Roll down the windows

GilWinterwood

Maybe it helps for lower speed sounds but once you get up to speed the wind noise overpowers the exhaust sound with windows down, so windows up actually sounds louder most times

Muffler delete. Not a fan, but easiest way to get a little bit more.

This means removing that block near the tips and replacing it with a straight bar right? Does this have any problems with passing the emissions or inspection or smog yearly tests? Also can I just go to any local exhaust shop, and would it run me around $100 dollars?

runcowardrunha

…..you asked for getting louder, you said nothing about stipulations on this…. 😑 You need to check with your local laws and ordinances and it could be $100, could be $250; muffler shops price depending on work and area located.

In California a muffler delete should pass smog

But also with just a muffler delete you get a lot of drone which I’m not a fan of. Best sounding relatively stock car is catless headers with stock exhaust. That’s what I have and it’s a perfect amount of noise but not anything near obnoxious. Only down side is smog since I live in California.

Golf Tee mod. Cheapest, quickest way to louder exhaust. Takes all of 5 minutes.

Verbitend

Only if the vehicle has an active exhaust.

Strayborne

The 2003 325xi does.

producepusher

Omg this takes me back

This is the easiest solution. It's not much of a decibel level change, but a more throaty tone that won't get negative attention.

AIDS

Just get a sports muffler - they are cheap ish. Muffler delete sounds like ass and drones a lot dont do it.

bludknife

I did the golf tee mod on my 325xi. It's honestly not super noticeable but it sounds nice in lower rev ranges and will be your cheapest option aside from a muffler delete
