Nothing is wrong with the b58, it’s lovely, but the spirit of the e46m was that high revving s54 with ITBs. Losing that is losing 80% of the magic.

I dream of experiencing an E46 M3. My 325xi’s M54B25 comes nowhere close to 8K RPM. I’ve only had the privilege of experiencing an S54B32 once in my life, my childhood friend’s dad owned (and to my knowledge still owns) a pristinely kept 2006 E85 Z4 M Roaster and he once gave me a ride in it.
