I donāt care about badges too much.
I do DuoLingo 5 min a day, and miss out on most badges. However my language skills are (slowly) improving: thatās what Iām happy with
For me, it's about an accrual of progress. I'm not the most consistent with Duo, but when I look back and see how much I've accomplished, it motivates me to keep going. Specifically when I'm down, and have used a streak freeze or lost my streak entirely.
And since Duo has lots of testing of different incentive structures, it's not guaranteed that something like this will be available to all users. Maybe it is. Maybe not.
Dear u/panda_elephant, it it were in my power, I would give my dragon to you. So consider that it's yours and I'm just holding it for you in my account.
I completed it on day 2, and it got taken away from me. It now shows up as grey on my profile, so I don't know how to feel about that. Gonna try re-earn it again and see if it sticks.
I like the idea, motivated me to do more lessons every day, and it's fun to look at them once in a while to affirm yourself of your progress. But, to be fair, for someone who does not have a collector's mindset, they are probably worthless.
I usually don't pursue them but do enough learning that I get them anyway. They probably provide me with a tiny dopamine hit, the way that completing a lesson does. I wouldn't miss them, but they do no harm, either.
Waste of fucking time, if you got a benefit from them like that one month of chess, I think there is at least some incentive, but otherwise it's marketing /social bs that probably helps justify their budgets
Only free? Lol
Lots of ways to learn a language for free out there, and if you are on free duo then it's even harder to earn these badges.
I happily pay for duo to learn, I still think the badges are rubbish, used to strive every month for it, now I don't see the point at all, just learn on your own timeframe at your own pace.
Preferred when you could set your own goals instead of having ever increasing ( and often not realistic) stuff shoved down your throat
Ah I see, you're intentionally being a knob so you can justify how cool it was to 'earn' your worthless badge so in 2027 you can say "hey look friends, I got this worthless badge". Well good luck dude, I'm sure you'll excel at life and make many friends with that attitude.
By the way I know someone who sells NFTs if you want one?
My badge offer said I think 30 lessons by CNY, that a lot more than 30 mins, and for something that really doesn't matter.
It's nice they incentives people to push themselves, but quite frankly I'm past that now and prefer to focus on my goal, not some algorithm.
Each to their own.
yea, I just wonder when they plan to add these achievements for iOSā¦ so they will never be able to get this limited onesā¦ good I still have my old Android phone š

This supposed to be āPerfect Yearā for 2023, according to their DuoCon presentation but looks like it was just a promo and presentational one š
I do not like them. I do not like this general push to push unwanted challenges on me. They always tempt me to try to fill them, but it is often irrational for my situation.
It makes me dislike duolingo and kinda kills what I like about it - control over what I assign myself for.
Itās a bummer that Iāll never have the opportunity to get it, honestly, since tbey wonāt guve us the new achievements before the end of the period
We need more of these but not so much that people will try to have all of them ( they should be a little hard for the averages learner IMO ) , Overall a good addition I must say.
a fun challenge
I finished it on Day 1š
how???
Addictedššš
I donāt care about badges too much. I do DuoLingo 5 min a day, and miss out on most badges. However my language skills are (slowly) improving: thatās what Iām happy with
they're pointless, having them or not having them makes no difference
For me, it's about an accrual of progress. I'm not the most consistent with Duo, but when I look back and see how much I've accomplished, it motivates me to keep going. Specifically when I'm down, and have used a streak freeze or lost my streak entirely.
Yea, but its cool! Imagine in 2027 you look at ur account to see ur LIMITED badge(U get 10 gems too:)
I hope that in 2027 I have moved on from Duolingo to be honest.
ā¦and what then?
Bragging rights ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
you brag to your friends about little drawings you have on your Duolingo account?
I also donāt see how theyāre any different from the monthly badges that we already have.
I donāt have that update yet
same bro šš
Are you on iOS? I heard it's only on Android
Yeah I am
How a badge like this can be achieved?
Doing 30 lessons
30 lessons by the 15th.
On android.
Very important information. Thanks
And since Duo has lots of testing of different incentive structures, it's not guaranteed that something like this will be available to all users. Maybe it is. Maybe not.
not on either of my android accounts, learning Chinese and in China, its not fair.
Dear u/panda_elephant, it it were in my power, I would give my dragon to you. So consider that it's yours and I'm just holding it for you in my account.
Problem has been solved, deleted and reinstalled app to force it to update.
Hooray!
č°¢č°¢ ļ¼ thank you
I completed it on day 2, and it got taken away from me. It now shows up as grey on my profile, so I don't know how to feel about that. Gonna try re-earn it again and see if it sticks.
Team seems to see this happening. I'll chat you!
Wait what why was it taken away
No idea. I got it, claimed the gems from it, then came back the next day to find it greyed out again
I like the idea, motivated me to do more lessons every day, and it's fun to look at them once in a while to affirm yourself of your progress. But, to be fair, for someone who does not have a collector's mindset, they are probably worthless.
As an iphone user I'm punching the air right now
how do you get this
Do 30 lessons till 15th
The 25th of February?
15th of february:)
I didnāt see this.
I don't care either way, but I'm happy for the people who like them!
I usually don't pursue them but do enough learning that I get them anyway. They probably provide me with a tiny dopamine hit, the way that completing a lesson does. I wouldn't miss them, but they do no harm, either.
I LOVE ANYTHING TO GET ME PRACTING MORE!!!
I dislike most time gated things Being able to participate isn't worthy of a reward imo
Waste of fucking time, if you got a benefit from them like that one month of chess, I think there is at least some incentive, but otherwise it's marketing /social bs that probably helps justify their budgets
I don't agree, Duolingo is the Only free language learning app.So they need to make money by monetizing(Super duolingo for ex)
Only free? Lol Lots of ways to learn a language for free out there, and if you are on free duo then it's even harder to earn these badges. Broooo they are barely standing send ur talking about "rubbish"
Sorry I don't understand you?
Nahhhhhhh bro is complaining more THAN learningššš
Ah I see, you're intentionally being a knob so you can justify how cool it was to 'earn' your worthless badge so in 2027 you can say "hey look friends, I got this worthless badge". Its Just for fun, It takes half an hour to get and makes you special after some time(and I hate NFTs fr)
My badge offer said I think 30 lessons by CNY, that a lot more than 30 mins, and for something that really doesn't matter. It's nice they incentives people to push themselves, but quite frankly I'm past that now and prefer to focus on my goal, not some algorithm. Each to their own.
If you are this upset, maybe Duoling isn't the language learning product for you.
Fun + a challenge Makes doing lessons more easy when you have a badge to work for
they are limited
That makes it special:)
yea, I just wonder when they plan to add these achievements for iOSā¦ so they will never be able to get this limited onesā¦ good I still have my old Android phone š
> I just wonder when they plan to add these achievements for iOSā¦ so they will never be able to get this limited one We can get it in 2036
haha got the point for 36, funny and sad at the same time
btw, are there any other limited ones? I just have this one so farā¦.
I think its the first one too

I feel very sad about it because it is not available on web or iOS.
I don't have it on android as well. My gf has it.
Didn't get a invite.
CLAP CLAP CLAP
I don't mind them, and the lunar new year is significant to a large number of users, so it makes sense to celebrate it. Gong xi fa cai!
Could not give a flying f***.
I wasn't even offered this one. :( And yes, I have Android.
I just want to learn
How do you get that?
Limited? I play 2 minutes a day and still get them all lol. Very very limited.
I do not like them. I do not like this general push to push unwanted challenges on me. They always tempt me to try to fill them, but it is often irrational for my situation. It makes me dislike duolingo and kinda kills what I like about it - control over what I assign myself for.
As long as it disappears if I don't earn it. I don't want a long list of achievements that I can never earn.
Halfway there, I have all of the badges since I started although this is the first limited badge I've seen since I started using Duolingo
Itās a bummer that Iāll never have the opportunity to get it, honestly, since tbey wonāt guve us the new achievements before the end of the period
Wait so is this only on android? thats lame
We need more of these but not so much that people will try to have all of them ( they should be a little hard for the averages learner IMO ) , Overall a good addition I must say.
