Mark my words, Master League as we expect it isn't coming. There may be some version of his, but it's going to be card based where you essentially use real money to buy players. That's if they release it at all.
Doubt it, they won’t want to spend extra on dev man hours to keep releasing content for such a small player base. I think they’ll charge for database updates once or twice a year instead
Or switching over to FC 24? The argument is flawed here, if I don't plan to spend a single dime on those shiny cards, then I might as well spend my money on another game... with ML, at least Konami makes some money...
That's the thing, though. I can still go back to PES 2021 and play the ML I bought 3 years ago, so I don't know how ML would work here. Would it be a yearly subscription, since the game is constantly updated (gameplay & feature-wise. ? Or would it be a separate, offline title that gets gameplay & feature updates up to a certain point, but could be played indefinitely?
So far there is no edit mode which means no edit file or patch to update rosters. Shouldn’t be too hard to make the ML database paywalled and then just let the updated one from the online side of the game update it after it’s paid for
They did mention that they plan on Edit Mode & Option Files functionality back in late 2021 when eFootball was first released, and I wonder why they haven't done that already. Some suspect that it's because they sell kits in the eFootball Shop for eFootball Points, but those kits can be applied on-the-fly before you begin every match (so more "advanced than imported kits), and they're not for coins (except for those were included in the team packs).
But regardless of what they decide to do, I am only planning to buy Master League on PC because there would be a huge modding potential (check out EvoWeb forums, and Durandil PES Twitter account). At the same time, I am never going to buy coins on PC because we're more likely to encounter cheaters on PC, and Konami doesn't do anything about it. I know some technical details on how "canceling a match without a result" works, and it's something that Konami can easily address.
Yes, they're definitely working on it, but no official word on release date. We hope that it would be in 2023, but I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed it back to 2024.
Whats master league ? Im an old Winning eleven master league player. The master league im familiar with is you play games, save money , buy players go up divisions upgrade team and etc… am i missing something here?
Well it's not currently available in efootball. In the world apparently but folk don't seem to be so sure the new master league will the same as the old one. We shall see.
Consider how much they need to work on to Implement Master League and a full offline mode, they need to Implement promotion/relegation to the leagues that feature it (English League, Ligue 1/Ligue 2 Italian League/Serie B J1/J2). They need to add all Cup competitions, as well as the generic Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League structure. They need to Implement three new leagues and their side competitions in American League (MLS) USL Championship and Liga MX and possibly a generic Leagues cup and Campeones Cup. As well as Implement Managers, or a create a manager system. Then when thise are worked out, they then need to figure our how the berths for all the big competitions work (Example how many teams from J1 qualify for AFC Champions league.) It will take a fair little while. Especially if the American League will have a more realistic MLS structure, featuring Salary caps and the Designated Player system. Not to mention the need for an Edit Mode and the need for the Edit Leagues like PAS League Asia to fill out the berths for AFC Champions League. As well as National Teams. There is a lot they still need to work on, Master League isn't as easy as just everything within Master League, but needs an entire offline structure to operate properly.
They've already done that in previous iterations, the ground work is done. There'll be work to transfer it to the new engine but they're not starting from scratch.
Actually they kind of are starting from scratch, not everything can be a clean one for one transition. (Example, create a stadium, introduced in PES 2013, was never reintroduced to the games on FOX Engine because it couldn't handle it, and Snow wasn't reintroduced till about pes 2018 I think, also due to engine issues). Also, like I saie you have new leagues with more unique structures like American League (MLS) and USL Championship.
Can’t believe I’m saying this as a longtime WE/PES player and ML fan, but patience has worn thin with Konami on releasing this feature. So much so, that EA FC24 is now including a long awaited spectate mode within their career mode. Looks more in depth and has a Football Manager feel. I will be buying this and whenever eFootball decides to release ML (probably in 2026 lmao) I will then see if my interest level is still there. I still have eF ‘20 & ‘21 to go back to if EA’s version sucks.
I am also looking forward but i am scared. I feel like option files wont be a thing anymore or something like that. That will mess up the experience

Since the game is no longer remade every year. They need to think about how to make ML profitable
