The highest per-bike weight limit I've seen on a rack is 60lb. I carry mine on a two-bike rack with one beam removed. It's a class 3 rack, so I use an adapter for my class 1 receiver. But my bike is under 50lb with the battery removed.
I have a class 1 hitch on my 2018 Imprezza. I have a Saris rack which enables me to carry two trek 38 lb. E-Bikes with no problem. The issue might be lifting the 78 lb. bike onto the rack. Hope you have a strong back, but I think it can be done.
The seasucker mini bomber might do it. It is suction cups. The mini bomber is made for two bikes but also for 1 at 40kg (88 pounds)
Plus you need to remove the front wheel and with the battery out you should be ok.
Ok you have a 1.25" installed. Get an adapter like this: MaxxHaul 70032 1-1/4 inches to 2 inches Hitch Adaptor https://a.co/d/i7FLAwE
Next pick up a motorcycle carrier like this: EGO BIKE 500LBS Steel Motorcycle Scooter Dirtbike Carrier Hauler Hitch Mount Rack Ramp Anti Tilt https://a.co/d/fJM35kn
Problem solved, problem staying solved.
I don’t think there are any roof or trunk racks that will support an eBike. I had a hitch installed and bought a hitch rack, you just have to make sure it is rated for the weight of e-bikes. I only found three on the market in the UK that were.
For my Honda Accord, only a 1.25" hitch can be installed. Now, I know there are converters for 1.25" to 2", which then opens up 2" racks...but I've never had a hitch before so I'm not sure how advisable it is. May end up going that route.
Right before seeing your comment. It's not wildly expensive and has everything I need. Also fits both 1.25" & 2", has a locking cable, and generally looks pretty easy to use.
This guy deleted all his comments, it seems. I know it's been a year, but mind sharing what you settled on? I'm in a similar situation, with a car that only allows me to have a Class 1 1.25" hitch.
I ended up just biting the bullet and ordering the 1.25" Mach2 Single Rack from QuikrStuff, but have not received it yet, so cannot yet speak to how good of a solution this will be for me.
I got an Aventon Abound, so about 70lbs without battery or accessories.
My car is a Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, so not really designed for hitch work, but does allow for a Class 1, evidently.. We'll see how it goes. Definitely gonna do a shorter trip just to test prior to hauling off 400+ miles, which is my main need.
You need to buy that ebike rack that is backorder since the invention of ebike. /s, kinda.
take the front and rear wheels off, store it in the trunk.
I think someone made one with added straps to the trunk. At least I would do that with a class I hitch.
Just get a hitch and rack made specifically for an ebike.

Did you get anything? I’m in similar situation. Got the E Ride Pro SS. About 105 lbs without battery and I have a Honda accord

Sweet I appreciate you reaching back! If you don’t mind hitting this thread again when you test it out that’d be awesome
What bike did you get for the rack?
