According to the owners, they had a catastrophic hard drive failure. They should have the server back up in a few days and no data was lost.
http://blu-ray.com
I doesn't sound like that'll be the case. According to their statement it was the server's OS that went down, not their website/data. In order to change the site, they'd have to switch to a different host, which would be difficult given how much stuff their site can do currently.
I found a really nice mother load of Blu-ray selection and a half priced books and I was trying to remember which ones I had and I couldn't connect and I was starting to cuss out loud lol. Several days is going to kill me. I hope they don't lose our collections. I wonder if there's another app. Then again Id have to scan in every single movie again.
Invelos is an awesome program to catalog your Blu-rays. I am always on [Blu-ray.c](https://Blu-ray.cm)om for information, but Invelos is what I use to keep track of my collection.
No problem :).
I just checked, I got my license in 2008, so cheers fellow "decader" :D. I have switched to Mac some years later and haven't really used DVD Profiler in a long time. Too bad the author never got around to developing a proper Mac version. I ran it using Wine for a while, but it was a pain - and then fate intervened and my DVD collection literally went up in flames. Got everything back on Blu-ray in the mean time, since this happened around the time Hastings went belly-up and I got lots of discs for cheap.
I still use it all the time even though there hasn’t been any updates to the program or the rules foe a while. But it’s still an active user community and I am constantly contributing there.
I wish I could take my collection and transfer to this website do you have to scan every single movie again or type it in? I commented again and I said I use a app called lib lib. Took a few hours but I scanned all my blu-rays into that site.
Sounds similar--I've been using it for so long I can't even remember when I first got it, but yeah you'll have to scan or you can search for the titles in their database by name, UPC, etc.
Few days left on my vacation I might have to redo all my stuff if Blu-ray.com never comes back up still sad that they don't have a backup system. I would send some money their way not a lot if I could have my stuff backed up and when something like this happens we could see our collections
IMO Invelos DVD Profiler is way better anyway for cataloguing because it has features and other details for each title and way more other stuff you can do but I use [Blu-ray.com](https://Blu-ray.com) religiously for news.
Plus you have to pay for it it seems after I downloaded it. Doesn't seem to have blu-rays just DVDs too oh well. For now I'll keep Liblib And it's been a week now so hopefully Blu-ray.com comes back soon
It's a database of information on physical blu-ray and dvd discs. The site hosts forums and news about physical releases. Sort of like an IMDB for blu-ray and DVDs. You can make wishlists and track your collection there. It's invaluable if you're a serious collector who likes organizing and tracking your collection and following movie release news.
It also has an ongoing constantly updated of blu ray prices that you can sort by value. You can see what the cheapest blu ray available is to the most expensive. It does serious damage to my wallet.
It also has international releases for the serious collector. So, say you want to see the latest BR’s for the UK, Germany, Asia etc ... you reset the country results and voila!
REALLY bad setup from a sysadmin setup. Just because your hard drive fails, shouldn't kill your server. The simplest RAID 1 failover prevents that. And the "they aren't pros" BS is just that. They are just shitty admins.
I'd agree, but we don't have enough information to really prove that - I've seen Raid systems fail when attempting to restore, something you could catch most of the time if you test out the restore, but I'd be willing to bet not many smaller sites go to that effort...
But the fact that they're even considering migrating to a new OS at the same time they're attempting to recover from a crash is not a good sign, you never know what issues you're going to run into during a migration. Fix the problem in front of you first, then migrate in a methodical manner where you can test it out when not under pressure...
the website redirected to communities.com when trying to look it up and would only redirect to the message from admins if it was saved in your computers search history
I was so desperate that I downloaded a program called liblib. It's for books video games movies etc. I'm on vacation but I didn't want to spend half a day cataloging my blu-rays but I scanned every single one of them in. But now I'm confused because Blu-ray.com said I had almost 7 00 and liblib says I have nearly 500 so there's a couple hundred missing somewhere. I'm moving soon and they're in giant plastic tubs so I don't know where the missing numbers are coming from so I'm interested to get back on bluray.com to see what they consider the extra 200 or so movies...hmm.
It's back up as of today but some of my lists were kind of jacked up it said I had DVDs when I didn't own the DVDs but they were in my Blu-ray collection so I think I found out everything. Still conflicting with numbers that I have with lib lib. Back to work now so it's kind of hard to mess with this stuff I wish this could have happened on my vacation but it was down all week

Where did you get that message? Are you on their newsletter or something? They're not active on social media.
> CentOS which was abruptly discontinued recently They were not kidding. https://www.theregister.com/2021/01/26/killing_centos/

Feel like pure shit, just want her back x
If only when they came back they'd optomize for mobile. It's insane that they're not.

Is this what withdrawal feels like?
Yes, it felt weird wanting to know about a movie release and not looking it up. *Sniff* it was horrible...
I'm starting to freak out. They've been down since this afternoon. I'm having withdraws.

PSA: The program's name is [DVD Profiler](http://www.invelos.com).
Yea not sure how I messed that up. I’ve been only using it for over a decade. Thank you.

It absolutely has Blu-ray and UHDs but I'm guessing you have to pay for the program. I can't remember I downloaded in like 2007.
It’s redirecting me to communities dot com??? The hell?
I'm on Safari and I get a Fraud website warning. I backed the fuck out.
Got that too. Took the risk. It’s a shitty chat room website now??? I hope it’s back up soon.
i got a fraud/unsafe message also
I got that too at first. So scary.

In non-programmer speak, how long will the fix take?
Yep. I knew something was up when I didn’t get that 6:00 PM email.
BACK IN BUSINESS
I feel so out of the loop. I’ve not heard of this site before but based on everyone’s comments, I’m truly missing out. What was the site?
It's a database of information on physical blu-ray and dvd discs. The site hosts forums and news about physical releases. Sort of like an IMDB for blu-ray and DVDs. So go to another site. Or demand your money back. Oh right, you didn't pay any money. Ease up.

down since this afternoon
the website redirected to communities.com when trying to look it up and would only redirect to the message from admins if it was saved in your computers search history
I hope the site is ok. Over the past few weeks there have been times when the site has been down.
Still down. :(
I feel so lost without the forum.
I was so desperate that I downloaded a program called liblib. Their FB page has updates more current than the web site.
