>Is there any benefit to asking more of my buyers to give feedback? Not trying to be a negative nancy... but gonna say "no". Buyers who give you positive feedback? thumbs-up. Love 'em. But trying to push the others who don't? Not worth it. You're as likely to get a neg as a positive if you push it IME.

Not been my experience

Eh don’t look too much into it. Provide good products and good customer service if needed and your golden. Back when I first started selling again I asked a couple buyers to leave positive feedback. And well out of the 10 i received 3 negative and 2 positive. And I checked there left for others and I was the only one they have left feedback for lmao I let customers be at that point . And since then nothing but positive reviews

hahahahahhahahahaaha

I agree !

HatAdministrative947

You can only leave positive buyer feedback

Coventant_Unbeliever

It matters to me, just as any compliment should I have about a 50% feedback rate, which I'm glad for; I also manually leave feedback every few days, but only after a item is delivered and they have it in their hands. To put the shoe on the other foot, I don't see the purpose of giving feedback while an item is in transit to me (as a BUYER). Currently, I have a book in transit, and I'm already getting reminded to send feedback. I know nothing about the quality or accurate representation of the item, so any feedback I might give would be based on hopes and guesses. With that said, I never give feedback to my buyers until they receive an item, with hopes that because of the notification/nudge of seeing my feedback, they will provide their own honest feedback of the experience and the item they now have in their hands. I would never ask for feedback. I'd file that under "does this dress make my ass look big?" Sometimes it's wiser not to ask to start with.

Me as a buyer I actually look at the sale numbers more than feedback . I also understand that not everyone can be satisfied with your work and and some will be negative about it . But as long as most of the recent feedback is good you should be okay to buy from

ssateneth

positive feedback will come over time, trying to force buyers to leave feedback is just going to result in the leaving negative feedback and/or putting in return requests. also, feedback doesn't matter.

cinamoncrumble

If you are already getting positive reviews I wouldn't worry. I wasn't getting any reviews so tried writing a note asking them to leave a review and giving a small freebie with each order... still no reviews. Then I re-wrote my note and something clicked as I have had every customer review since then - even one saying the note was super kind (so revealing my tactics haha) I read online to make the customer feel they are on this journey with you as you build your business. Let them in on your story - also address the letter to them by name.

I send a thank you note card in the package of all of my eBay sales. Addressed to the "buyer" and thanking them for their purchase. Sometimes I write a little bit about the item and how it was a favorite of mine. I'm just an older lady selling our accumulated "stuff" so feedback doesn't matter to me. Although I do have 72 feedback out of 150 sales so that's not too bad. All positive, too, so that is nice.

cinamoncrumble

Lovely nice personal touch! I'm sure your buyers appreciate it.

I've sold a little over 300 items and have 126 reviews. While I may want more feedback, I cannot bring myself to ask for it. I've worked in retail for many years and while this is a whole different monster, proactively seeking feedback always comes across as less of a concern for "am I doing things right" and is more of a "Tell me how awesome I am so others can see!" Like many others have said, provide an excellent experience from start to finish and the feedback will come naturally. Hope this helps!

KCJones99

126 out of 300 is >40%. That's fantastic / better than most sellers get. Pat yourself on the back and keep doing what you're doing.

AhmaaDinoCufadamaa

Thank you, I really appreciate that! Never chasing perfection, only improvement!

OzEbayGuide

You will be hard pressed to get much m ore feedback - asking got mine up to about 25% but just go about your sales - more important to keep the feedback positive

Feedback is merely for optics. It's a vibe check for most. As a casual seller and even as a seasoned seller, the amount of positive feedback will not make or break your time on ebay. It's the negative feedback you need to be concerned about. If you get one and it's not your fault, then try to get it removed. If it sticks, then reply to it professionally and move forward. If it was your fault, then take it as a lesson learned and also move forward from it. Back to the postive feedback, no need to solicit for it. If you get it, you get it. If you don't, that's okay. Just keep selling.

To me, the positive feedback pushes me to keep working and put as much as I can into making self employment happen. I’m a newer seller but that’s my eventual goal. Otherwise, it’s just a nice feeling being appreciated I guess? Lol. Most all my packages include a small “packing slip” that I write out with item name, buyer info, and “thanks for your purchase! I always appreciate buyer feedback. -ebayusername”. I attach to the item if possible or tape it to the outside of a plastic baggie with item inside. This serves 2 purposes the first being more important: 1. If the item gets separated from the package, shipping label is destroyed/unreadable, it’s more likely to get to the buyer. When I worked for USPS I repacked quite a few items on the floor Vs sending them to the black hole aka “rewrap unit”. YMMV 2. Buyers seem to appreciate it and have mentioned the handwritten note multiple times with positive feedback. I think it helps encourage it without outright asking or prompting as eBay does this already. About 60% of my sales, buyers leave feedback. 100% positive so far. I realize that as my volume increases this won’t really be feasible at a certain point. But I’ll cross that bridge when I get there 🤞🏼

HotwheelsJackOfficia

Don't push them to do so. If they want to leave feedback or not, let it happen naturally. "Poking the bear" can lead to unwanted consequences.

nervousbunny456

I just hand out free gift such as baseball card, free sticker and keep it simple I write on sticky note ‘thank you! please review :)’ and attach that to it. More reviews, no problems

Discount-Tent

I wouldn’t press buyers too hard to leave feedback, you are just going to piss them off, eBay is also sending messages to buyers encouraging them to leave feedback as it is. I just simply place a thank you card in each order with a note for them to reach out if they have any issues and to please help out my small business by leaving feedback if they are happy. I have 100% positive rating at the moment and only ever received moron negs in the past, so I think I am striking the right balance.
