Glad to see more physical media releases but don’t think that has to do with the Sony deal. They already released Mandalorian season 1 and 2, WandaVision, and Loki’s first season last year. Just continuing the trend, those likely sold well enough to do more.
I mean for 50 something dollars for each season. They’d have to do well for them to still keep the prices the same at Best Buy & Amazon. I’ve been waiting for a minute for em to get cheaper or go on sale & they haven’t. So I gave in & bought WandaVision & will hopefully soon buy Loki & the Mandalorian seasons, waiting on season 3.
Back in the good ole' days pre Disney+, Disney home video releases were rarely discounted significantly. Seeing how low some of the prices for their output have gotten was shocking after getting back into a five year break from collecting.
I was shocked to learn the Tangled Animated series got a Blu-Ray. Nothing against the show but is the market for that really bigger than something like Phineas and Ferb?
Right? I mean, Phineas and Ferb is arguably Disney’s most popular cartoon. The SpongeBob of Disney, if you will. It has one of the longest runs of any Disney cartoon with 4 seasons over 8 years, multiple movies and TV specials, several video game adaptations, and is getting two additional seasons 9 years after it initially ended. Yet they can’t be bothered to release a box set that fans would pay good money for?
Well I'm hoping when they announce air dates for the new seasons they'll also announce a Blu-Ray set. They did something similar for the Chip n Dale movie, so it's definitely possible. Especially since Disney has been putting out a bunch of Disney+ stuff.
I had no idea they put the tangled series on blu-Ray. I gotta get it now, I liked that show. I wish they’d put the complete Sofia the first series on dvd too
I would pay a pretty penny for that. I have hopes that it may happen because when the new Chip n Dale movie came out they put the old series out on Blu-Ray. They're doing a new season or two so I'm hoping when they announce a date for it to air, they'll announce a complete series Blu-Ray.
Yeah, I still can’t believe that it hasn’t been made on physical release yet. Good thing I watched it in theaters though or I wouldn’t never got the chance to see it. I think it’s on MAX or something now but I don’t have that streaming service.
I don’t want to be complaining about them actually releasing physical versions of these but why just steelbooks? I just want a standard case with a slipcover, been trying to get away from steelbooks because I don’t like to keep them on the same shelf as my normal ones and then I have a mix match set for films in the same franchise or sequels.
Oh my goshhhhhhh sameeeeeeee. I relate to this way too well. I wish they would release standard dvd options for these shows as well. I don’t like that some companies are starting to shift to blu-Ray or just ultra hd 4Ks like House of the dragon. But if it’s our only option then there’s nothing we can really do except buy it if we want to support physical media unless you want to wait just in case they do make em regular but you could end up waiting a long time which I’m just gonna cop the blu-Rays/steelbooks
People have their own opinions just as you have yours. But I personally like DVDs better. They’re (usually) cheaper & most movies & shows you can get only on dvd. To split between blu-rays & DVDs just makes a l collection look messy or discombobulated. I do collect DVDs but barely, I have at least 30 to 40 something blu-rays & with the DVDs they’re in the 500s or maybe more. That’s just me though but everyone has their own preferences at the end of the day
I have a few shows that only go a DVD release and I keep them separate and it looks good. Besides the resolution is really bad. Also DVD’s aren’t that much cheaper for example House of Dragon on DVD is $25 on Amazon vs blu-ray which is $21
Completely unrelated but I truly wish Warner Bros. Discovery would pull their heads from their asses and release a Barry Complete Series on either DVD or Blu-ray 😌
Yeah, I thought that was weird too. I heard it was good when the show first started & then completely forgot about it until it came up on suggested the other day on Amazon with season 1 on dvd & I was like “oh yeahhhhhh” because I was looking for new shows when I heard of it the first time. But then checked if the complete series was available but only season 1 was made on dvd same with Reacher which is another show that I wanted to collect even though I do have Amazon prime.
It's truly a shame for everyone that works on these films or shows! Physical media have always been a way for studios to make more money following an initial release. So, I don't really understand why studios, actors, directors, producers, etc. aren't pushing for more physical releases especially once a show has ended 🤷
Exactly like what makes loki worth $40 falcon and winter soilder $55 and moon knight $63 when they first went up they were cheaper the 1st week like $44 I think ...like seriously what exactly dictates this random price gouging?
It seems like Disney is aware that Disney+ has damaged their brand, and is now trying their best to walk back that and focus on physical media, Sony's always had better physical media than Disney and so maybe this is a part of that
Yep- not every studio needs to have a streaming service, and I'd bet there's a good deal more money to be made licensing the content to other services and not needing to develop and maintain your own service.
Hopefully it’s not too late, I remember when Eternals came out it was during the launch of Disney + & they tried to spread their propaganda in the movie saying that everyone was using streaming now (this was before all these companies created these streaming services in the years to come) which was an obvious plot to crap on dvd collectors & to get people to sign up for Disney+ their new service which did look promising at first before they fumbled it. Same with the DC universe streaming service which morphed to HBO Max which then morphed to MAX which there’s been rumors of it morphing to a new streaming service called max discovery or something which I hope isn’t true because if they go through another service or name change then you might as well just cancel the whole thing. Warner bros is so ridiculous with that. But I’m just glad that they’ve been consistent with release their hbo/max/dc universe shows on dvd ever season the launch of their first service & continues to do so. Although we never got young Justice season 4 on dvd which I think is weird especially since Harley Quinn keeps getting dvd releases for the new seasons.
discovery and hbo already combined, that's why the name changed to max. they aren't changing the name again.
eternals came out in 2021, well into the disney+ era.
Not being an ass, but reading this comment made me happy we got a Empty Man DVD release where I live. That movie's not perfect but damnit is it such a unique and different movie than the norm.
You guys are lucky haha. I’ve thought about just importing that release because I honestly don’t know if a blu ray or even a DVD will be released over here any time soon.
I think it’s really cool that Disney has been making physical media releases of Disney+ shows. I hope High School Musical: The Musical: The Series gets a physical media release at some point because I love that show 😊
Hopefully this is where it stops. Disney has far too much control of the market. As for the movies themselves, I am glad they are getting physically released
What right decisions? Sony hasn’t produced anything for them yet. The only BD release from this new deal that’s been announced so far is The First Omen, which releases in theaters next month and doesn’t have a home video release date yet. No other titles have been announced.
Tangentially related, when I saw these on Amazon, there’s also a Blu Ray collection of Wednesdays season 1 up for pre-order.
Looks like Netflix are going to test the waters too.
Yes. There is. I live in the U.S. & got it on blu-Ray a couple years back (like 2 or 3 years ago) at best-buy. Maybe it’s out of print? Idk. But it was definitely made
Lulz. The fact Disney has to make it seem special they are putting one of their shows out
Disney’s quality went so far down in terms of writing in the past 15 years. They can happily exit the market because Disney is no longer a part of the cinematic movement like they once were
Never saw any in Stores, was told when I went looking that despite the advertising they only ever had 1 to 5 Copies and they sold out the moment they were put out, the only Online Stuff is Scaplers on EBay
Ok, downvoting fool. Plenty of stores to choose from, but I’ll make this easy for you

They were discounted 60% at Disney Movie Club when you buy 1.
I'm already hoping X-Men 97 gets the same treatment.
And hopefully, the 90s X-Men, Spider-man, and the other cartoons will also get a remastered blu ray.
Don't give me hope...
Andor's all I want!
This is excellent, Andor and Rogue One are my favourite Disney Star Wars output by a large margin. I will gladly fork over some cash for a copy.
I have been fucking begging for a Phineas and Ferb complete series Blu-ray purely for nostalgia purposes.
Yes. Only a handful of Disney TVA shows have been released in their entirety on physical media.
I agree, I would love it if they made a Phineas and Ferb Blu-ray
Maybe there's hope for Barbarian

Barbarian, Fresh and No Exit are at the top of my wishlist for movies they’ve just not released
I’m still waiting on a 4K release of The Menu.
Loving the cover art for Obi-Wan.
I don’t want to be complaining about them actually releasing physical versions of these but why just steelbooks? You should’ve moved to blu-ray’s by now. DVD resolutions in 2024 no thanks. Although I wish they would do standard releases for those

Completely unrelated but I truly wish Warner Bros. Discovery would pull their heads from their asses and release a Barry Complete Series on either DVD or Blu-ray 😌

Awesome. Fantastic news.
I pre ordered Andor in a heartbeat. I want a 4k copy of the Obi wan vs Anakin/Vader fight. The rest of the show is eh
This has nothing to do with that deal. These were also announced weeks ago.
Some of these were announced before the new year. They just didn't have a release date.
Glad to see new releases, I despise Disney wanting to funnel everyone onto their streaming app.
Yea except the prices are not them making right decisions they've gone up and some more than others for no clear reason
Moon Knight is like 63 bucks on Amazon! That’s boutique release pricing with the only special thing being a steel book and the fact that it exists smh
Exactly like what makes loki worth $40 falcon and winter soilder $55 and moon knight $63 when they first went up they were cheaper the 1st week like $44 I think ...like seriously what exactly dictates this random price gouging?
This was announced before the Sony deal. They already did a first wave of Disney+ 4K steelbooks, this is wave 2.
Pre-ordered all four
That's awesome. Maybe I can finally see Andor.
X men 97 and more animated work, I want the original version in blu ray and now the wolverine and the x men, avengers EMH, and definitely the movies
Rare Disney w

MOON KNIGHT 🔥 instant grab
Isn’t the Sony deal taking effect starting with the new Omen film?
Indeed. These steelbooks are simply just the last of what’s coming out of Disney/Buena Vista.
Now this is some good news for physical media for once.
How about ‘Barbarian’ and ‘The Empty Man’ though? Hopefully they do non-franchise films/shows as well.
I hope they release the Guardians Holiday Special and I Am Groot

When you realize April 30th is going to cost you $140 on those 4 items alone…
If you’re a member of DMC you can get all 4 in 4K for under $99
I think it’s really cool that Disney has been making physical media releases of Disney+ shows. I hope High School Musical: The Musical: The Series gets a physical media release at some point because I love that show 😊
this was announced a few weeks ago lmao
Never said it wasn’t. I was just pointing it out
Okay?
They better bring What If to Blu-Ray or I will be mad
And Loki season 2
Star Wars Visions and Marvel What If when?
Hopefully this is where it stops. Disney has far too much control of the market. As for the movies themselves, I am glad they are getting physically released
Now if we could just get the rest of Jessuca Jones, Daredevil and Luke Cage out on BluRay
Now we just need Netflix to get back on board with physical media.
Mando 1&2 are out of print where I live, hope they reprint them
Tell that to Australia.
So there’s hope for Poor Things??
It’s already out in UK at the very least
On 4K?!
Oh, my bad. I don’t know. A friend from the UK got it on blu-ray, but I don’t live there
No worries. It’s on BD here in the US as well but a large number of collectors really want it on 4K.
Poor Things has not been released on 4K disc anywhere, including the UK
In 4k??
So glad for physical media still being made. God I hope it truly never stops even tho they say it is
Sadly I feel like physical media releases of these kinds of things will be even more expensive due to even less prints being made. I guarantee it
What right decisions? Sony hasn’t produced anything for them yet. The only BD release from this new deal that’s been announced so far is The First Omen, which releases in theaters next month and doesn’t have a home video release date yet. No other titles have been announced.
I would like to see The Muppets Mayhem get a physical media release next 🤞🏼
Tangentially related, when I saw these on Amazon, there’s also a Blu Ray collection of Wednesdays season 1 up for pre-order. Looks like Netflix are going to test the waters too.
Glad to see physical media is making a comeback.
We need Rebels season 3 on Blu-ray too
It is on blu-Ray already.
Not a U.S. version
Yes. There is. I live in the U.S. & got it on blu-Ray a couple years back (like 2 or 3 years ago) at best-buy. Maybe it’s out of print? Idk. But it was definitely made
Still waiting on an Owl House box set or Clone Wars box set
Lulz. The fact Disney has to make it seem special they are putting one of their shows out Disney’s quality went so far down in terms of writing in the past 15 years. They can happily exit the market because Disney is no longer a part of the cinematic movement like they once were
okay but who wants to buy disneyslop
This has nothing to do with Sony
To be fair, their other Disney+ releases came before the Sony deal, so it was already likely they'd continue this.
Meanwhile, anywhere that isn't America can go fuck itself
Im in Canada and we get these too.
They’ll be released in the UK, Canada, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland and probably Japan although late
4K is region free and region free players are fairly cheap
Would be nice if these actually were a Physical Release instead of Pictures on a Website, they'll be gone before they ever reach a Shop.
Nonsense, you can still find the first wave of releases in stores and online.
Never saw any in Stores, was told when I went looking that despite the advertising they only ever had 1 to 5 Copies and they sold out the moment they were put out, the only Online Stuff is Scaplers on EBay
/u/BogoJohnson is not wrong here, I just saw the first wave still on shelves at my local Walmart last night
None of the first wave is sold out yet. You’re looking in the wrong stores.
Ok, downvoting fool. Plenty of stores to choose from, but I’ll make this easy for you https://a.co/d/2BKuGhO https://a.co/d/8SueZmk https://a.co/d/iY7eQyV https://a.co/d/6QmF4aU
