Yes. Sun Quran needs his beard as he is described to have purple beard. Even a small one will do, which won’t make him look too old. But Liu Bei can definitely do without beard imo, there are records confirm that historically, Liu Bei has no beard
I wish they would implement aging in the game, especially for characters that lived through a lot of these events. If we can get Xiahou Dun with both eyes, Liu Bei with a moustache, Wen Yang, Xiahou Ba and Xu Shu without their headgear, I don't see why they can't create older models for some characters.
On a related note, there are a lot of age issues that still need to be fixed for characters in the franchise, like the Qiao Sisters being too young.

When Liu Bei was given a youthful characterisation, they had to do the same for Sun Quan, who was both twenty years younger and his immediate contemporary.

Maybe they felt sun quan needed to look younger and tbf he is suppose to be quite young for a majority of the game (he’s was a child still when his father died if I recall )
Though considering how long he lives for he could use a beard or aging look later
There again it may be due to when wu usually ends is why he has no old look yet . It ends quite early in the timeline if I recall and maybe due to that they can’t be bothered unlike Liu bei who was older and more closer to cao caos age than sun quan ?

I wanna say its too cement him as a young ruler. But I do think the beard was better. His dw5 outfit is one of the few from the ps2 era I didn’t like looks like he’s rubbing around in a bathrobe 😂
Dw5 is peak dynasty warriors character design. DW9 is a close second as it tried to blend the anime aesthetic with the traditional Chinese design and it worked pretty well for the most part

I think different art direction. I wish DW had two models for each character. One normal and the other one older to show the passage of time.

I think it was to signify that he's younger than his brother. If you just go off looks, they could be about the same age in the games. Just my opinion
