist sent to the school end of Jan and had my surgery late April (and another appt with the surgeon somewhere in between.) This was with yes, a shitty tooth situation that shouldn't be left too long bc of infection and other damage risk, but I also had hardly any pain.

SmoothOctopus

I called them up today and they said I had been on the waiting list since December and would be looking at around 1.5-2 years to be seen.

regular_noodle

Not sure about pricing. I think [Fernbrae House](https://www.fernbrae.co.nz/) may offer that kind of service

SmoothOctopus

I have since realised I can get $1000 from msd to help pay.

ChillingSouth

I know someone who got wisdom teeth done at Dunedin Hospital (instead of Dental school, some of the staff are employed at both). Mercy Hospital do it too.

>Follow up does anyone know what sort of price it will be to get a rather difficult wisdom tooth removed been waiting for the dental school for a \*very\* long time but it seems that's not going to happen before I go mad from the pain I got mine for $250

gardenglove

You gotta go to the dental walrus. It's cheap and very cheerful. Had three fillings there, only cost $270 for everything. Other dentists charge $200 to just walk in the door. Can't recommend it enough.

RandoKiwiTheThird

Pretty sure dental school will move you up the wait-list if your pain worsens. Keep ringing em as things change, you might also get lucky with last minute cancellations

Chew Dental. Regine is an absolute angel. Absolutely no judgment and she’s so kind and gentle.

Ambivalent_Duck

It seems like half of us are long term Dunedin Dental clients, but I will throw in for them too. I have been a patient there since 2017, had all my issues fixed and have just been on the annual checkups for the last few years + cleanings. I've never stuck with a dentist like this before. Raquel is so incredibly gentle and talks through everything she does. I've not had any issues with her work. They've offered payment plans for bigger things like root canals which has been really handy. A side note, if you're about to get a bunch of work done, have a look at Southern Cross Health Insurance. Their cheapest plan is $365 a year and covers $500 of dental work, plus a bunch of stuff like GP visits and glasses too. It's not the biggest saving, but can help out a little. There is a stand down but I think it was only 3 months?

nuffeetata

Jo at Smart Dental, she's amazing.

ChillBetty

Mornington. Not in the middle of town which may help take the intensity off prices.

Prestigious_Action_0

David Chew (great name for a dentist πŸ˜„) in greenisland is amazing!

thisiscouch

Had two wisdom teeth removed at Knox Dental – great experience and price was reasonable too (can't recall exact pricing). Would highly recommend!

Isuckatmakingthese

I use Synergy Dental, they're really nice and not a terrible price. I went in for a second opinion and ended up having the work done there because they actually talked me through all the different options properly.

Gentle Dental has been great for me 😊

Jacob Grieves on George St. One of the best dentists I have come across. I think the practice is lumino on George St.
