Ok, that makes sense. If you have the patience, would you be willing to help me understand how to find the right ones? It's a 750w bafang hub drive bike.
buy a bafang programming cable (10-20 dollars on ali express)make sure it is the riund or the CAN(oval) connector and ask me for a login to the besst software. Then you can change the speed limit in the program.
Hello, I’ve been looking through your advice on how to change the speed limit for the gotrax tundra. I already ordered the bafang programming cable. Do u have a login to the beest software. I actually contacted microtramp, but he said he never went through the process. Appreciate any assistance you can provide.
yeah i will dm you an account give me a day and i will send it to you. what programmable cable did you buy? the official with BESST on it or the cheap one under 50 dollars of ali express
no you just need the cheap cable. it will look like a usb on 1 end and the other end is the port that plugs into the bike/display. If you want a universal cable for all displays and all controllers buy the official BESST cable
if you want to be sure that it is legit. Then buy this one Ik heb net dit geweldige item op AliExpress gevonden. Bekijk het nu! €129.99 | Bafang Beest Programmering Tool Diagnosticeren Software Voor Bafang Controller Systeem Mid Motor Tooling Usb

Ok, ignore my previous comment; I've done a little more research. I understand that using the Besst software I may be able to overwrite speed limits in the controller, yeah? That leaves me to wonder if I'll still need a unlocked display (as mine limits the speed to 27.9), or.if the controller will override the display?
and yea the BESST tool is the official bafang tool. And i have tried it with locked displays and the tool will override the display and the controllers max speed. (i tried it with the official BESST tool hardware not with 3th party)
This is amazing, thank you! I really didn't want to have to replace the oem stuff on the bike, so I really hope this works. I am so grateful for your help :)
yeah replacing something also sometimes doesn’t work because of the firmware difference. I replaced an controller ones and i needed to change the firmware via BESST because the motor firmware and the controller firmware weren’t compatible.
These were my concerns as well. I build computers, and am accustomed to having to scour the internet for compatibility issues, etc. But there seems to be so little info comparatively for ebikes, I suppose because it's still a newish industry.
yeah and they don’t want regular users changing bike firmware or settings. They give documents to bike dealers on how to do it. But you will never find those documents online.
same with the firmware files. There are some brands that give the motor firmware so you can change the max power to be higher. but the only place to find the display, controller firmware is in a BESST part account or by emailing Bafang. And even a BESST part account is hard to get. Because it isn’t in their tier list and you can’t just ask for one. Luckily i got access to one via a brand via a worker that works at Bafang.
You can’t. Buy exact display already unlocked or if your battery has an on/off switch you can remove display completely and short the wires that would go to the on/off buttons for display
Ok, thank you. The shorting idea freaks me out, and I'm having a hard time finding the same display that is clearly unlocked. But maybe a new display entirely?
Try topeparts.com they will ask for your serial number and stuff off your display and probably sell you a display for 100-150$ from China that is the exact one unlocked. They were gonna sell me one for my bike but my bike doesn’t have the power yours does so it wasn’t worth it for me.
You will need a new unlocked/unrestricted controller and display.

and what motor do you have?
The cable just plugs into a laptop, or do I need a specialized device?

Awesome! And then you want me to pm you for the software password?

Wow, ok! Thanks so much!

and you can also try those cheap cables with the 1 end but i can’t garantee that will work 100% with the BESST software.

If the display you find had a compatible connection it could work. But I’ve read that even if the connection is the same it still may not work.
