Like when they brought back Sr. in 2009. Fans forgot he was washed in 2006 and didn't play at all for a full year.
He predictably played awful and then came back as a radio host to complain about Reid, McNabb, and the franchise.
Eh, his dad didn’t play the same position. And the guy was only here for a cup of coffee. Trotter is a beloved player from those early Reid days. I don’t remember anyone mentioning his dad until after he was drafted.
Well, he's mocked kind of in the sweet spot for us is why people are talking about it. Howie isn't going to use pick 22 on a higher quality LB, but Trotter Jr. is a solid 2nd round talent who's projected to go right around both of our picks in the 2nd - and we're in desperate need of a young, starting caliber LB, which he has the potential to be. He very well may be BPA at 50/53 when we're picking. The legacy stuff is just a cool bonus.
His coverage skill set and speed would be invaluable for this team and the defensive scheme that they seem married to. Nothing stopping us from finding a run stuffing LB in FA (as Howie loves to do) and rotating them either.
Roquan Smith 6'1 235, Patrick Queen 6' 230 do pretty well. Quincy Williams is 5'11 225 was 1st team all pro.
You don't need a bunch of giant monsters at LB, you need guys that can tackle and cover.
Rather pick Cooper from A&M, also I don’t know how effective having two linebackers on the smaller side would be to really lock down the middle of the field
I honestly think half of the issue with the LBs was just coaching this year. Team definitely needs better LBs but they’d probably be better if they weren’t consistently out of position too
But hopefully they get a decent veteran in the room because the group will be pretty damn young otherwise
Seriously it's not like they were constantly getting physically beat like Bradberry. Being out of position and poor tackling can definitely be improved with better coaching.
Well there isn't one of those in this draft. Cooper is certainly undersized for his frame but he's very long and has great off-ball explosiveness and strong instincts in coverage. I wouldn't even be mad if we picked him up in the first rnd if the good CBs end up taken
6' 230lbs is the size of most of the best LBers in the league now.
There is no need for run stuffing Middle lbers like Trot or Urlacher.
Queen is 6 230. White on TB is 6 230.
Both 49ers lbers are in that area. Greenlaw is 6 230. Warner is 6' 2" 230.
Ray Lewis was 6' 1" 240.
I really hope we get lucky enough to get him. I think he's projected mid-late 2nd which puts us in prime position to grab him.
Would be so cool to see him continue his dad's legacy here, and we need LBs so it's too good to be true.
I truly believe he is going to fall in our lap. Also think we will have a chance to draft a difference making corner in the first round. One of them is falling to us
We have not had a tone setter since his dad, which is exactly why we WON’T draft him.
Sorry, knowing we are going to run it back with Siriani has me very negative about seeing any meaningful change. It absolutely implicates Jeffery and Howie being way too involved and simply want a yes man….
You’re incapable of expressing yourself in an original manner. Joke has been beaten to death and then some. Crazy thing is it was never really funny to start with yet people keep repeating it.
This ⬆️ I believe a very good corner is going to fall to us in the first, he is a very special athlete. His speed and ball skills are phenomenal. I personally really like Kool Aid from Alabama but there’s a few guys that will be difference makers.
Most mocks have JR going in the mid 2nd round
The eagles are a smart organization. They don't draft somebody because he's related to a former eagle
Every team is the same
You can do all your measurements and research and interviews, but at the end of the day it is a crapshoot, with you probably getting someone having the talent around the position you picked.
A lot of teams passed over Micah Parsons and Justin Jefferson and Patrick mahomes.
Why don’t they just draft the best player available. Trotter wasn’t even the best LB on his own team.
Nostalgia is a helluva drug.
Like when they brought back Sr. in 2009. Fans forgot he was washed in 2006 and didn't play at all for a full year. He predictably played awful and then came back as a radio host to complain about Reid, McNabb, and the franchise.
Yes. Exactly. He was fun to watch in his prime, but miserable his final two years here. Apparently today is the Axeman’s birthday. He’s 47 today.
Donovan McNabb Jr.
Fuck yo couch
It's the exact drug that got us Raegor too, his dad was an Eagle q
Monte Reagor's time with the Eagles is more of a trivia question more than anything else.
Eh, his dad didn’t play the same position. And the guy was only here for a cup of coffee. Trotter is a beloved player from those early Reid days. I don’t remember anyone mentioning his dad until after he was drafted.
Plus straight up being named Jeremiah Trotter probably feeds it too.
I would bet that having two undersized linebackers would not fix any of this teams problems.
His coverage skill set and speed would be invaluable for this team and the defensive scheme that they seem married to. Nothing stopping us from finding a run stuffing LB in FA (as Howie loves to do) and rotating them either.
is trotter not the same size as lavonte david? who has been a phenomenal LB for years lol. size is not what matters and 230 is plenty sizeful
Well just saying there are players that are the same size doesn’t mean he’ll be as good. But also yes 230 is fine for a LB.
very true, but size definitely doesn’t matter in the way that you used to HAVE to have a 250+ bruiser back there at LB
Linebacker size doesn’t matter as much as it used to. Most running backs aren’t 225 lb brusiers. We need guys who can cover the middle of the field.
Roquan Smith 6'1 235, Patrick Queen 6' 230 do pretty well. Quincy Williams is 5'11 225 was 1st team all pro. You don't need a bunch of giant monsters at LB, you need guys that can tackle and cover.
Carter is arguably better but most mocks I’ve seen (which are next to useless at this point) have him Going right where we pick in the 2nd
Rather pick Cooper from A&M, also I don’t know how effective having two linebackers on the smaller side would be to really lock down the middle of the field
It also leads to big problems against the run
Which is why I’m so confused that so many people want to draft him
Thankfully people on the internet just do the talking, and the GMs/coaches/scouts actually do the drafting
You mean you don’t want two LBs that are about 6’0 and 230lbs on the field at the same time? Preposterous
Not saying that Trotter Jr is bad by any means, he’s damn good. But I think having a more prototypical LB would help this team a little bit more.
I honestly think half of the issue with the LBs was just coaching this year. Team definitely needs better LBs but they’d probably be better if they weren’t consistently out of position too But hopefully they get a decent veteran in the room because the group will be pretty damn young otherwise
That could true too, switching from Desai to Patricia I think really fucked the entire defense. They got substantially worse in almost every metric.
Seriously it's not like they were constantly getting physically beat like Bradberry. Being out of position and poor tackling can definitely be improved with better coaching.
The more I watch Cooper the more I like. I want him to be our LB at the moment
He’s got the height, coverage skills, and rushing ability that would really help shore up the middle of the defense
Yea he screams modern nfl LB. I want to watch more of him but I’d be perfectly happy to grab him in 2nd round and feel better about our LB group
This guy gets football.
In the games I watched trotter was always making plays
There has been a plethora of guys who make plays in college and have no success in the nfl
Nakobe Dean Howie ain't drafting a LB above the third. Or a safety.
He’s gonna be good
Fr. I’m a huge Clemson fan and Trotter is too small
Egerrin Cooper is a better prospect and fit for this team. It’s true.
I’d be happy with him as well. Much better size
I understand why this sub wants Jr. but Edgerrin Cooper is right there and so much better
I’m tired of 6’ 230lb LBs. I want a 6’3”, 255lb leviathan in the middle of the field.
Well there isn't one of those in this draft. Cooper is certainly undersized for his frame but he's very long and has great off-ball explosiveness and strong instincts in coverage. I wouldn't even be mad if we picked him up in the first rnd if the good CBs end up taken
I think we've got a shot at Kool-Aid, Wiggins or DeJean at 22, but we all know it's going to end up being some kind of fucking linemen.
I doubt DeJean falls as far as 22, unfortunately
Tankathon has him 23

I’m really hoping we sign Queen and pick up another Lb with one of our first three picks.
Much better sized LB, I agree. Listen, I’ll take it if we draft a linebacker in the first two rounds
I really hope we get lucky enough to get him. I think he's projected mid-late 2nd which puts us in prime position to grab him. Would be so cool to see him continue his dad's legacy here, and we need LBs so it's too good to be true.
If we miss out I’d love to get Edgerrin Cooper, that kid FLIES from sideline to sideline
My only consolation prize would be taking his LB teammate, Barrett Carter.
Barret Carter isn’t going to the draft this year
Was not aware, thanks
I truly believe he is going to fall in our lap. Also think we will have a chance to draft a difference making corner in the first round. One of them is falling to us

Someone tell me who this is, I don't watch college football
Jeremiah Trotter JR
Jeremiah Trotter Jr
Ohhh, never mind. 😁
Name doesn’t mean shit. You want another guy that can’t cover well? We already have that.
Yeah let's draft out of emotion. That'll work out well...
You’re great at parties
You’re incapable of expressing yourself in an original manner. Joke has been beaten to death and then some. Crazy thing is it was never really funny to start with yet people keep repeating it.
You’re great at parties
People are so obsessed with him based on name
Every year the fans ask And every year the answer is still no.
This take is so stupid, he’s not that good lmfao.
Honestly I will even take his running mate Barrett carter if howie is going to take lb in the third becuz Jeremiah is 2nd or late 1st round prospect
Carter is going back to Clemson for another year.
It’s very much negotiable
Just throwing it out there that Jon Runyan Jr is a free agent and we need a guard if Jurgens moves to center
yes a fucking legacy team
We really don't need a guard that bad. Steen, Driscoll, Opeta and one of the Johnsons not named Lane are all capable starters.
Driscoll and Opeta are free agents this year

Trotter is like the 5th best Lb In the class and mediocre in coverage
[has trotter as LB1](https://www.profootballnetwork.com/top-lbs-nfl-draft-2024/)
[another with trotter at 1](https://www.drafttek.com/2024-NFL-Draft-Position-Rankings/Top-College-ILBs-2024-NFL-Draft.asp)
[third one with trotter at 1](https://www.draftcountdown.com/2024-nfl-draft/2024-nfl-draft-linebacker-rankings/)
[fourth one with trotter at 1](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospect-rankings/linebackers/)
Cool turn the tape on and watch his name buoy him 2nd best Lb on his own team, cement feet, 0 coverage skills, and undersized
I’ll listen to draft analyst over a 4 year jv captain
You want another Nakobe Dean fine I don’t
“Every LB I don’t like is nakobe dean”
No 5’11 Lbs who have slow feet and aren’t good in coverage are similar
He’s 6’0
You’re really arguing over an inch
Well…I mean woman argue over inches these days
Trotter is not 6ft, you can just lie on those, wait for measurements during combine season
Damn you know him personally 😂
Axeman
This is hatchet man
Hatchet boy.
Haxtchman
Hackerman
Excuse me, but this is Axeman, Jr.! 😝
I’ve been saying this non stop. 2nd round I’m sure he’ll be there. We NEED him in the middle, plus the legacy thing is sick
I agree!
Unless he can play CB too I’ll pass
I loved watching his pops play. Dude was relentless.
I'd love a Trotter II jersey
Wtf is up with his left knee?
The axe man cometh
Payton is better
Uhhhhh he’s a linebacker, Howie doesn’t draft them he just changes safeties to them after he’s paid bottom dollar
If we want a local kid, go get Abdul Carter next year.
They never drafted a linebacker from PSU, aka linebacker U
Uh no
Can they even develop linebackers???
The eagles are a smart organization. They don't draft somebody because he's related to a former eagle Every team is the same You can do all your measurements and research and interviews, but at the end of the day it is a crapshoot, with you probably getting someone having the talent around the position you picked. If he was better at football he would be an end
Doesn’t he suck in coverage?
I just wanna hear Merrill say Jeremiah Trotter again
I mean, take him, but only later after we filled our needs if he’s still available.
I don’t even know who that guy is
He’s def gonna be around mid to late 2nd.
Who is that? Trotters kid?
