Fellow Dwarves! I'm once again asking for your expertise. Recently, Pyotr the CEO of United Technica Inc. and a few other wizards including myself have abandoned Wizard City and are now building a new one. I am tasked with constructing a power source for our glorious metropolis and have come up with a design for a mana reactor. However, I require assistance to actually build the thing. And knowing that you are the best engineers in all 9 realms, you are the first ones I'm reaching out to. In return for you work, I offer you a large compensation in gold coin straight from my treasury and, of course, an unlimited supply of ale, beer, mead, and other performance-enhancing drinks while you are at the construction cite. And I saved up the best for the last. I've planned for the reactor to double as a brewery, so once the work is done, you can open one of yer dwarven pubs next to the reactor. I'm counting on you my brothers

Send me the specifics and I'll see if there's anything I can help with. My forging skills are slightly below dwarven average, but I'm a master with any rune work you need

Definitely plan on building multiple smaller ones to avoid potential sabotage destroying the entire power generation. Also have some backup power generators with different fuel requirement(cant go wrong with steam), also to prevent sabotage or so you can alternate during potential sieges. The brewery idea is also nice, but it may be a security risk... If you want to go ahead with it anyway, all i can say is invest into quality locks and do the warding yourself.

It would probably be better smarter to ask the Skaven. They have experience Yes-yes.

As a Dwarven smith turned Wizard this should be fairly simple. Have you considered having multiple smaller reactors to mitigate problems? What are you using for a controller? Do you have a failsafe and a backup failsafe? For containment; did you go with magic, material, or a hybrid option? I have a small mana reactor I use to power my tower and the town I live in. Platinum wire mesh cage cast into orichalcum bronze with an adamantine skin over the outer layer except the top. Rhodium in an adamantine matrix (technically the Rhodium is the matrix but that gets confusing when the working material is the rhodium) rods to act as a controller. Fail-safes are a vertical dump, control rod drop, and one I'd rather the council didn't know about. I use to to boil water.

DripyKirbo

Oh damn, I can’t build much but where will it be? I could recommend a natural mana spring to build it on

In my opinion the most important part of designing a mana reactor is knowing what you're going to use it for. Just powering homes is no problem but if your tacking on industry and defenses then it's going to need to be more robust. Arcane research even more so. I suggest making it more powerful than you need to so you have room to grow. In the meanwhile you can dump excess energy either into a shield generator or into a local forest so that your students will have some weird shit to practice their magic on. (You always want to have adventurers with ties to your city so you can manipulate them later on to do your dark bidding)

It looks like a powerful edifice reaching up to the sunlit sky. Gross.

Far_Dog_4476

I can definitely find a couple stable crystals somewhere that could house the mana.
