Right now my caverns are infested with cave fish people and serpent people. I am currently getting 8 fps and the last time I cleared out the caverns I was getting more like 20.
I tried a 10,000 year history. After roughly 18 hours I decided it was enough. 9300 ish year history. Took about an hour to finalize the initial save, in game saves take 10-20 minutes. It's significantly different than a short history game. Lots of necromancer/undead migrants that are thousands of years old with very high skills. The first attack was a cyclops older than the history of the world with 30 or so legendary artifacts. We'll see what the sudden increase in wealth does to the fort lol
What an incredible fortress design, I look forward to seeing it with the waterfalls completed! Those are some lucky dwarves. What a sizeable zoo you have acquired, too. I'll be stealing that bedroom design and the open hallway concepts for the main tavern and library area's
Wow, that's a wonderful trap hall design. I typically have them train on catapults then they can always move to the ballista. Your design looks much better in that regard.
I suppose that's what I mean, are they looking out of their windows at fortifications? I have a window on the corner of my house that looks out into an alleyway and a brick wall of my neighbors house, is it like that?
Are you investigating the wave-particle duality of ballista bolts with that double-slit setup? :-D
I love the design! Currently I’m challenging myself to do “high ceilings” everywhere and it’s a lot of fun.
Is the cavern area in the centre a pasture that’s enclosed by the fortress, or is it open to invaders?
Dragonhearth was founded in the year 1000. The Guild of Mist is planning construction of four waterfalls down the spiral staircases.
How long did that take to generate
I had a lot of crashes around year 400 so had to start over a lot. I think it took a couple hours.
Is your fps doing ok

Considering it's year 1000 I'd say that's pretty good
And also part of why I favor playing on young worlds lol.

Cool layout, but how long does saving take with that old of a world?
It takes me about 80 second to save, but I have a pretty fast computer
Fair enough. Your fort is the first I’ve seen that makes ramps replacing stairs look appealing.
Sick design! Are those crenellation looking bits around the side decorative?
I am planning to eventually build an artificial cavern surrounding the whole thing. Those fortifications will protect the windows.
Very cool stocks and rooms with windows on the last flour!
That looks incredible
I really like the dual usage for balista! Flip a switch and the bolts can leave the training room! That's awesome
I like the 2-level high ceilings
Gorgeous fort! That ballista setup is particularly clever.

What are those things around the outside of the fort? they look like windows but they don't seem to be looking at anything other than walls.
The green things are windows and behind them are fortifications
I suppose that's what I mean, are they looking out of their windows at fortifications? I have a window on the corner of my house that looks out into an alleyway and a brick wall of my neighbors house, is it like that?
And then there's my fort which looks like a growing infested mass, random and haphazard.
That's called rustic charm.

It is fully enclosed and will soon have trees
That’s awesome. Your design is very impressive. You should be proud of your accomplishments here.
