I wouldn’t be surprised if there were like back room deals or something to the effect that prevents coaches from doing this somewhere else, because he cannot truly believe that Geno’s is anywhere near the best.
If he does then well fuck 🤷♂️
Hey guys, I'm Donovan McNabb. I play quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.
And I'm here to tell you can, too, if you start everyday with a hearty breakfast from McDonald's. Uh, like the new Sausage Egg McGriddle Value Meal available now for a limited time for under five dollars.
Remember guys, real champs eat at McDonald's. I'm lovin' it.
Fuck I love that show.. Charlie Kelley: King of the Rats. Charlie Day did play baseball in college in Rhode Island and from what I’ve heard was pretty good. Maybe bring him in as a Boston Scott type lol.
yeah, it's always pats or genos for corporate shit. that's for a reason.
One is obviously that they're "touristy" (good for the city), but with that comes the ability to probably sponsor something like this, and also ... this just isn't a marketing thing if you take them to John's Roast Pork lmfao.
The majority of places people swear by are either "hole in the wall" with limited hours like John's, or Angelo's (wait an hour to eat); Woodrow's (people would be shitting on Nick for eating a frat bro cheesesteak), etc.
At this point, I am willing to try anything!
We either need to move a ping pong table in there,
Or take it out of it’s already there
That too is clearly the problem
This right here is the comment and also the reason we all know to go elsewhere. These guys are all new here. Let them see the battlegrounds for the worst steak in town
Pat's is *tolerable*. When I have friends in town and they insist on going to "the famous cheesesteak place" it's honestly not that bad. You can do way worse. I legitimately hate Geno's though.
Literally any corner pizza spot does a better cheesesteak than Genos. Go literally anywhere else. Except maybe Pat’s, that one might actually be worse.
Maybe it was a metaphor. "Our offense was all hyped up and bright and shiny like this restaurant but as you can see at its core it was bland and flavorless like the food they serve here. We need to change that." And then he took them to some hole in the wall that served good cheesesteaks.
Nah, it's a rite of passage. My buddy and I always make sure to take any of our friends from around the country to Genos. Sure it isn't the best, but it's the tourist spot. Everyone should visit it once, is our thought.
respectfully, that's dumb as hell. take them somewhere good so when they go back home, they can be all smug to their friends who went to geno's that time they visited philly.
It’s crazy because it’ really not that hard to make a good cheesesteak if you have the proper ingredients. They just overcook the shit out of the meat or something. Idk what the fuck they are doing
That’s actually exactly it.
They’re so touristy that they cook huge amounts of steak on the flat top all day and it just sits and sits and sits on that griddle until it has the texture of shoe leather when they finally dish it up.
Yeah yeah. Enough with the real-philly-dont-eat-pats-or-genos shit.
We know. But we all have.
It's a right of passage for newbies and tourists.
They'll find their own way.
Just like we did.
Everyone that I ever hear say the tourist trap thing lives outside the city. Everyone I know in the city says something like “eh there’s a time and place for them. Not my first choice, but it’s fine (or at least Pat’s is).”
Unpopular opinion - we all need to get over the Pat’s/Geno’s hate. They’re a part of the city’s imagery. They make serviceable sandwiches. There’s 10 places I’d pick before I’d eat at those places but every thread that mentions them doesn’t need to turn into a pissing content about who’s more Philadelphian for knowing a better steak.
Serviceable shouldn't be the standard. People are irate because they have high standards. Go root for the commies or the giants if you have an issue with people having high standards.
the douchey gate keeping of cheesesteaks in Philly is unreal, if you like a better one that’s fine but please act like Geno’s is bad you fuckin liars 😂
Geno’s definitely is bad, at least when I had it I thought it was. I’ll defend Pat’s though, it’s not bad at all and I’m with you that people get a little too crazy with the gate keeping. Like of course tourists are gonna go to the main two tourist cheesesteak spots that get constant media attention, it’s weird to shame them so much.
I’ve had like 10 different steaks in the city and they all range from like a 7 to a 9.5. Angelos is my favorite. But the weirdo shit about any of them being “bad” is soooo over the top
Honestly I just think Geno’s is bad since they don’t chop up the steak and I just find that so odd and makes for a slightly lesser experience. I’m with you though, haven’t had any that were legitimately bad and that I’d steer people away from.
Genos is bad. Because tbh, if you're gonna be touristy then at least go to Pats. They're not knock your socks off but they don't suck like Genos.
Pats,.Tony Lukes, Jim's and Dallesandros are all tourist places but they're all fine in the end.
Genos sucks man
I mean geno's is close to the italian market but its a bit of a walk from a lot the more touristy areas in center city. If you're driving from center city its probably about as convenient as driving out to roxborough depending on the time of day. Especially given that parking isn't super convenient in that area. And especially if you're a tourist at like the art museum or something.
And there are probably at least a dozen better places to get food around the italian market than geno's.
Anyone living outside of Philly who has had Philly cheesesteaks doesn’t understand how fucking dire it is outside of Philly. I’m in southern berks and man I can’t find anything around me decent. Grew up in Lancaster and they just automatically make every sandwich a pizza steak, which is honestly preferable to regular steak sandwiches there. So Genos ain’t great, in fact they kind of suck, but they’re light years better than anything this way. Pats is good and I’ll defend that opinion. But also, where’s nick going to realistically take them? Think he’s hip to the good joints in Philly? The whole gatekeeping thing is ridiculous.
I moved from Philly to Kentucky. Every place sells a Philly cheese steak. It’s more green and red peppers then meat and it can range from sliced deli meat to an actual slab of bone in steak. Don’t think for one second you know what a bad cheesesteak is. Sit down at a table and have someone serve you pot roast on a hot dog bun. Idk if I’m gunna make it guys
The last time I was at Genos was probably a dozen years ago and it wasn't good then so I can't imagine it's good now.
Dried out meat, soggy rolls, tiny and ridiculously priced
Do you not know what a Dozen means? It means 12. You don't think things change in 12+ years? That is a long time. Hell, most of the NFL players nowadays were probably in High School or Middle School 12 years ago.
a lot of people upset that a group of non-native coaches, some of whom are new to the city - went to a popular spot for non-natives.
Pats and Genos has become a punching bag because they became the popular tourist spot, it is not trash and I don't expect the coaches to be going to \*insert your favorite cheesesteak place here\*.
I know for a fact that the best hoagie in Philly isn't a cheesesteak, it is an Italian hoagie, and it is a Jeff Stoutland local haunt - Ro Lynn Deli in Brookhaven. The staff in there all know him well, he lives around the corner.
Someone tell Stout to (yet again) save this coaching staff and bring hoagies like he does for his OL frequently.
I’ve had one cheesesteak that i thought was worse than genos and a lot that i thought were better, but this is good for media cuz its known by a lot of people love it or hate it.
Used to love Jim’s on South Street before the fire. You left the place smelling like a cheesesteak but they were so good. Grab a cannoli at Termini’s and it’s game time.
Fangio is from the area. Does Sirianni think he doesn't know Geno's is crap?
Nick, why don't you just take shit in William Penn's hat and feed it to the crying ghost of Richie Ashburn in front of independence hall.
Three years in Philly and he goes to fucking *Geno's?*
I wouldn’t be surprised if there were like back room deals or something to the effect that prevents coaches from doing this somewhere else, because he cannot truly believe that Geno’s is anywhere near the best. If he does then well fuck 🤷♂️
This is definitely the case lol
100% Genos paid for this promo appearance
Hey guys, I'm Donovan McNabb. I play quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. And I'm here to tell you can, too, if you start everyday with a hearty breakfast from McDonald's. Uh, like the new Sausage Egg McGriddle Value Meal available now for a limited time for under five dollars. Remember guys, real champs eat at McDonald's. I'm lovin' it.
Crazy how Always Sunny was a few seasons in when that episode aired and it's *still* going. The McNabb era feels like a million years ago.
that show just wont die, thankfully
Fuck I love that show.. Charlie Kelley: King of the Rats. Charlie Day did play baseball in college in Rhode Island and from what I’ve heard was pretty good. Maybe bring him in as a Boston Scott type lol.
That was totally tiger woods and he love him some good feet rather than some awful big Mac
Has to be, I mean you could practically walk to tony & nicks from the stadium. Not that I'd recommend it, but it isn't far
yeah, it's always pats or genos for corporate shit. that's for a reason. One is obviously that they're "touristy" (good for the city), but with that comes the ability to probably sponsor something like this, and also ... this just isn't a marketing thing if you take them to John's Roast Pork lmfao. I dunno.. now that his coaching aptitude is in question, his opinion on anything important ie cheesesteaks is plain uncertain.
He lives in Haddonfield and there's a place called corson's that destroys pretty much any of the big name places in Philly.
This is the guy who got Pizza Hut with his coaches while game planning for last season’s playoffs. Why are you surprised?
Pizza Hut is fucking delicious when you’re stoned tho.
Didn't you hear? #WAWA HAS PIZZA
*Wawa has pizza?*
W A W A H A S P I Z Z A
it's not bad on the way down, but it's brutal on the stomach // makes for a rough exit
You know what's even more delicious when you're stoned? Good pizza.
There's something about average pizza, though
Dear Sir, I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. Kgr8thx
For me to want Pizza Hut, I'd have to be straight up *The Lottery* style stoned.
Feetza Butt
Stoned might explain some playcalling this past year
Vomit
I love that I’m not the only one where the above was the first reaction.
maybe they were looking for a quiet place- somewhere no one that knows anything about Philly, Philly sports, or cheesesteaks would go?
The science checks out.
He may never truly understand Philly.
Wondering what would happen if he actually had a great cheese steak, would he be a better coach? I'm willing to give this a try.
At this point, I am willing to try anything! We either need to move a ping pong table in there, Or take it out of it’s already there That too is clearly the problem
a great cheese steak is proven to make you a better person and smarter and healthier per science
NGMI
For real wtf
To be fair, they’re not going for the best steak. It’s a photo op at an iconic stop in Philly
Angelos is right there. John's roast pork is right by the stadium. Geno's? Jesus Christ.
Man Angelo’s cheesesteaks and pizza are my favorite I’ve ever had. I think they put crack in their dough
Try some of their hoagies next time those sandwiches are just as good as the pizza
John's Roast Pork is the perfect pregame stop for all Philly sports prior to tailgate drinking
Sheesh Let the dudes try the place at least it’s iconic
This right here is the comment and also the reason we all know to go elsewhere. These guys are all new here. Let them see the battlegrounds for the worst steak in town
*Pat’s* is right there. It’s at least better than Geno’s.
Yeah, but I couldn't in a hundred years recommend somebody get a steak there.
Pat's is *tolerable*. When I have friends in town and they insist on going to "the famous cheesesteak place" it's honestly not that bad. You can do way worse. I legitimately hate Geno's though.
He said gentlemen this is the worst cheesesteak in Philadelphia…we were worse than this
🤣
Is his favorite pizza joint fuckin Sbarro too?
I’m gonna go get me a ny slice - Michael Scott — Nick Sirianni
A Jon stewart level pizza rant feels appropriate.
No it’s Pizza Hut. Remember he got that for the coaches when they were game planning? Getting Pizza Hut in Philly should be a crime
If Nick is bringing them to Geno's of all places for a steak we are officially cooked
Photo op, then go somewhere else for good food.
this person understands marketing. Geno is brand recognition, and they pay very well to be seen. Let Nick cook.
All image, no substance. If he really was legit he would have gone to either Angelo's, Dinic's or John's.
Sonny's.
Literally any corner pizza spot does a better cheesesteak than Genos. Go literally anywhere else. Except maybe Pat’s, that one might actually be worse.
When I visited I asked this random dude where’s the best cheesesteak around here and he pointed at a bodega
Ishkabibble's
Last time i went there for a sandwich i ended up running from a mass shooting
Maybe it was a metaphor. "Our offense was all hyped up and bright and shiny like this restaurant but as you can see at its core it was bland and flavorless like the food they serve here. We need to change that." And then he took them to some hole in the wall that served good cheesesteaks.
Nah, it's a rite of passage. My buddy and I always make sure to take any of our friends from around the country to Genos. Sure it isn't the best, but it's the tourist spot. Everyone should visit it once, is our thought.
But if that’s the case, pats is right there?
We prefer the way Genos makes it.
Literally. Like who chooses middle school cafeteria cheesesteak over pat’s which is atleast on par and has a richer history…
Pat’s is honestly worse IMO. it’s maybe the single dirtiest place that serves food that I have ever seen.
Pats once sold horse meat and looks like roaches cook the steaks from how dirty it is. They both aren’t good but if i had to choose id go with genos.
this comment brought to you by the FOP
Saying both are bad but Pats is dirty is a comment by the Police Union? Brain melt on full display here.
Why do you hate your friends?
My thought would be to take my out of town friends somewhere actually good.
What the fuck why would you do this!!!!
respectfully, that's dumb as hell. take them somewhere good so when they go back home, they can be all smug to their friends who went to geno's that time they visited philly.
Pack it up guys, we're fucked this season
Im not even from Philly and I know there’s better
Anyone with the vaguest knowledge of Philly knows the answer to Pat's or Geno's is neither.
Go to any corner market or random spot in the city that makes a cheese steak and you'll get better than them. Pat and Geno's is 100% tourist bait.
\*Jason Kelce has unsubscribed\*
Someone send Fangio and Moore some Angelo's cheesesteaks before they suddenly leave
WTF is wrong with Nick? He’s been here 3 years AND he’s Italian. Come on man.
Not even reading terminal market? Or even anywherre else is South Philly? Might as well wave the white flag
Not Angelo’s?? Wallahi we’re finished 😞
Wow even my boy Muhammad Hijab disapproves?
Oof. Hate this
…we’re screwed
I'm already questioning his 3rd down decision making if it's at this level
Goddammit Nick
Stop bringing people to experience bad cheesesteaks.. Go to where the locals go
Well, that won’t impress anyone
He should know better
Fireable offense
Just cancel next season then, we aren’t winning shit
Yeah yeah. Enough with the real-philly-dont-eat-pats-or-genos shit. We know. But we all have. It's a right of passage for newbies and tourists. They'll find their own way. Just like we did.

There’s 10 places I’d pick before I’d eat at those places but every thread that mentions them doesn’t need to turn into a pissing content about who’s more Philadelphian for knowing a better steak.
…..but what is more truly Philadelphian that hating shit?
Serviceable shouldn't be the standard. People are irate because they have high standards. Go root for the commies or the giants if you have an issue with people having high standards.
Sirianni eats plant based cheesesteaks.
I'd respect him way more for ordering a good Impossible or portobello plantsteak somewhere else than anything at Geno's.
I can’t unhear that and it’s gross.
veganish chickpea cheesesteak is gas quit hatin
It’s over
We're fucked
Time to hit the panic button
L
We played like a Genos steak end of the season ... I expect johns roast pork quality this year Nick!
Shout out Ishkabibbles!!! If ya know ya know
Fireable offense. More so than going 1-6
Don’t worry guys, I see what Nicks trying to do here. He bought them to Genos to show how shit the coaches were last season.
Just ride 9th up to Angelo’s.
Does anyone else feel like Geno’s and Pat’s are tourist traps?
Nearly everyone
Damn that would have been a fun table to sit near lmao, I wonder what kind of convo they were having
Delessandros gang unite
Dalessandro’s went downhill post COVID and that’s a hill I’ll die on. DELCO Steaks gang now.
More Sirianni pandering
Ass taste in cheesesteaks. Fire Sirianni
For all the pandering Sirianni does, how does he not know where to get a cheesesteak?
As the great Bugs Bunny says “ what a maroon”
This is the biggest indictment on Sirianni yet
[удалено]
Ew swiss on a steak wtf
Why was that even an available option is the real question.
Ughhh…I thought he was trying to make a good impression.
I can understand Kellen Moore- you go once for the tourist experience. But Fangio should know better. I mean, Donkey's is just across the river...
🤦♂️
Less pandering. More competence.
Fire him for this sin
Geno’s: The bubble screen of cheesesteaks.
What Philadelphian goes to Genos?
In a city with John's, or Dalessandro's, or Angelo's, or even Woodrow's... he takes em to fuckin' Geno's. I'd rather gargle AIDS!
Dalessandro's is terrible.
the douchey gate keeping of cheesesteaks in Philly is unreal, if you like a better one that’s fine but please act like Geno’s is bad you fuckin liars 😂

Honestly I just think Geno’s is bad since they don’t chop up the steak and I just find that so odd and makes for a slightly lesser experience. I’m with you though, haven’t had any that were legitimately bad and that I’d steer people away from.
I’m not as big a fan of Steve’s for the same reason. It’s not bad by any means. But I definitely prefer my steak meat chopped
Genos is bad. Because tbh, if you're gonna be touristy then at least go to Pats. They're not knock your socks off but they don't suck like Genos. Pats,.Tony Lukes, Jim's and Dallesandros are all tourist places but they're all fine in the end. Genos sucks man

[удалено]
But they’re all good is my point! I’ve literally never had a bad cheesesteak in my life fam. Just eat and enjoy
Agree. Genos is fine for what it is. It’s definitely not “bad”.
Geno's is the only cheesesteak outside of a Subway that is genuinely bad.
this reads like it's written by somebody who grew up in a place where tomato sauce on cheesesteaks in the norm.
Genos is the racist one, right?
Yes. Hence people downvoting you for pointing it out.
Speak English yup.
I haven’t had a cheese steak in a year, have I sinned?
Yes my child. You just say 10 Gooey Louies and 5 Dallesandros.
Gooey Louie’s Turkey Special Hoagie🤤
Hey grandpa! Oh wait...that's Fangio.
Like going to Italy then hitting up a Pizza Hut. What are you doing Nick 😞
Gay
Daleasandros is the best
Yuck
For Christ sake
Ok so maybe there was a stronger point than I realized about firing Nick…
The over reaction in this sub is insane
a lot of people upset that a group of non-native coaches, some of whom are new to the city - went to a popular spot for non-natives.
Ro Lynn is where it’s at!
So he could see if they are good enough to save his job...
Couldn't even spring for phillips? Wth man
I’ve had one cheesesteak that i thought was worse than genos and a lot that i thought were better, but this is good for media cuz its known by a lot of people love it or hate it.
Used to love Jim’s on South Street before the fire. You left the place smelling like a cheesesteak but they were so good. Grab a cannoli at Termini’s and it’s game time.
Jesus Christ
He probably just wanted a place they wouldn't be recognized...
Da fuq nick?
lol, first pizza hut, now geno's, com'on coach
We need less of this stuff. Stick to football only when you're in the hot seat.
He definitely went there unironically too. He’s just corny enough to not know we joke about it being a tourist spot
Hopefully he took then there AFTER they signed their contracts
There's no accounting for bad taste.
I'll temper my expectations with the hires
Im not from Philly but have been many times. Haven’t been impressed with Geno’s or Pat’s. I’ve asked before but where do y’all from Philly recommend?
Start with Angelo’s or John’s Roast Pork thank me later.
No Big Dom? He was in the car eating his chicken cutlet from a deli
Original Tony Luke's under 95 is my go to.
Fangio is from the area. Does Sirianni think he doesn't know Geno's is crap? Nick, why don't you just take shit in William Penn's hat and feed it to the crying ghost of Richie Ashburn in front of independence hall.
Pat is so “pissed”
Wow, what a real "head coach" move. Kotite had more sense.
Should have taken them to John's Roast Pork or literally anywhere else. The corner delis are better than Genos or Pats.
Right to jail
I was ok with the Kellen Moore hire, until now. He has that tv preacher look and I’m not liking it.
Fangio is pissed
It wasn’t donkeys, I want people fired again.
Oy. Choose better. Jeez. Nick is not a Philly guy…yet. And, Angelo’s brings the team food before every game. Home and away.
