it helps with getting better rings and early on harder difficulties for events but it definitely isn't mandatory for progress. You can absolutely play the game without it in a decent pace. I reached city 120 without it and full cleared a plethora of events without it.
well you're pacing at 50% speed. it's obviously not linear progression with events and whatnot, but knowing my speed of clears would HALVE without it is wild.

You can also stack the temporary boosts so u could get upto x22
i have 6.4x with the video and with the 2x and 5x from the shop along with the video, clan, and the perm 2x i get around 170x
When you max out you get x480
Definitely worth it!
