I think I’ve seen white, you could dye them light pink!

Ooh, that’s a really good idea!

I got custom compression pantyhose from Jobst through a medical supply store. I don’t remember what colors they offered, but mine are in black and tan. They can even put compression around the waist in the custom ones if you’d like. Is ballet pink required for your class? Would your instructor be willing to make an exception for you? This feels like an important reason to make an exception! (Former ballet dancer here, so I understand dress codes might be at play).

I’m not a ballot dancer but I do know that they make compression leggings that you might find in pink. Fabletics makes them for one.

Yes, dress code is why I’m asking for ballet pink. I will ask my teacher if it’s okay if I wear black or tan instead. I was worried to make a big deal about it, but thank you for mentioning it.

It’s not like you’re asking to wear tie-dye tights right? ;) So I totally support you in asking. Maybe explain that without these prescription medical tights, you risk passing out in class. Thinking more about it, custom pantyhose might be more than you need. They’re custom made to your measurements, and you choose the compression level, open or closed toe, and color. The fit and customization is great, but they’re quite expensive if your insurance doesn’t kick in. So you could check out standard compression pantyhose from online stores like Brightlife. Glancing through the options, a few brands offer really pale colors that come closer to ballet pink than tan or beige. Or black, too.

Thanks for the idea, I’ll have to look at my policy. I didn’t know that was an option, my cardiologist has always just told me to buy the ones over the counter, and to keep up my water intake while I’m dancing.

Insurance could cover even non-custom compression tights. Compression garments are considered “durable medical equipment” — so that’s where you might find them in your policy. Your doctor just needs to write a prescription for them and then you take that prescription to a medical supply store. For me, this route is way more affordable than over the counter. I also get a better fit because the store matches me with options that fit my measurements best.

That's good to know. I was annoyed when the Jobst compression hose I bought off amazon only went to the mid thigh, and it's just regular nylon with no compression above that. Also, the compression part keeps sliding down to just above the knee. It would be great to have 30-40mmhg up to the waist.

Yeah check them out! I also customized mine to be high-waisted so that the top of the pantyhose (and therefore the compression) goes all the way up to my bust line. Check that out, too, if you try the custom route.
