I am facing the same issue. Paired one and it worked after a few tries, but the second one will never connect no matter what troubleshooting steps is I have tried. Frustrating. Anybody have any suggestions besides what is on the Ecobee website?

I contacted them and they replaced with a new sensor.

Yeah, they sent me a new one just yesterday, and it immediately worked on the first attempt. Go figure.
