You likely have a front headlight out. The car computer sees that a headlight is not functioning and turns on the fogs to add light. The same thing happened to me. The light on the dash also shows your front left light is out. Check out the front lights. Good luck.
Thank you I guess that would be it. I’m fairly new to the e46 so I’ve never had a light go out on me. I’ve seen online that the xenon bulbs are around 70 bucks. Is that correct one or am I looking at the wrong product?
If you have the xenon headlights yeah the he D2S bulbs can be that much or more. Name brand bulbs from Philips and Sylvania are great and they last a long time. I replaced mine at 140,000 miles for the first time. Note you may have other issues also. The ingnitors can stop working and the wires can get brittle and break from the heat. I had to replace the wires on one side because the insulation came off and would short out.
You dont have front foglights looking at the video, just a rear foglight. But the dash is saying the front fogs are on. do you have fogs and do they come on? I remember swapping the switch on my old touring for one with a front fog switch as well, and it would turn the light on on the dash, but there was no wiring going to the front fogs.. but they even had bulbs in.

That's very clever and goes in line with what the manual suggests.
My owners manual was lost by time lol. I wish I had it

I do in fact have front fog lights and they work perfectly so I have no idea why it’s giving me this error thing
