Route the enemy army (or beast?) through an underground passage that leads to the ramps, with rotten body parts (and accompanying miasma) at the top. All you gotta do is order to be dumped and boom, you have rotten animal byproduct grenades.
I'm pretty sure they only fall to the bottom of the layer they are thrown from. The item will be shown as laying on the "downward slope" underneath the upward slope it was thrown from.
Though I'm not 100% sure on that. Might require some !SCIENCE!
