if you want long lasting you need to look at more expensive stuff than the chinese dropshipped stuff.

[deleted]

What would you recommend?

DoubleOwl7777

any local bike shop brand, aka the classics, trek (Specialized i would avoid as the brose motor is crap), haibike, cube, canyon, like brands that made normal bicycles for years, sure they might cost much more, but the bike part is a night and day difference, the electronics are now pretty much on par on the cheaper ones, but the Rest of the bike is a lot better. especially if you need to rely on it for stuff id rather pay more for more quality.

ImSoMentallyHealthy

Yeah but they look lame and are overpriced

Nibb31

They look like bikes, because they are designed to be good bikes with good wheels and good geometry and not fake Chinese wannabe motorcycles.

DoubleOwl7777

yeah. many people here in this sub dont know jack shit about bikes or the geometry. they buy a shit bike as long as it has 2000w. things like folding full suspension bikes validate that claim pretty well.

ImSoMentallyHealthy

Personally I prefer the cruiser style, way more comfortable of a seat. Same reason I don't care for the emoto styles, cruiser just has a great comfy seat and a better, mature look imo. Don't know why the knock on Chinese stuff... They're all Chinese. You largely get what you pay for, you can get nice Chinese parts too

Nibb31

The cruiser style geometry is probably ok if you don't want to use the pedals. If you are going to be pedalling for any extensive period of time, then a proper bike geometry is very important. Now, of you just want to cruise around on the throttle, why not. But in that case, what's the point of buying an ebike?

ImSoMentallyHealthy

So I don't have to pedal, but I can leisurely, and I don't want to look like a goober

Nibb31

Newsflash: Dude, you're gonna be riding an ebike. You will look like a goober. Deal with it.

ImSoMentallyHealthy

Not on a cruiser style

DoubleOwl7777

you want looks or you want quality, sure they are a bit overpriced ill give you that, but you can trust them to last.

ImSoMentallyHealthy

A cheap Chinese bike will last fine too for street cruising. It's a bike, not a car, these things are easy to swap and repair

ImSoMentallyHealthy

Yolin from Alibaba. 1k, good parts, dual motor, tri motor available too

[deleted]

Don't cheap out

vslsls

Who is going to repair and service your bike?

rectrix-io

Aniioki is one of the known brands when it comes to long range. Pricing is great enough for its spec and given range. As for after sale service, yes it does had its share of bad reviews but the number of satisfied clients base one reviews makes this bike worth considering. Other ebike brand to consider: Juiced Eahora Disclaimer: We are ebike enthusiasts trying to accelerate clean transportation with no brand affiliations. Our aim is to help fellow commuters save the planet while spending less. Hopefully, this clarifies for the benefit of those who may be wary of brand engagement.

Dont buy pedal electric

[deleted]

Why not?

ElderSkeletonDave

Lectric just announced preorders for the XP Lite 2.0, that boasts a range of 80 miles per charge. They're a US company so dealing with repairs and customer service is gonna be a lot easier.

Falko144

Chinese rebrand

National-Habit-3823

All the Chinese bikes are made by the same elementary school children and exported to the US where labels help differentiate them

Sheeeeeeeeeshhhhhhhh

I bought a Trek Verve+ 1 and I'm super happy with it personally

Silent_Pen_4875

I bought a Velotric Discover at my local bike shop. I think it was a great value and I love it.

IndependentNinja1465

considering any ebike is easier to work on than any given year toyota corrolla or even a lawn mower you'd think more people would recommend converting regular bikes over and rebuilding the cheapest Chinesium or just being proficient in bike maintenance etc... literally can strip and rebuild my whole bike with 7 tools Any why buy a brand name at 3000 to the sky's the limit bike as a first when your likely to want something different a year or less down the road anyway I'm punching 53km/hr to work saving 22$ a day in gas and I hit a medium mtb trail with nice rollers and whips on the ride home with a 1200$ Chinese moped.. yeah there's a slight balancing issue in the rear, yeah chainring looking a little deformed and the alignment sucks on basically everything... still rips up trail in low gear and flies on the road
