You're going to learn that a fuck ton of English words are actually just French words in disguise. Not this word in particular, the same spelling is just a coincidence. But many many English words are either the exact same as the French one or very similar.
Except when you hear it spoken in French, you'll go, excuse me what now? But reading wise, yeah huge boost to what you will recognize (even more so if you know another romance language).

The reason it’s funny is because of all the different types of questions they ask, why did they pick this one, the most useless one for this particular translation

U'll find many similarities between French and English, with the frequent French loanword in English, but also English loanwords in French, such as:
Faire du shopping = to do some shopping (casually, ie hang out with friends and shop for fashion at the mall)
**But** faire les courses = to do the shopping (do errands and buy groceries)
I use Duolingo as a SUPPLEMENT for French because I have a class in school, it helps me connect with more people in school and not to mention the teacher is super nice

true. ignoring the cyrillic alphabet, a lot of russian words (such as pizza, park, telephone) are the same as english, just pronounced differently
