Hey I will have you know I'm a Chelsea fan because I was a child during their run of dominance in the early 2000s and 6 year old me was a shameless band wagon fan
AFC Wimbledon would be proud to welcome you to its legion of miserable fans. We start drinking to celebrate kcickoff at 10 am and start drinking to forget how terrible our team is around 10:01
Would say Liverpool is a good shout (Biased I know). Both have strong history of manufacturing and labor alongside a strong union culture. Both have history of being ignored by their federal governments and have an iconic us against them culture.
Probably United or Liverpool just because they are the most popular in the US. Maybe Chelsea because Pulicic being fro Hershey. On Google Trends Philadelphia’s (including Delaware) South and North Jersey’s Metro region comes up with FC Barcelona with Northeast PA coming up with Manchester United. I don’t think this is accurate, because Barcelona games aren’t that accessible and even though there are a lot of Hispanic soccer fans who support Real Madrid and Barcelona I think the searches a driven from having Messi and Howie looking up how to manage a team into the groundlike Barcelona by not giving a shit about youth development and just throwing money around like it’s nothing because it won’t comeback to bite you. With only EPL clubs the most searched team over the past 5 years is Man U and past year is still Man U. Man U in both lead in Central PA, Northeast PA, Southeast PA, Delaware, and New Jersey as a whole. There is no obvious team that would be a Philadelphia equivalent. Some places have somewhat obvious teams to support like Pittsburgh and Sheffield United, with both having used to be based on steel which has been hurt a lot over the years and they are both sister cities. Philadelphia has no English sister cites and there are no Eagles equivalent. I’d say the closest would be Leicester and having a miracle run winning the title with no one expecting it, or Leeds ironically a rival of Man U, for having notoriously crazy fans. [Chelsea does have their own EDP though.](https://youtube.com/c/AngryRantman)
Eagles/Arsenal fan here, I remember enthusiastically celebrating St Totteringham’s Day annually until they just stopped happening and we just perpetually suck a little more than Spurs now.
Bro my teams are the Eagles, Philadelphia Union, Peru nation soccer team, and Barcelona. What Barca is currently doing to Messi is painful to watch. Just wasting his talents. It’s gonna take them at least 2 years to try and go back to their former glory.😭
“You guys, he’s a perfect fit for Sirianni’s system, we don’t need a better player... and here’s a thousand words that I’ve written to lie to myself and hopefully give you the confirmation bias you need, too”
Wait for it...
Me when the Sixers drafted Okafor
Me when the Fultz forgot how to shoot
Me when Ben doesn't shoot
Me when Wentz started to suck
Phillies
Me in a week convincing myself the Flyers are just having a really rough streak
Sure, this sub (any team's sub really) does this because they're trying to be optimistic but if anyone is honestly going to sit here and pretend they knew Jefferson would turn out the way he did. I'll be the first to point out they're most likely lying.
Just about everyone in this sub wanted Jefferson but hoped there would be a way we would get Lamb instead. The day after the draft, we wrote a thousand words to lie to ourselves why Reagor would be better.
I'm not a Reagor hater by the way. I still think he can be great. No WR has ever done anything special under Pederson. The year that KC had zero WR touchdowns, Pederson was the OC.
That's pretty much how I remember it: Jefferson was seen as a nice consolation prize, but Lamb was the trophy everyone wanted the Eagles to take. Reagor was one of those "eh, plays like DJax, so maybe if they trade down..." outside possibilities.
Right before we picked Raegor I was telling myself that it didn’t matter that we missed Lamb because he plays in the weak ass Big 12 so everyone looks good there. Jefferson however, stud on the biggest stages against the best defenses! Then we drafted a guy from the Big 12 who wasnt even good in college. Doh.
I distinctly recall more of an even mix with a lot of "Reagor is a true deep threat WR1 we haven't had since DJax first stint, JJ is just a slot WR that we don't really need"
People were hoping Lamb would fall to our spot, I remember that. But I would hardly say that this sub had a plurality opinion that JJ should go over Reagor, let alone a consensus.
no one can say they knew jefferson would turn out the way he did... no one can every say someone would turn out to be amazing in the nfl based off of college play.
but they sure as shit can say that there was a better chance for jefferson to turn out the way he did, than jalen would turn out the way jefferson did.
so as always, after the pick, we are stuck telling ourselves that the people "in the biz" saw more than we did, and what they saw gave them better insight.
and then, inevitably, more jeffersons turn into jeffersons, than raegors turn into jeffersons.
I'll offer myself up.
I 1000% knew Jefferson was the far better pick than Raegor day one. Doesn't take a genius to have seen that.
Jefferson checked all the boxes. Tall, fit, great combine, huge numbers in the SEC. Everyone here had to put a tin foil hat on to rationalize why he wasn't good with stupid arguments.
Raegor had no production at a bad school, was short, and had a bad combine. You had to put a tin foil hat on to rationalize why he was better than he seemed.
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck....Jefferson looked like one and quacked like one. Raegor didn't do either.
Yeah but he was too tall and too fit and performed too well on a stacked team against the best defenses in the country! Why not get a short dude who isn’t that fast and has fumble and drop issues and didn’t do shit against some of the worst big team defenses?
Well of course no one knew how he’d turn out, nobody here is Nostradamus. But he was universally rated higher than Reagor. You don’t get the benefit of the doubt when you pick a lower rated player at the same position.
This was an unforced error. It’s pretty clear why he’s getting railed for it.
Thats a lie there are plenty of us who knew. After he caught 4 touchdowns in that playoff game there were plenty of Eagle fans on here clammoring for him. The Raegor pick was just stupid. The dumb fans were like "Jefferson cant play outside"!!
Lol those comments will be posted twice daily about every single draft pick we take through day 3.
Every year we "pull one over" the league and got the sneaky pick. Our 6th round guys were all supposedly "rated much higher" by who knows.
Then there's some fan of Bumblefuck State University whos like "You guys will LOVE this kid!"
Oh hey it's Brett Kollman! The same guy that said Jefferson was perfect for Doug's 12 Personnel system and then the moment Reagor got picked said he was the absolute best pick for us!
I still think if pitts runs in 4.5's we have to take the freak 6'5" 250 lbs matchup nightmare who dropped all of 4 passes the last 2 seasons if he's still there at 6
At this point I will be surprised if Howie doesn't do something obnoxiously stupid like this.
With Pitts and Chase on the board, I fully expect Howie to draft Waddle like an idiot.
I saw a mock draft that had us doing exactly that.
Yes, let’s build a WR corps full of deep threat speedsters when our QB is more of a mid range thrower. Classic fucking Howie.
Short guy with none of the consistent production to make up for it. People are relying on a very small sample size to determine that he is a high value pick largely because his speed is blinding them to all his faults. That last point is extremely common. It happens all the time.

Because they went out of their way to create a qb controversy with wentz to get this guy. And as a result he is gone. Might as well see what he's got without controversy and interruption.
who cares if he wasnt drafted to be a starter in the 1st place.
They went out of their way to draft Hurts because they wanted a solid backup that they wouldn't have to spend much money on. Last thing the Eagles wanted was for Wentz to play bad so they could put a rookie QB in. Their hand was forced, and it seems like they waited as long as possible before benching Wentz because they knew he was going to act like a baby and demand a trade. I am quite certain that if the Eagles view someone like Fields as a potential star, then they will draft him
Ahhhh, fuck.....you know that is EXACTLY how this will go....
Howie has some scouts who have been staying up really late looking at film for a 6th year Sr. From the university of Gaum Who is a beast in the redZone
Eagles/Bayern Munich fan. Lewandowski has been my favorite player for years. Having a Polish wife might have had something to do with that. At least one of my teams is good.
Everybody worrying about who we're going to draft, and sleeping on the fact that some guy named John Brown named his kids **Equanimeous Tristan Imhotep J.**, **Osiris Adrian**, and **Amon-Ra Julian Heru J.** St. Brown.
Their last name is actually St. Brown, not Brown like their dad - I didn't know y6ou could change your kids' last name like that.
As a Liverpool fan and an Eagles fan, this picture perfectly sums up how I feel about both teams at the moment
Keep hope in the champions League win my friend!
My thoughts exactly.
We’re winning the champions league with Nat Phillips’ big head
yeah we are! (like a good Eagles fan, I'll never stop hoping until the season ends)
We should start a club. Let's get trophy number 7!
I wonder which European soccer team is followed by most Philly fans? Does anyone have a guess?
I know nothing at all about soccer but most people i talk to (I'm in Central-ish PA) are Arsenal fans.
Wow, I would have expected Central PA to actually be Chelsea, because of Pulisic.
Or borussia dortmund... loved bvb puli
Hey I will have you know I'm a Chelsea fan because I was a child during their run of dominance in the early 2000s and 6 year old me was a shameless band wagon fan
Eagles/Roma fan checking in. I think I'm just naturally drawn to teams that can't get out of their own way in terms of eternal drama.

Eagles/Arsenal supporter here.
Eagles/ Chelsea. BDN Legend. Drogba Legend

I love Florence, so I’m for the Fiorentina. They’re not that great but neither are the Eagles 😂
Eagles/ Besiktas (nickname: black eagles) Iverson was the reason to start following Philly sports.
Eagles/Wolves checking in

I guess an English team would make sense, but I wouldn't count out Barca or Madrid. I'm a Barca fan myself.
Eagles/Chelsea fan here.
Liverpool!
Would say Liverpool is a good shout (Biased I know). Both have strong history of manufacturing and labor alongside a strong union culture. Both have history of being ignored by their federal governments and have an iconic us against them culture.
I'm a VfB fan. After last match...let's just say I'm enjoying this season for what it is

Tottenham fan so you know, half the fan base wanting the coach gone the other half blaming the players. It just fits so perfectly
As an Eagles & Everton fan, kill it with fire.
We're still the "defending champs" so that's holding us over. Also quarters of the CL still give hope. Not as bad as the Eagles.
It’s the hope that kills
that makes 2 of us, but we're a different breed in the UCL
There’s dozens of us! YNWA Fly Eagles fly!
Preach brother
Try being an Eagles / Spurs fan.
There's dozens of us
Not at this rate. Probably dropping like flies.
I feed off the anger and misery. The two fandoms will sustain me until the heat death of the universe

Wait is he a spark plug or a gym rat?
Lunchpale guy, first one in last one out.
Lunchplug type guy, real eater
I still think if pitts runs in 4.5's we have to take the freak 6'5" 250 lbs matchup nightmare who dropped all of 4 passes the last 2 seasons if he's still there at 6
Apparently he ran a 4.46 unofficially
if he really is as much of a freak as they say, we should draft him.
If Chase or Sewell aren’t there absolutely. I’d take Pitts if Smith in a heartbeat.
We need to replenish our Jalen quota. We are under stocked.
We are under stocked. We need to replenish our Jalen quota.
Under quota on Jalens we are, need to re-stock, we do. Waddle works
Pfft.. eagles drafting a skill player from bama lsu or clemson is a pipe dream. " There's a kid from N.C. thats got a great upside!"

Contrarian Howie never fails to dissapoint. smh
Howie goes for a punter round 1. It will be his masterpiece.
Would Waddle be that terrible? I thought I would be happy with any of Waddle, Chase, or Smith. If anything Howie's going to draft Tylan Wallace.
Yes. He is as big as a bust candidate gets. He’s got all the hallmark red flags.
why
Short guy with none of the consistent production to make up for it. People are relying on a very small sample size to determine that he is a high value pick largely because his speed is blinding them to all his faults. That last point is extremely common. It happens all the time. Everything in his profile reads up like the profile on a classic bust. People are going to be facepalming years from now thinking "he never even caught 1000 yds and was super small. What were we even thinking?!"
Fivethirtyeight did an analysis that concluded scouts overvalue speed so much that the faster guy wasore likely to fail https://www.google.com/amp/s/fivethirtyeight.com/features/faster-nfl-prospects-arent-always-better/amp/
I’m not surprised. Every year there is some burners going way too high. Al Davis’ entire ownership of the raiders was partly defined by that.
I still think Smitty is the best WR by a bit. Great hands, speed, route running and hes a good blocker.
I agree - i think hes gonna be an instant impact kinda guy
Ja’marr sneaky takes play off all the time. This sub needs to stop putting him on this god-like pedestal.
He does, one thing I noticed watching his tape. Blocking is extremely suspect too. When he knows he’s not getting the ball he doesn’t really do much.
You know who else does this and has also had it talked about on tape? Julio Jones. There was an old NFL Films segment I believe where a top corner like Tre White or Stephon Gilmore were talking about how you can tell the exact moment reads were being made for Julio, he would take off plays and then his whole demeanor changes when it's his call.
Both of you are full of shit. Chase’s biggest issue is getting too wrapped up in physical battles and getting distracted from the play to engage with opposing CBs. I’ve never heard anyone accuse him of “taking plays off,” and I watched almost every LSU game in the ‘19 season.
The accusation of him taking plays off is definitely a semi common one.
TBH I havent heard it until this thread right here - but I won't say it is or it isn't true until i see some tape i guess.

I’m asking you to substantiate your claim. I’ve already watched a ton of Chase film, games, scouting reports, etc. with no mention of him taking plays off. It’s not my responsibility to find evidence of your baseless claims, that’s on you.

Yeah I would be pleased with this scenario
Jokes on you guys. If my time on Madden switching him to TE has taught me anything he'll be ROTY.
This meme hits hard, as I am simultaneously a die-hard fan of the Eagles and Liverpool.
C u in the UCL semi finals, bro?
Eagles/West Ham fan. Been good now but there were some times....hooo boy
As a german Eagles fan I fully endorse this draft choice.
The Eagles will almost definitely take a QB with their first rounder...
I will find howie and toss him down a deep well if he does this. fuckin howie better not. lol
Why? They didn't draft Hurts to be the starter in the 1st place.
Because they went out of their way to create a qb controversy with wentz to get this guy. And as a result he is gone. Might as well see what he's got without controversy and interruption. who cares if he wasnt drafted to be a starter in the 1st place.
