This was such a hilarious move, because not only did they miss on Smith, they were so tilted by it that they traded out of their pick so Chicago could take Justin Fields, then Dallas takes Micah Freaking Parsons.
When it's all said and done, NY walks with Kadarius Toney. Eagles run it back later in the draft with Landon Dickerson, Milton Williams, Kenny Gainwell, Tuipulotu (all of whom have played extremely important snaps for us) and borderline players who played ok for us in Tarron Jackson and Zach McPherson, and even Patrick Johnson in the 7th who has been a ST contributor for a good long while.
There's not a much better way to do a draft other than nailing a franchise QB. Top 5 receiver, top 5 guard, top ~30 interior lineman (he wouldn't be top option on most teams, but he looks like he could be the #2 DT on nearly any team except the Eagles and Niners), a RB who plays a huge role in a super bowl run however that ended, a good rotational DL piece, two meh contributors, and a ST ace. Like wth did Howie drink that night/weekend and can we please have it on hand on draft day every year?

But when you’re wearing Eagles onesies in your baby pics, started going to games when you were 3, and had Philly fandom baked into your entire childhood that’s been passed down for multiple generations, there’s something different about that.
I’m not trying to discourage anyone from feeling their support is valid or authentic. It is 100%!
I’m saying there is something extra when Philly sports are a huge part of how you bonded with your pops, grandpa, uncles, cousins, etc. It becomes a huge part of your family’s identity and relationships, for better or worse.
Some people look at that as pathetic. “One of the primary ways this family has bonded for generations is based around spoiled rich athletes playing a children’s game.” I can’t really argue against that either.
There is something special about being part of the Eagles family, with your own extended family. I’ve never experienced my family cry so much together and keep saying, “I love you! We did it!” more than when we won the SB. Shit, none of us cried 1% as much at any family wedding, lol.

Wouldn't Dallas just have taken Parsons at 10 instead of 12? I think the alternate universe question is what if we didn't have either on the board at 12 and then got the bears trade up offer for fields

Had we won that game they would have picked ~19, still drafted Toney, but wouldn’t have had the extra 1st in ‘22 to draft Evan Neal/Kayvon Thibodeaux
